Chapter Twenty-Two: The Fire Spirit Pearl
“Uncle, does that mean... the Chaos World within me can also nurture a Fire Spirit Pearl?” Lin Cheng asked expectantly.
The swordsman in white replied, “Of course. However... the formation of a single spirit pearl requires at least a million years.”
Hearing this, Lin Cheng’s excitement instantly faded.
He had been imagining that, by harnessing the ancestral qi of the five elements within his body, he could condense five elemental spirit pearls and become invincible across the realm! He pictured himself wielding the Five Spirit Pearls, with all the heroes of the world bowing in submission and worship—yet before he could fully relish the thought, it vanished like a soap bubble.
The swordsman in white seemed to see through Lin Cheng’s thoughts and said easily, “Isn’t there a ready-made Fire Spirit Pearl right before you? Subdue it... and you will become the emperor of flames, with all fires bowing to your command.”
Lin Cheng was tempted, but hesitated. “Didn’t you say it’s nearly impossible for the Fire Spirit Pearl to accept a master? If it were possible, surely the one who sealed it here wouldn’t have done so...”
The swordsman in white replied, “For others, it is indeed impossible. But have you forgotten... your body has been transformed by the ancestral qi of the five elements, forging the Five Element Sword Body. Your body naturally carries the aura of ancestral qi. For the Fire Spirit Pearl, this is the nourishment it most craves, the scent it finds most familiar... Even if you don’t claim it, it will follow you nonetheless.”
Lin Cheng was overjoyed at the swordsman’s words.
“Then... Uncle, how do we subdue it? And as for the seal, I’m nowhere near powerful enough to break it...”
The swordsman in white chuckled, “At least you show some self-awareness... Such a trivial seal...”
In the starry sword realm, the swordsman in white appeared, and with a casual flick of his finger, a sliver of white light shot forth.
Suddenly, atop the stone platform before Lin Cheng, black runes erupted, forming an eight-trigram seal array. Powerful sealing forces surged, attempting to resist the white light flicked by the swordsman.
Yet the moment the white light touched the array, it pierced it as easily as thin paper, shattering it in an instant.
The seal was broken!
As the seal atop the stone platform was undone...
...
In a distant black ocean, islands stood tall. On one such island, a red-haired elder was trapped within an array, meditating to restore his strength in order to break free
