Chapter 133: Claiming the Moral High Ground First
"Why should we leave?" He Haoxuan demanded indignantly. "We are going in right now to get our money. As far as I am concerned, the one who demands payment is the one in charge."
With that, He Haoxuan marched forward.
The female secretary, who had been watching them, recognized Xiao Yu and immediately realized that the handsome man with her was part of the same group. How could she possibly let him inside?
"Hey, who do you think you are? This is our company! Get out of here right now, or I'm calling security!" the secretary shrieked angrily.
"Fine, call security. And while you're at it, call the police too. I'll be waiting," He Haoxuan replied. He walked straight over to the electrical panel and threw the main switch, cutting power to the entire floor.
"Ah! Why is the power out? I hadn't saved my document yet!" a shout of frustration erupted from a nearby office.
"I still have a report to print that needs to go to the contract department immediately! What am I supposed to do?" another employee yelled in anger.
The secretary shrieked, "How dare you cause trouble here? Call security, now!"
He Haoxuan ignored the commotion and turned to Xiao Yu. "Does their company occupy another floor?"
"Yes, the one below," Xiao Yu replied, looking bewildered.
He Haoxuan was truly a troublemaker. Without a word, he had simply cut the power—how were they supposed to work like this?
As Xiao Yu stood there in a daze, He Haoxuan was already sprinting toward the emergency stairwell. Since the electrical panels were located in roughly the same position on each floor, he reached the level below and quickly cut the power there as well. To ensure they couldn't simply flip it back on, he applied force to the switch, breaking the mechanism entirely. Unless an electrician brought a new switch, there would be no power.
Back on the eleventh floor, He Haoxuan saw that the power in the Qingguo Company office was back on; the secretary must have had someone flip the breaker.
"You're just in time! Our security guard is looking for you," the secretary pointed at He Haoxuan and yelled, "Guard! Get over here! This is the guy who messed with our power!"
He Haoxuan didn't say a word. He rushed to the electrical panel, gave it another violent yank, and shattered the switch. This time, even if they wanted to turn it on, they couldn't easily restore power to the Qingguo Company.
"Ah! Why is it off again?"
"Damn it! I just turned it back on! If this keeps happening, my hard drive is going to crash!" Wails of despair echoed from the office.
"You... you—" The secretary was so furious she could barely speak, pointing a trembling finger at He Haoxuan.
The security guard rushed over, shouting at He Haoxuan, "What do you think you're doing? Do you know that's against the law?"
"Against your mother," He Haoxuan retorted coldly. "Get lost, or I won't be so polite. Xiao Yu, take out your phone and record this. Make sure you capture that I am acting in self-defense."
He Haoxuan had always been a law-abiding citizen; he knew better than to act recklessly, as there would be consequences. After all, he was a married man now. He wasn't like he used to be—a lone wolf abroad who could do as he pleased, fearless even in the face of death.
Xiao Yu, still stunned, was a bit intimidated by him. Seeing him give the command, she immediately took out her phone and pointed it at him.
Just then, the guard lunged at He Haoxuan, throwing a punch. He Haoxuan stepped back and asked, "Don't hit me, or I will have to defend myself."
"Defend yourself? I'm going to kill you today!" The guard had long been infatuated with the secretary; charmed by her beauty and figure, he had indulged in many fantasies. Of course, they were just fantasies—he never dared to act on them. But things were different now. With the secretary batting her eyelashes at him and calling him "Officer" repeatedly, he felt like a superhero. If she wanted this guy taught a lesson, how could he refuse? Even if he didn't kill the man, he would beat him into a pulp to show the secretary what a strong man he was. Perhaps, moved by his display, she might even agree to a late-night rendezvous.
Driven by this thought, the guard threw himself into the fray. When his first punch missed, he jumped up and launched a flying kick that looked reasonably impressive. He Haoxuan simply stepped back again, not retaliating.
Seeing his attacks miss, the guard grew even more incensed. The secretary, assuming the guard was winning since He Haoxuan wasn't fighting back, cheered, "Get him! Teach him a lesson! I've already called the boss; he's on his way to handle this. Hmph, he's just a common laborer—who cares if he gets beaten?"
The guard felt a pang of annoyance at the mention of the boss coming to handle the situation. If a small matter like this required the boss's intervention, what was the point of him being here?
Looking at the secretary, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. "No need for your boss to come back," he roared. "I can handle this myself!"
He lunged forward with another punch. It was a vicious blow; an ordinary person would have been severely injured if it landed. Seeing that he had fulfilled his duty of waiting through three strikes, He Haoxuan finally retaliated, meeting the guard's fist with his own.
With a sharp *crack*, the guard wilted like a frosted vegetable and collapsed to the ground. "Ow! It hurts! It hurts!" the guard shrieked.
He Haoxuan turned to Xiao Yu. "Alright, you can stop recording."
Xiao Yu nodded and lowered her phone.
A moment later, He Haoxuan strode over and delivered a kick to the guard. *Thud.* The guard flew backward, slammed into the wall, and passed out.
"This... this is—" Terrified, the secretary scrambled back into the office. "Quick! Call the police!"
He Haoxuan walked inside and sneered, "Calling the police won't help you. We are here to collect a debt—you owe us 100,000, and it's time to pay up. If the police come, that would be perfect; they can haul you away. And as for that guard, he was the one who attacked me first—go ahead, call the police and have them arrest him."
The secretary had been reaching for the phone, but hearing this, she slowly pulled her hand back. He was right. They were the ones in the wrong here; if the police arrived, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Besides, He Haoxuan hadn't started a fight or smashed anything; he had simply cut the power.
