Chapter 125: Mythical-Level Figure
When the young man in silver and his two companions realized that the person with Xu Yan must be her sweetheart, they turned to look at Chu Feng and were momentarily stunned.
Although all three were talented elites of the Xuan Camp and considered handsome in their own right, they could not help but feel inferior when faced with this man, whose grace was like jade and whose presence was transcendently elegant and near-perfect.
Yet, this feeling lasted only an instant. It served mostly to incite their desire for revenge: "So you're handsome, huh? Just you wait, I'll show you!"
In the territory of the Xuan Camp, the three had always been high-profile, reigning supreme for a long time, and had never feared anyone. With their heads held high and arms crossed over their chests, they walked straight to the table where Chu Feng and Xu Yan were sitting.
Having heard the shouting earlier, Chu Feng and Xu Yan had paid it no mind, but now they realized the three were looking for them.
"Bang!" The man in silver once again used his signature move of slamming the table, then pointed at Chu Feng and said to Xu Yan, "Xu Yan, is this brat your sweetheart?"
Xu Yan did not know the intent of these people. She believed Chu Feng understood her feelings, even though they had never explicitly spoken of them. Being asked such a question in front of him made her face turn bright red. She tried hard to remain calm and asked, "What do you want?"
"What do we want? Heh heh!" The man in silver put on a menacing look, then glared at Chu Feng and said bitterly, "Naturally, it’s to give your sweetheart a good beating! To let you know that choosing him was a mistake."
At this moment, the students dining in the shop all looked over, their eyes filled with anticipation, as if waiting for the commotion about to unfold.
Chu Feng was momentarily taken aback. Give him a beating? It seemed he hadn't heard such words since the Saint's Trial eight years ago.
Xu Yan found it utterly ridiculous. She looked at the three as if they were idiots and said, "A beating? Do as you please; I’ve actually been wanting to give him a beating myself."
The three men were confused, as things were not developing as they had imagined.
"We are going to beat your sweetheart; aren't you worried?" the man in silver asked tentatively.
"Worried? Of course I’m worried," Xu Yan said, glancing at them while thinking to herself, *Idiots, I'm worried that if he uses too much force, he’ll kill you!*
"It seems this girl won't cry until she sees the coffin. Let's grant her wish and give her sweetheart a good thrashing; that will also vent some anger for Jiang Cheng," the young man in blue beside the silver-clad man said.
The silver-clad youth nodded and remarked, "I find this brat quite an eyesore. Look at his attitude—is he ignoring us?"
Chu Feng was completely indifferent, watching the scene as if it were a play. His attitude greatly annoyed the man in silver. Dark-faced, he glared at Chu Feng and said, "Brat, we won't bully you. If you're a man, come out and face us one-on-one. You can pick any one of us!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the three stepped back in unison, assuming their stances and waiting for Chu Feng to accept the challenge.
"Uh..." Chu Feng was stunned. Was this a challenge? Although he feared nothing, if he were to accept, even he would feel it was too much of a bullying act.
Seeing Chu Feng stunned, the man in silver said to his companions, "I don't think this brat dares to fight!"
"Fight your sister, Tao Ping! Shut your damn mouth!" A loud shout erupted as Jiang Cheng rushed over and stood in front of the three.
Jiang Cheng had been feeling uneasy outside the shop. Though he had been rejected by Xu Yan, he didn't want to be a bully, nor did he want to leave a bad impression on her. He had decided to come in and intervene, and also to see what kind of person her sweetheart was. However, the moment he stepped inside and saw Chu Feng, he broke out in a cold sweat. He had never expected it to be *this* man.
Chu Feng had participated in the Saint's Trial three times, and Jiang Cheng had been there for all of them. Chu Feng's peerless brilliance during those trials was a memory Jiang Cheng would never forget; how could he fail to recognize him? Just the thought of attacking this god-like man made Jiang Cheng shudder. When he heard Tao Ping's provocative words, he was furious, but he had to stop them immediately.
The man in silver glared at Jiang Cheng and scolded, "Damn it, if you want to fight yourself, you don't have to curse at me!"
Jiang Cheng felt like vomiting blood. Ignoring them, he glared at the three before turning to Chu Feng, cupping his hands and apologizing: "Brother Chu Feng, I am truly sorry. These three idiots didn't know it was you who had graced us with your presence. Please forgive them, I beg you!"
"Uh..." Chu Feng was slightly startled, then realized the situation. He remembered seeing this person on the battle platforms of the Saint's Trials many times, so it made sense for the man to recognize him.
"It's a small matter, not worth mentioning," Chu Feng said. He truly hadn't taken it to heart. Having understood the cause of this, he looked at Xu Yan with a smile, only to receive a roll of her eyes.
"You three idiots, come over here and apologize to Brother Chu Feng!" Jiang Cheng shouted.
The three, who had been dazed, trembled. They couldn't believe what they had heard—this man was actually Chu Feng.
Tao Ping asked with a trembling voice, "The one from the Heaven Camp?"
Jiang Cheng glared at him: "Obviously! Do you think you're worthy of raising a hand against him? Brother Chu Feng could crush you with a single finger!"
Not just the three, but everyone in the shop—including the shopkeeper and the waiter—were dumbfounded. They had never expected to encounter the legendary, invincible myth in the flesh.
Since the Saint's Trial eight years ago, the name Chu Feng had shaken the entire Spirit War Pavilion. In the second trial, he had been even more dazzling, considered by the elders to be a heaven-defying genius who might catch up to Yu Yang.
Who was Yu Yang? A prodigy seen once in several millennia, considered the most powerful Saint Spirit warrior in human history—there was no debate about that. The elders' assessment of Chu Feng had reached the highest point imaginable!
From that moment on, Chu Feng's name was etched into the heart of every student; he was considered an unshakable myth. Even though he hadn't participated in the most recent trial four years ago, his name had continued to spread through every camp. Now, few could say for certain how far this legendary figure had truly progressed.
The three men looked crestfallen, their guts twisted with regret. They wished they could bash their heads against a wall. Tao Ping hurriedly stepped forward and cupped his hands: "Brother Chu Feng—no, Senior Chu Feng, we have offended you. Please, forgive us!" The others followed suit, calling him "Senior" repeatedly.
Being called "Senior" left Chu Feng feeling both amused and helpless. He waved his hand and said, "Forget it, go on."
"Thank you, Senior, for your forgiveness!" the three said in unison, breathing a sigh of relief. Yet, having finally encountered a legendary figure, they were reluctant to leave. They shamelessly stood behind Jiang Cheng, acting like his lackeys.
The other students in the shop were wide-eyed with excitement, some secretly spreading the news. Jiang Cheng, unwilling to let this chance slip, looked at Xu Yan and bowed: "Xu Yan, if I had known you and Brother Chu Feng were together, I would have stepped aside long ago. Please forgive my past intrusions."
Xu Yan blushed but offered no explanation, saying, "What's in the past is in the past; there is no need to speak of it."
Chu Feng didn't know what to say. With his identity exposed and seeing the behavior of those around him, he felt a sense of impending trouble.
The waiter brought over two bowls of wontons. Xu Yan handed Chu Feng a pair of chopsticks: "Eat, the wontons here are first-class!"
"Oh!" Chu Feng took the chopsticks and nodded.
"Say, Jiang Cheng, are you just going to watch us eat?" Xu Yan asked.
Jiang Cheng was incredibly awkward. He wondered why he had to meet them in a snack street; if it were a restaurant, he could have invited them to drink. But here? He couldn't just invite a legendary figure to eat a bowl of wontons. If that got out, he would be a laughingstock.
"The taste is truly excellent!" Chu Feng remarked after a bite, nodding in approval. He smiled at Jiang Cheng: "Since we've met, it's fate. Would you all like to sit and have a bowl of wontons? My treat."
Jiang Cheng and the others were overwhelmed with gratitude, nodding repeatedly. The onlookers looked on with envy—a bowl of wontons bought by a legendary figure was worth more than gold! More importantly, it was a chance to build a connection.
Watching their reaction, Xu Yan couldn't help but laugh, feeling a wave of emotion.
The table was large enough. Jiang Cheng and his three companions sat opposite them, and soon the waiter brought four more bowls. As the six ate, Jiang Cheng and Chu Feng chatted, sharing common ground from their experiences in the Saint's Trials, while the other three listened in awe.
Gradually, they realized the shop was becoming packed. Soon, people were even standing to eat, all there to catch a glimpse of the legend. The shopkeeper and the waiter marveled at the incredible charisma of a legendary figure.
