Chapter 131: He Is Very Bad
But now that Li Qingying had introduced them as He Haoxuan's classmates, it seemed Song Li was about to fly into a rage.
"Auntie, hello. We just came over to sit for a moment, and we're leaving now; we don't want to disturb you," Cao Dawei said hurriedly.
This was a disaster—he was going to provoke He Haoxuan's mother-in-law.
To his surprise, Song Li smiled at Cao Dawei. "It's fine. You're Haoxuan's classmates, aren't you? Please, sit down, don't be strangers. If you haven't had enough to eat, just order some delivery."
He Haoxuan was a wealthy man, so she had to curry favor with him; there might be benefits for them later on.
"Ah," Cao Dawei gasped in shock.
This version of events felt wrong. Generally speaking, weren't live-in sons-in-law usually bullied by everyone? Cao Dawei had secretly learned that He Haoxuan was a live-in son-in-law for the Li family, lived a miserable life, and was constantly berated as a good-for-nothing. But the scene unfolding before him seemed quite different.
"Haoxuan, my brother just called to ask when he can start work," Song Li said, finally getting to the point. She had a favor to ask of He Haoxuan, so she had to swallow her pride.
"That's easy. Tomorrow. Tell him to go to the Yifang Company and see General Manager Fang Chen; they will arrange everything," He Haoxuan replied.
"Wonderful, wonderful!" Song Li said happily.
Li Dong worriedly interjected, "Honey, I don't think your brother should go to that company. He’s a troublemaker."
"Li Dong, what do you mean by that? It sounds like you're saying my family are troublemakers, as if yours aren't," Song Li snapped, displeased.
Li Dong lowered his head and said nothing more. Song Li was right; his own relatives were also troublemakers, and if they stayed at the Baili Group, they would eventually hollow out the company.
Seeing that Song Li and her family had returned, Zheng Hehua felt it was no longer appropriate to stay, so she stood up and took her leave.
Song Li continued, "Qingying, have you heard the big news that happened in Qingshan City today?"
"What big news?" Li Qingying asked.
"It’s that the 'Immortal No. 1' at the Sheng Shen Ju estate was bought by someone. I heard they spent a hundred million!" Li Dong explained. "It’s all over the major media websites in Qingshan City now; everyone knows. The real estate developers are willing to spend money on publicity, too. Ever since this news broke, countless guests have gone to Sheng Shen Ju to look at houses."
"There's such a thing?" He Haoxuan asked, feeling puzzled.
Song Li nodded. "Yes, the news said that the person who bought Immortal No. 1 is an extremely noble and wealthy individual. As long as he stays at Sheng Shen Ju, nothing will go wrong there. All those other wealthy people want to latch onto him, so they’ve been flocking there."
He Haoxuan couldn't help but laugh; he hadn't expected Fang Yongsheng and his team to be so good at business, selling so many properties all at once. The biggest fear in real estate was hoarding houses; if capital didn't flow, they wouldn't last long.
Beside him, Li Qingying was getting nervous. Why did He Haoxuan have to fake a property deed for something else? Now he’d gone and used "Immortal No. 1." This was terrible—how was she supposed to produce that?
"Mom, this might be fake—a gimmick intentionally created by the developers," Li Qingying said deliberately.
"Not necessarily. After all, it's on the news. If they played such a fake game, they would only be shooting themselves in the foot," Li Dong analyzed.
"Exactly. That's a game for the wealthy, not something we can fathom." Song Li suddenly glanced at He Haoxuan. "Haoxuan, when are you going to buy us a villa?"
He Haoxuan smiled. "That's no problem. Haven't I already—"
Just as He Haoxuan started to say he had already bought one, Li Qingying hurriedly cut him off. "Mom, Dad, don't be in such a rush. We'll talk about it later. Even if he has money, he can't just spend it like that."
"It's really nothing," He Haoxuan explained. He had already bought the villa; why wouldn't Li Qingying let him say it? Just as he was wondering, he felt a sharp pinch on his waist. "Ouch!" he yelped.
"Haoxuan, what's wrong?" Song Li asked with concern.
"Mom, I... I'm fine. I think a mosquito bit me." He Haoxuan didn't dare tell Song Li that Li Qingying had pinched him; otherwise, he might be kicked out of the bedroom tonight.
Song Li was puzzled. "A mosquito? That's impossible; I don't think we have mosquitoes in this villa."
"Mom, you must be tired. Go back to sleep," Li Qingying reminded Song Li. "And He Haoxuan, you are not coming into my room tonight. Go sleep in the guest room on the second floor." She was angry at He Haoxuan for bragging at every turn, which made her feel like she wouldn't know how to cover for him in the future.
"Ah!" He Haoxuan cried out. "Honey, you can't do this."
Song Li nodded in agreement. "That's right, Qingying. You two are a married couple; don't hold such grudges. As the saying goes, a husband and wife's quarrel at the head of the bed is resolved by the foot of the bed. Go back and get some rest. Try to have a chubby baby by next year, and I'll help you look after it."
He Haoxuan's heart stirred, and he smiled. "Mom, if we have a chubby baby by then, I'll buy a villa for you to stay in while you help me with the baby."
"Wonderful! Haoxuan, it's a deal!" Song Li exclaimed excitedly.
Li Qingying rolled her eyes at He Haoxuan again. This man's most annoying trait was his love for bragging, as if he would die if he didn't. Did he even have the money to buy a villa? Wait, this must be He Haoxuan being clever. Li Qingying suddenly understood his intention: he was saying this to her mother on purpose, knowing her mother would then urge her to have a child. Once the deed was done and they had a child, what could her mother do to He Haoxuan then?
*He's wicked, he's too wicked,* Li Qingying cursed in her heart, her face flushing red.
He Haoxuan put on a fawning expression and said to Li Qingying, "Honey, let's head upstairs."
"Hmph, you bad man," Li Qingying said, walking toward the stairs.
Song Li smiled at He Haoxuan. "Haoxuan, my daughter is just cold on the outside and warm on the inside sometimes. Just coax her a little, and you'll be fine."
"Mom, I understand." He Haoxuan was surprised by how much Song Li’s attitude toward him had changed. It seemed he still needed to emphasize how wealthy he was. "Mom, don't worry. I am a wealthy man," he added.
"I know, I know. Haoxuan, just remember to buy us that villa so I can show off when I visit my family," Song Li instructed.
He Haoxuan dismissed it casually. "That's no problem—"
Just as he was about to go on and on, Li Qingying's angry voice drifted down from upstairs: "Why aren't you coming up yet?"
"Coming! I'm coming right now!" He Haoxuan didn't say another word to Song Li and scurried up the stairs.
Once they reached the third floor, Li Qingying scolded him, "Can you stop bragging in front of my mom? You have no idea how we're going to clean up this mess later!"
