Chapter 30: Like My Rose
Li Qingwan was notoriously hard to pursue. Even when together with her, Wang Zhisheng hadn’t managed to hold her hand, which made him realize he might never truly win her over. Just then, the beautiful Minnie made advances toward him—how could he let such an opportunity slip by?
Wang Zhisheng deliberately told Minnie that he’d already slept with Li Qingwan. If she wanted to be his girlfriend, she’d need to at least make the same sacrifice. In this way, Wang Zhisheng secured Minnie for himself.
With two women vying for him, Wang Zhisheng was sure to benefit. He even wondered if, through this maneuvering, he might finally get Li Qingwan as well. The thought of her beauty and long legs nearly made him weak in the knees.
Minnie walked up to Li Qingwan and said with a deliberate smile, “Qingwan, sorry, but my boyfriend only brought one car, which seats three besides me. So, Xiao Juan and the others will ride with me. You’ll have to get a cab yourself.”
As Wang Zhisheng walked past He Haoxuan, he couldn’t stand the sight of someone so handsome and said mockingly, “When you’re poor, there’s nothing you can do. Trying to pick the school’s flower? If security finds out, you’ll be fined a thousand yuan.”
He Haoxuan glanced at Wang Zhisheng, then at his Mercedes, inside which lay a bouquet of red roses—far more beautiful than the yellow flowers in his own hand.
Wang Zhisheng went over to Li Qingwan and deliberately put his arm around Minnie’s slender waist.
Minnie, too, leaned into Wang Zhisheng, playing the part of a loving couple to provoke Li Qingwan. “Zhisheng, you didn’t want Qingwan and left her to pursue me. I almost feel bad. But then again, I’m better than Qingwan, so you made the right choice.”
Wang Zhisheng laughed insincerely.
After so long pursuing Li Qingwan, he knew she was someone who cared deeply about appearances. With just a little manipulation, she’d certainly compete with Minnie, allowing him to reap the rewards—perhaps even finally getting his way with Li Qingwan.
“Don’t worry, everyone,” Wang Zhisheng said, his gaze greedily sweeping over the three girls nearby. “I’ve booked a private room at the hotel tonight. We’ll order some good dishes—let’s all enjoy a nice meal with Minnie.”
Though Xiao Juan and her friends weren’t as stunning as Li Qingwan or Minnie, they were all young and pretty. If he could have some fun for free, why not?
After all, his family was wealthy; if he didn’t enjoy himself while he was young, when would he?
Seeing Minnie and the others mocking her, Li Qingwan was so angry she could almost breathe fire. She called out, “He Haoxuan, come over here.”
As she did, a bouquet of red roses was presented to her, followed by He Haoxuan’s voice: “These are for you.”
“Wow, it’s that guy from before!” Xiao Juan exclaimed with delight. “Qingwan, so he’s here to chase you!”
“That’s right,” Li Qingwan replied, lifting her chin with feigned arrogance.
“So it wasn’t Wang Zhisheng who dumped Qingwan—Qingwan just saw someone more handsome and wealthier, so she left Zhisheng behind,” the other two girls nodded in agreement.
He Haoxuan, hearing this, was completely bewildered.
What was going on? Wasn’t he just supposed to be the driver?
Li Qingying had asked him to come take Li Qingwan to a show, and the flowers, he’d thought, were for someone in the performance.
How had he suddenly become Li Qingwan’s suitor? She’d always looked down on him—surely she’d scold him for being useless.
And did Li Qingwan need her eyes checked? Why did she say he was pursuing her?
Wang Zhisheng, seeing He Haoxuan supposedly chasing Li Qingwan, was so angry he could spit blood. But with Minnie there, he couldn’t say anything.
Suddenly, Wang Zhisheng noticed the bouquet in Li Qingwan’s hand—it was identical to the one he’d bought.
Wait, that guy had yellow flowers before, not red roses.
Wang Zhisheng rushed to his Mercedes, opened the door, and found only yellow flowers inside—his red roses were gone.
No need to ask—clearly, that guy had stolen them.
Li Qingwan said to Xiao Juan and the others, “You guys can take his BMW X5. It’s an SUV, so it’s spacious and comfortable.”
Seeing He Haoxuan still looking lost, Li Qingwan grabbed his arm and pulled him toward the BMW. “He Haoxuan, I’m warning you—play along with me, or I’ll make your life very difficult.”
“Play your boyfriend? No way—I’m your brother-in-law.” He Haoxuan shook his head firmly.
“If you don’t agree, I’ll tell my sister you harassed me,” Li Qingwan threatened.
“Come on, would she believe that? I’m so upright—” Before He Haoxuan could finish, Li Qingwan clung tightly to his arm, her soft curves making him panic.
“Now she’ll believe it, won’t she? Don’t push me, He Haoxuan,” Li Qingwan said with a cold smile.
“Alright, alright, let go. I’ll play along, okay?” He Haoxuan said, face full of misery.
He’d just heard what happened—Li Qingwan was willing to use her own brother-in-law just to humiliate Minnie.
“Hmph, good. And don’t you dare mention this to my sister, or you’ll regret it,” Li Qingwan threatened in a low voice.
He Haoxuan nodded vigorously. He wasn’t stupid—why would he tell Li Qingying? Even her snobbish mother-in-law would come after him with a kitchen knife.
Once He Haoxuan agreed, Li Qingwan released him and, like a tigress, snapped, “He Haoxuan, hurry up and drive. Make sure you act well tonight, or you’ll never get another chance to pursue me.”
“Alright,” He Haoxuan said as he hurried over to open the driver’s door.
“You brat! Did you steal my red roses?” Wang Zhisheng ran over with the yellow flowers, shouting angrily, “Are you looking for trouble?”
“What are you talking about? I bought these red roses—how could they be yours? You have flowers in your hand, don’t you?” He Haoxuan replied, looking genuinely puzzled.
Li Qingwan shot Wang Zhisheng a dismissive glance. “Exactly. These are from He Haoxuan—everyone saw it. How could they be yours?”
“Yeah, we saw it too. We can vouch for him,” Xiao Juan and the others chimed in.
At that moment, a security guard walked over, saw Wang Zhisheng holding the yellow flowers from the flowerbeds, and barked, “Which department and class are you from? Damaging school property—are you going to pay the fine or go to the student office?”
“No, sir, these aren’t mine. He picked them,” Wang Zhisheng said, pointing at He Haoxuan.
But the guard didn’t buy it. The flowers were in Wang Zhisheng’s hand, and the girls could testify. Grabbing his collar, the guard prepared to drag him away.
Wang Zhisheng had no choice but to pay the fine to settle the matter.
Watching the security guard leave, Wang Zhisheng stepped aside, took out his phone, and dialed a number. “Brother Dao, it’s Zhisheng. Bring two of your guys tonight—I have a little job for you.”
After hanging up, a fierce light flashed in Wang Zhisheng’s eyes.
