Chapter 129: Breathtaking
He Haoxuan figured that the Li family must have been the ones who purchased these concert tickets, and he had managed to secure two for his friend. This kind of brotherhood was truly rare.
"Come over here then—" He Haoxuan gave Cao Dawei the Li family’s address. This way, he wouldn't have to run around; he could simply hand over the tickets and return to spending time with his wife.
"Alright, see you in a bit. I’ll take a cab over," Cao Dawei said happily.
He Haoxuan drove into the residential complex, then decided it would be better to park his car nearby rather than right in front of the Li house. He didn't want Song Li to see it and start acting up again.
After parking, he had just reached the entrance of the Li residence when his phone rang. It was Cao Dawei: "Haoxuan, are you back yet? I’m already at the entrance of your complex."
"I just got back. Come right over; I’ll wait for you at the gate," He Haoxuan replied.
"Got it, wait for me," Cao Dawei said, hanging up.
Li Qingying had heard that He Haoxuan was coming home, so instead of going upstairs, she had stayed on the ground floor waiting for him. The memory of the two of them working together in the kitchen was something she found herself nostalgic for. She had even canceled a business dinner scheduled for that evening, sending a vice president in her stead.
Hearing He Haoxuan’s voice outside, her heart fluttered. She deliberately reclined on the sofa, waiting for him to walk in. However, after waiting for quite a while, he still hadn't entered. Curious, Li Qingying stood up and walked outside, seeing He Haoxuan standing by the door.
"Why aren't you coming in? Mom isn't home, and she isn't chasing you away anymore," she said, casting a glance at him. Ever since she had revealed that He Haoxuan was a wealthy man, Song Li’s attitude toward him had undergone a 180-degree turn; she treated him as if he were her own son, practically wanting to coddle him in the palm of her hand.
"A good friend of mine is coming over to pick up some concert tickets, so I’m waiting for him," He Haoxuan said sheepishly. "Wait for me a little longer, I’ll start cooking soon."
"Your friend is coming?" Li Qingying panicked slightly. "Why didn't you say so earlier? I could have dressed up!"
When she had returned home, she hadn't paid much attention to her appearance, and her clothes were a bit disheveled. Now that she knew his friend was coming, she felt the need to tidy herself up. She immediately hurried back inside.
*What else is there to dress up for? You already have the kind of look that drives men crazy,* He Haoxuan thought to himself.
Before long, a semi-new domestic sedan drove up and pulled over next to him. Cao Dawei stepped out from the driver's seat. "Haoxuan!"
The passenger door opened as well, and a young woman stepped out. She was quite pretty. "Dawei, is this your friend's house? It looks pretty wealthy," she remarked to Cao Dawei.
Cao Dawei smiled but didn't respond. This wasn't really He Haoxuan's home; it was the Li family's house, where he lived as an in-law. Still, Cao Dawei wasn't about to expose him. Instead, he smiled at his girlfriend, Zheng Hehua, and said, "Hehua, this is my friend He Haoxuan’s home. Haoxuan, come here, let me introduce you—this is my girlfriend, Zheng Hehua."
Hearing that this attractive girl was Cao Dawei's girlfriend, He Haoxuan smiled. "Dawei, you're doing well for yourself, landing such a beautiful girl! What’s the matter? Too afraid to bring her out for the rest of us to see?"
Zheng Hehua was pleased by the compliment and felt that He Haoxuan was a charming talker. "Mr. He, you are too kind."
"Haoxuan, we're like family, so let's skip the formalities. Where are those Lu Ran concert tickets? Hand them over," Cao Dawei said happily.
He Haoxuan took out the last two tickets and handed them to him. Cao Dawei took one look and was stunned: "Wait, these are VIP tickets?"
"You're kidding, right?" Zheng Hehua was secretly shocked as well. Regular tickets for Lu Ran’s concert were already being scalped for over a thousand dollars. These two VIP tickets were likely worth nearly ten thousand now. Seeing that they were indeed for the VIP section, she couldn't help but feel a surge of secret excitement. This was great; with these tickets, she could show off on her social media.
Cao Dawei looked at He Haoxuan, feeling conflicted: "Haoxuan, how can I accept such expensive tickets? I don't have enough money to pay you back. Two tickets like this must cost over ten thousand, right?"
He Haoxuan waved his hand, laughing. "Dawei, do we really need to talk about that between brothers? These are a gift. When you’re free, I’ll treat you to a meal."
"You're giving them to us?" Cao Dawei asked, astonished. He knew He Haoxuan wasn't exactly wealthy as a live-in son-in-law. Even setting aside the effort of queuing, the cost of these tickets would take He Haoxuan a long time to save up.
"I have the money. Consider it a gift; these two tickets are a small matter to me," He Haoxuan said dismissively.
Cao Dawei was about to protest, but Zheng Hehua tugged at his sleeve. "Dawei, don't insist. Mr. He lives in a villa like this; he’s hardly a poor man. Just accept the gift; it’ll save you some money."
Cao Dawei gave a bitter internal smile. He figured He Haoxuan was just trying to save face, but he didn't want to humiliate him by pointing it out. "Alright then, Haoxuan, I’ll treat you to a meal when I’m free. We’ll be going now." He cast a nervous glance toward the house, worried that the Li family might come out and embarrass his friend.
Just as Cao Dawei was about to leave, Li Qingying stepped out. "Haoxuan, your friends are here—why haven't you invited them in?"
"Oh?" Zheng Hehua looked at Li Qingying, and in an instant, she felt her confidence vanish. Li Qingying was stunningly beautiful. Having gone upstairs to change into a graceful outfit and applying light makeup, she looked breathtaking. Zheng Hehua felt a sense of inadequacy and lowered her head, not daring to look at her.
Cao Dawei whispered to He Haoxuan, "Is that the one from your house?"
"That's right, that's my wife, Li Qingying," He Haoxuan announced proudly.
Cao Dawei nodded to himself. It was no wonder He Haoxuan ended up as a live-in son-in-law. If he were faced with a beauty of Li Qingying’s caliber, he would have considered it too.
"Haoxuan, aren't you going to introduce me?" Li Qingying was quite satisfied with her entrance; she had clearly intimidated He Haoxuan’s friends.
He Haoxuan introduced them: "This is my friend Cao Dawei, and this is his girlfriend, Zheng Hehua."
"Nice to meet you both. Please, come inside and have a seat," Li Qingying said with elegant hospitality.
Cao Dawei initially didn't want to go in as a guest, but seeing Zheng Hehua tugging him along, he had no choice but to follow. *Sigh,* he thought, *who told me I wanted to pursue her?* As it stood, Zheng Hehua had only agreed to be his girlfriend, and it was a tenuous arrangement at best. He had to be careful not to lose such a wonderful girl.
