Chapter 60: You Rented a Car Again
That meant she would receive over eighty thousand in bonuses this month; just thinking about it made her want to shout with joy. However, earlier the boss had quietly told her that, since Mr. He had shown her such favor, she ought to express her gratitude. Women, after all, if they can keep up with a wealthy man, can save themselves a lifetime of struggle. Especially when Mr. He was young and handsome—a man like that was rarer than a thousand lanterns. Even being his seventh or eighth would be no shame; as long as one could see it in the right light, life would be dazzling and bright.
Yet Ma Xiaozhi had never dated before; she was afraid. But with the temptation of thirty or forty thousand, her legs seemed to move of their own accord, slowly carrying her toward He Haoxuan.
When He Haoxuan saw Ma Xiaozhi approaching, he said, "Ma Xiaozhi, here’s my bank card. Go and swipe it. Same price as before, same interior as before, and help me pick an easy-to-remember license plate."
Ma Xiaozhi hurriedly took the bank card. "Mr. He, our boss has already coordinated for you. I heard that this time the license plate number is 78888."
"That’s an easy number to remember. How much is it? Just add it in; I don’t owe you any favors," He Haoxuan replied.
The boss, hearing that He Haoxuan was willing to pay for the license plate, could only accept.
He Haoxuan sat in the VIP room, bored, looking at his phone. There was no one beside him, and other customers who came were ushered to other VIP rooms.
Before long, Ma Xiaozhi returned with the bank card, moving slowly.
"Mr. He." Ma Xiaozhi’s hand trembled as she handed over the card.
Although she didn’t want to become He Haoxuan’s woman, she’d heard from her female colleagues that it was necessary to give him some ambiguous signals.
He Haoxuan took the card and slipped it into his pocket, continuing to look at his phone.
Ma Xiaozhi felt a spark of indignation. She was the youngest and prettiest girl in the shop; usually, when male customers entered, their eyes would practically stick to her. But He Haoxuan didn’t even spare her a glance. Did he think she was ugly?
Annoyed, Ma Xiaozhi stamped her foot. But she was wearing high heels, and lost her balance, tumbling toward He Haoxuan.
Absorbed in his phone, He Haoxuan noticed Ma Xiaozhi falling and quickly freed a hand to push her upright, intending to steady her.
Hmm, soft—something felt off.
He Haoxuan looked up and saw Ma Xiaozhi’s face flushed crimson; his hand was in a place it shouldn’t be.
"Sorry, I didn’t mean to," He Haoxuan quickly withdrew his hand.
"It’s okay," Ma Xiaozhi began, but she stumbled again toward him. Still dazed, she hadn’t regained her balance.
Once more, He Haoxuan reached out to steady her, and the same scene played out.
Ma Xiaozhi stood frozen, wanting to scream, yet something felt wrong. Wasn’t she supposed to flirt with He Haoxuan? But this kind of flirtation was not what she wanted.
He Haoxuan, a little irritated, scolded, "Ma Xiaozhi, stand properly. Who behaves like this? Do you want me to hold you up forever?"
Instantly, Ma Xiaozhi felt mortified and hurried out.
He Haoxuan shook his head and continued looking at his phone.
That day, Li Dasong felt his anger boiling over.
Over at Quange Trading, when they learned that Bai Li Group was no longer headed by Li Qingying, they refused to cooperate. Their project staff pulled out, leaving only Bai Li Group’s people—how could the partnership go on?
Li Dasong called Wu Shaorong, saying they’d already signed the contract and Quange Trading had transferred a hundred million in funds. If they didn’t send staff over soon, Bai Li Group would terminate the partnership and find someone else.
Wu Shaorong’s reply was firm: they would only deal with Li Qingying, not anyone else. If Bai Li Group was so capable, they could swallow the hundred million; Quange Trading wouldn’t care.
Li Dasong was overjoyed at first and rushed to tell the Old Lady Li, saying they’d struck it rich and could keep Quange Trading’s hundred million.
Upon hearing this, Old Lady Li slapped him in fury, calling him a fool.
What kind of group was Quange Trading? Offending them would spell trouble for Bai Li Group in Qingshan City—no one would dare do business with them. Besides, no other company would take on Quange Trading’s previous projects, lest they incur retaliation—it would be disastrous.
So the Old Lady Li told Li Dasong to find someone to plead with Quange Trading again, see if things could be resolved.
That evening, Li Dasong invited a friend to dinner, hoping he could intercede. This friend had business dealings with Quange Trading and was on good terms.
When Li Dasong drove his BMW X7 to the company entrance, he saw He Haoxuan leaning against the driver’s door of another BMW X7.
"Damn, He Haoxuan, you’re renting cars again?" Li Dasong parked and got out, seeing the car wasn’t yesterday’s—the license plate was different, 78888.
"I bought another BMW X7," He Haoxuan shrugged.
Li Dasong spat, "Come on, He Haoxuan, have you no shame? Renting a car and claiming you bought it? If you rent another tomorrow, will you say you bought that too?"
Li Dasong’s mind stirred—where did He Haoxuan rent his cars? That place must have a lot of nice rides. If he wanted to show off in the future, he could rent a BMW X7 to impress women. Compared to the X5, the X7 offered a totally different experience, sure to bring instant success.
Just then, Li Qingying arrived, seeing He Haoxuan with the BMW X7 and walking over curiously, asking in a low voice, "Did Mom let you drive this car?"
Yesterday, Song Li had said that He Haoxuan was forbidden from touching the BMW X7 ever again.
"I bought another one; look, the license plate is different," He Haoxuan replied with a smile.
Li Qingying checked the plate—it was true.
She sat in the passenger seat and said to He Haoxuan, "You rented another car, didn’t you?"
"If you say so," He Haoxuan said helplessly.
If he told the truth, she wouldn’t believe it; if he lied, she’d believe.
"Sigh, you don’t need to spend this money. I’m not vain; even if you drove an electric scooter, I wouldn’t blame you," Li Qingying sighed.
"Wife, does that mean you like me now?" He Haoxuan teased.
Li Qingying’s expression changed, shooting him a glare. "Who says I like you? Don’t flatter yourself."
"Sigh, looks like in a few months we’ll be divorced and going our separate ways," He Haoxuan said gloomily as he drove.
Li Qingying said nothing, and the atmosphere in the car chilled instantly.
When He Haoxuan drove back to the Li family home, Song Li stormed out in a fury, "He Haoxuan, how did you bring the car back from the dealership? The mechanic said it wouldn’t be ready until tomorrow! And from now on, you’re not allowed to touch my car—if you do, I’ll have your head!"
