“No need, if you come over now, I’ll soon be heading to work,” Li Qingying said.

He Haoxuan smiled and said, “Honey, do you know Lu Ran?”

“How could I not know Lu Ran? He’s a big star,” Li Qingying replied. “Why do you ask?”

“Well, I figured you’d like listening to Lu Ran sing, so this morning I purposely went to the stadium early to line up. I’ve been standing here all day without eating or even drinking a drop of water, but I finally managed to buy two VIP tickets. We’ll go watch together,” He Haoxuan boasted shamelessly.

Since bragging is tax-free, Li Qingying, busy all day at the office, had no idea that He Haoxuan had just eaten five large bowls of rice and drunk three pots of tea earlier.

“Wait, didn’t you tell me earlier that Qingwan asked you to go to Qingshan University on business today?” Li Qingying asked curiously.

Damn, he almost forgot about that. He Haoxuan wanted to smack his own mouth.

But who was He Haoxuan? His skin was thicker than bulletproof armor. Of course, he wouldn’t admit it. “Haha, Qingying, even though Li Qingwan asked me to handle something, your matters are a billion times more important. So I went to buy tickets first; I’ll head to her school this afternoon for some basketball game,” He Haoxuan laughed.

“You play basketball?” Li Qingying asked in surprise.

He Haoxuan shook his head. “No, but Li Qingying told me I’m just a substitute player, here to fill in.”

“I thought so. How could you play basketball? When I was in school, I loved watching the boys play; it looked so handsome,” Li Qingying said dreamily.

Her prince charming had to be a great basketball player, but He Haoxuan lacked that quality. Still, missing one trait didn’t matter.

“Wifey, let me tell you a secret,” He Haoxuan paused, then whispered, “Actually, I’m really good at basketball. I just don’t want too many fangirls liking me, so I keep it quiet. But since you’re my wife, I’ll tell you.”

“All right, got it. If there’s nothing else, I’ll let you go,” Li Qingying smiled.

She knew He Haoxuan loved to brag, so she didn’t expose him.

Let him brag; it did no harm. Let him enjoy his little manly pride.

Li Qingying noticed He Haoxuan had this flaw: he liked to boast in front of her to save face.

But he was genuinely good to her; he would fulfill whatever she asked.

For example, if He Haoxuan had a hundred yuan, and she asked for money, he’d find a way to give her two hundred.

That was the mark of a man.

If a man had ten million but only gave you a thousand, it was very different from a man who only had a hundred but gave you two hundred.

So, though He Haoxuan was poor, he treated her very well. To prevent others from looking down on her, he even rented two BMW X7s.

Last time, to avoid suspicion from Bai Lu, he even forged a fake driver’s license and fooled the police. That was no small feat.

Though He Haoxuan was quite lousy and Li Qingying didn’t much like him, he was still better than some.

“All right, honey, see you later,” He Haoxuan hung up and pressed the accelerator hard.

Li Qingying smiled and headed to the office.

“See you later? It’s noon now, and traffic is terrible. If He Haoxuan comes here, it’ll take at least an hour,” she thought.

Back in the office, Mo Xiufang immediately brought her a strong cup of tea.

Mo Xiufang knew Li Qingying’s habits; because of the heavy workload, she usually didn’t rest at noon.

But noon was when drowsiness hit hardest, so a strong tea was necessary to stay alert.

Li Qingying glanced at the tea and whispered, “Xiufang, can He Haoxuan come to work here anytime?”

Mo Xiufang was momentarily stunned. She had thought He Haoxuan wasn’t coming to work here anymore.

Generally, if someone was assigned this kind of job, they wouldn’t want to come.

She had already arranged it, but He Haoxuan hadn’t shown up yet. She assumed he was being picky.

“General Manager Li, Mr. He Haoxuan can come to see me anytime. I’ve already made the arrangements,” Mo Xiufang said.

“All right, I’ll remind him again,” Li Qingying said helplessly.

He Haoxuan was usually idle and certainly wouldn’t want this job. But if he stayed home doing nothing, his mother would be even more upset.

If he didn’t work soon, his mother might kick him out before a year was up.

A year later? Li Qingying suddenly thought of this.

Before, when she and He Haoxuan had no ties, she thought a year later they’d just divorce and separate.

But after spending months together, he seemed genuinely good to her, which left her a bit confused.

Should she divorce, or continue like this?

Li Qingying felt a headache coming on and shook her head hard. “Xiufang, you can leave. Don’t come in unless I call.”

She wanted some quiet time. Sigh, Grandpa, do you know? Your decision might ruin me for life!

Now, Grandpa was nowhere to be found, and Grandma and the others were dissatisfied with him. If it weren’t for Quange Trading standing up for her, she didn’t know where she’d have been kicked out to.

Well, she couldn’t control so much. She’d just take it one step at a time and see how things went.

As Li Qingying pondered these troubles, the door quietly opened, and a figure slipped inside.

Li Qingying sensed someone entering and frowned. “Xiufang, didn’t I tell you not to come in and disturb me?”

“Wifey, I just told your beautiful secretary not to worry,” He Haoxuan said, closing the door with a sly grin.

Li Qingying was startled. “Huh? He Haoxuan, weren’t you buying tickets at the stadium? How did you get here so quickly?”

“I—I was almost here when I called you,” He Haoxuan said deliberately.

He had driven like a maniac to get here fast, running some red lights. But he had already called Fang Yongsheng to take care of the matter.

“Oh, I see.” Li Qingying wasn’t sure why, but seeing He Haoxuan by her side seemed to calm her, easing her earlier restlessness.

“He Haoxuan, you can sit by yourself. I have some work to do,” Li Qingying said, glancing at the lounge sofa, then picked up the strong tea on the table, intending to drink it.

But He Haoxuan dashed forward and snatched the tea from her hands.
