Chapter One Hundred Twenty-Seven: The Assault

In the main hall of East King City, the East King sat alone on his throne with a gloomy expression. His right hand rested on the armrest, his middle finger lightly tapping it, lost in thought.
In truth, the East King had not been in good spirits these past years, for Chu Feng’s terrifying strength had been displayed three times in the Sacred Trial.
Chu Feng possessed astonishing talent and was regarded by the elders as someone who might one day catch up to Yu Yang. To the East King, this was not an unfounded belief, for he had witnessed Chu Feng’s world-shaking power with his own eyes.
Moreover, the East King even felt that Chu Feng might be more formidable than Yu Yang, since Yu Yang had never touched the Way of Heaven before becoming a Sacred Spirit Warrior.
Historically, whether human or demon tribes, those who became kings among the Sacred Spirit Warriors had all embarked on the path of the Way of Heaven.
In the past three or four years, although Chu Feng had not revealed his sharpness, the East King believed he had undoubtedly become even more terrifying.
Now, with the ten-year period completed, the East King was convinced that Chu Feng likely already possessed the strength Yu Yang once had.
This was certainly not good news for the East King. Although the elders valued Chu Feng, he could never allow Chu Feng to live safely. Perhaps in a few years, even if he personally took action, he might not be able to withstand Chu Feng.
All these years, the East King had been plotting how to eliminate Chu Feng, but since Chu Feng resided in the Spirit Battle Pavilion, he had no opportunity.
The East King understood that his time was limited; if he missed this chance, there would be none again.
Chu Feng was about to leave the Spirit Battle Pavilion, and the East King clearly had a deep understanding of this.
Chu Feng retained his position as master of the Sword Dao Hall, and the Flying Eagle Warship had always followed him—these facts the East King was well aware of. He knew that Chu Feng might be heading alone to the military camp on the Flying Eagle Warship.
Seated on his throne, the East King fell silent for a moment, a cold gleam flashing in his eyes as he murmured, “He cannot be allowed to grow any further; he must be removed as soon as possible.”
“Brother Tu.” Suddenly, the East King spoke.
There was no one else in the hall; it seemed as if he was speaking to empty air. Yet as soon as his words fell, a streak of light flew into the hall, revealing the figure of a middle-aged man.
This man had a hooked nose, a long face, and icy, indifferent eyes.
His name was Tu Zhong, the East King’s foremost expert, who had followed him through countless battles. Apart from the East King, he was the only other Sacred Spirit Warrior in East King City, having held that title for over twenty years.
“When, Brother Duan?” Tu Zhong asked expressionlessly, his voice cold as if it were his natural state.
The East King stood and walked up to Tu Zhong. “Chu Feng is about to leave the Holy City. Once he leaves, it will undoubtedly be the best time to kill him. This task is yours.”
Tu Zhong naturally knew who Chu Feng was and was well aware that the East King had long wished to kill him. He nodded and said, “Understood.”
The East King said, “But you must be careful. I suspect Chu Feng may have caught up to Yu Yang’s former power; his strength is formidable, likely not much weaker than yours. To be safe and cut off all his chances of survival, take this with you.”
With a wave of his hand, the East King produced a dark azure longbow covered with intricate runes. In the center were the bold characters: “Xuan Yue Bow.”
“The Xuan Yue Bow!” Tu Zhong’s pupils contracted. As a Sacred Spirit Warrior, he naturally knew the bow.
Among the six legendary weapons of the human race, all supreme-grade spiritual instruments of extraordinary power, the Xuan Yue Bow was one of them.
Tu Zhong had not expected the famed Xuan Yue Bow to have fallen into the East King’s hands. He clearly remembered that at least twenty years ago, the East King did not possess the bow.

However, Tu Zhong did not ask further. He took the Xuan Yue Bow with a cold smile and said, “Now it’s foolproof. Executing a prodigy should be quite enjoyable!”
The East King merely nodded, offering no further instructions. Tu Zhong did not speak more either; their trust required no words.
After Tu Zhong left, the East King’s mood improved considerably, a faint smile appearing on his lips. The power of the Xuan Yue Bow was unquestionable. There were only a handful of supreme-grade spiritual instruments, and the East King knew exactly where each legendary weapon belonged. Not even the Grand Elder could give Chu Feng a legendary weapon.
The Domain Sword God had lost its nature; how could it compare to the Xuan Yue Bow? Even if Chu Feng was strong, he might not be a match for Tu Zhong. In that case, Chu Feng’s death was inevitable.
In the Tian Regiment, after handling matters with Xu Yan, Chu Feng returned to his villa. At the same time, he used a communication pearl to notify Xu Yan to prepare, as they would leave the Holy City in three days.
Chu Feng recalled the black little box he had obtained in the Stone Hall of Xuan Yue Valley. Over the years, he had tried many times but could never open it.
Considering his current strength, he attempted once more.
Yet once again, he failed. No matter how much force he applied, the box did not budge, completely unopenable.
“I really don’t know what’s inside,” Chu Feng sighed, feeling helpless, and finally put the box away again.
During these three days, Chu Feng made some preparations. He visited Xiao Yue and gathered with the instructors of the Twentieth Regiment at Huiyan Tower.
Over the years, Xiao Yue had changed greatly. Although his cultivation had stagnated for many years, his mindset had continually improved. After cleansing the residual poison, Xiao Yue’s cultivation advanced quickly, and he had become a third-rank Heavenly Spirit Warrior.
Xiao Fan’s transformation caused a sensation not only in the Newcomer Regiment but also shook the Xiao Clan. The clan leader summoned Xiao Yue back to the clan. Although he still taught in the Newcomer Regiment, he was highly favored by the clan leader.
Although Xiao Fan had returned to service, he had yet to become a Heavenly Spirit Warrior. Facing Xiao Yue now, he had no competitive advantage.
Moreover, after Xiao Fan’s attempt to harm Xiao Yue was exposed, he was nearly executed but was spared thanks to Xiao Yue’s intercession.
Though Xiao Yue harbored hatred for Xiao Fan, he could not bring himself to kill him. In the end, Xiao Fan was exiled from the Xiao Clan.
Later, Chu Feng also gathered briefly with Han Yan, Di Han, Lin Yun, and Gu Xin, truly considering them good friends.
These four all had backgrounds. While they lacked grand ambitions, their families would arrange things once they joined the army, so Chu Feng was unconcerned about their futures.
Finally, after visiting Xu Lan, Chu Feng left with Xu Yan. When Xu Yan saw Chu Feng’s Flying Eagle Warship again, she was still somewhat surprised.
“Can this Flying Eagle Warship really go to the front lines?” Xu Yan asked.
“Of course. It was specially equipped for me,” Chu Feng said proudly.
Xu Yan rolled her eyes at his boastfulness but was genuinely curious about Chu Feng’s current level of strength and why he was so highly regarded.
Boarding the warship, Xu Yan’s eyes flickered as she asked, “Wild man, how strong are you now?”
Upon hearing this, over a dozen guards on board all looked over, clearly very curious. One spoke up, “Master, why don’t you give us a hint?”
Seeing Xu Yan’s expectant face, and the others as well, Chu Feng smiled mysteriously and said, “Guess.”
The guards were speechless. Xu Yan ground her teeth, rolled her eyes again, and cursed, “Go to hell!”

The Flying Eagle Warship soared into the sky and quickly left the Holy City. However, at Chu Feng’s request, it first headed toward Jin Yang Mountain.
“Why Jin Yang Mountain?” Xu Yan asked.
“I want to visit Xuan Yue Valley,” Chu Feng replied without hiding his intention. Since he was leaving the Holy City, he intended to retrieve Xiao Jin.
Upon hearing this, Xu Yan and the guards all froze. Xuan Yue Valley was a forbidden land of the human race, extremely perilous.
Xu Yan said, “Where are you going? Isn’t that courting death?”
Chu Feng smiled slightly. “I want to broaden your horizons. You’ll understand once we get there.”
Xu Yan did not know what Chu Feng was up to but figured he would not risk his life lightly. She decided not to ask further and wait for the truth to reveal itself.
At the Flying Eagle Warship’s speed, they would soon reach Jin Yang Mountain. Yet this journey was destined to be far from smooth.
About six hundred miles from the Holy City, Chu Feng’s heart suddenly tightened. In an instant, he sensed a sudden murderous intent.
Behind the Flying Eagle Warship, a massive palm imprint surged through the void, its overwhelming might causing the space to tremble.
The palm imprint approached swiftly, bearing tremendous power that chilled Xu Yan and the guards to their core, filling them with despair.
At that moment, Chu Feng’s expression turned cold. He drew the Domain Sword with a flash. Swinging it, a colossal sword aura, twenty zhang long, shot forth.
The sword aura shook heaven and earth with even greater momentum. In an instant, it shattered the incoming palm imprint.
Although the sword aura shrank by half, it did not dissipate. Having destroyed the palm imprint, it continued forward, striking at a gray-clad figure behind it.
The attacker was none other than Tu Zhong, the East King’s top expert. Though his previous strike was a mere probe, he had not expected it to be blocked so easily.
Tu Zhong’s pupils contracted. His face betrayed no emotion, but inside he was startled. That clash showed the opponent’s power was clearly greater than his own.
“At least it’s confirmed—he really has caught up to Yu Yang. I just don’t know how much strength he unleashed in that last sword strike,” Tu Zhong murmured to himself, then calmly destroyed the remaining sword aura with his palm.
As a Sacred Spirit Warrior, Tu Zhong could fly through the void. In terms of speed, he was even faster than the Flying Eagle Warship. Thus, the distance between him and the ship rapidly closed.
Seeing the relentlessly approaching figure, Chu Feng frowned slightly and said gravely, “A Sacred Spirit Warrior, after all.”
Upon hearing this, Xu Yan and the guards were terrified. A Sacred Spirit Warrior was coming to kill them—was there any hope of survival?
“Why has it come to this?” Xu Yan said nervously.
“Looks like the East King has finally lost his patience and decided to act against me,” Chu Feng said calmly.
