Chapter 121: Yifang Company
He Haoxuan broke into a cold sweat, feeling as if he were about to faint. This Song Li was truly bizarre; how could he say such things in front of everyone? Besides, what did he mean by "not being able to perform"? He was perfectly capable.
"Alright, you should head back now," He Haoxuan said, waving his hand to dismiss Song Li.
"Haoxuan, I'm leaving just like that?" Song Li asked anxiously. "What about my money?"
"Don't worry," He Haoxuan replied dismissively. "Once you get home, someone will contact you."
It was only ten million; was it really worth making such a scene? Furthermore, Song Li reeked. The combination of body odor and heavy cologne made him feel like he wouldn't be able to eat anything for the rest of the morning. Song Li happily wiggled his obese frame into his car and drove off.
Seeing Song Li leave, Song Li (his sister) finally breathed a sigh of relief. If he had continued to make a scene, she would have been at a complete loss. As the eldest brother, he was like a father figure, and at times, Song Li still felt a bit intimidated by him.
She looked at He Haoxuan with newfound appreciation. "Haoxuan, you were good. Much better than Li Dong. You acted like a man."
"Mom, this is all your fault! Why did you promise Uncle anything in the first place? Now look at this mess, what are we going to do?" Li Qingying said, clearly worried. She assumed He Haoxuan had merely used a stall tactic to get rid of Song Li and would figure out how to handle the situation later.
"Sigh, your uncle is greedy, thinking we're wealthy and demanding ten million. How could that be possible?" Song Li frowned. "Haoxuan, what do you think we should do now?" Seeing a spark of confidence in He Haoxuan she hadn't noticed before, she began to take him more seriously.
Afraid that He Haoxuan would say something reckless, Li Qingying quickly interjected, "Mom, what else can we do? You should explain it to Uncle slowly. Don't let him think our family is a fat sheep he can just shear whenever he wants."
"Sigh, Qingying, I had too much to drink yesterday and spoke too quickly. My head is aching now," Song Li said, pressing her temples in distress. If she had known it would come to this, she wouldn't have drunk so much. With ten million, she could have bought another villa and enjoyed a life of her own. The villa they were living in currently belonged to the Li family; they didn't even hold the title to it.
He Haoxuan smiled and said, "It's fine. I'll just lend him the ten million."
*Keep bragging, just keep bragging,* Li Qingying thought, glaring at him. *Uncle isn't even here anymore, is there really a need to keep up this act?* But then again, her mother was still there, so He Haoxuan had to continue his charade. Otherwise, if her mother realized he had no money, she might chase him out with a broom right then and there.
"Haoxuan, you don't know the character of our relatives. They are like Liu Bei borrowing Jingzhou—they borrow but never return. That's ten million, not ten thousand!" Song Li said, her heart aching more with every word. As for letting Song Li be the vice president of the Baili Group, that was completely out of the question.
He Haoxuan thought for a moment and suggested, "How about this? I know the boss of a certain company. Let's see if he's willing to let your brother be a vice president."
"Really?" Song Li's eyes lit up.
"Of course it's real," He Haoxuan said nonchalantly. It was just a vice president position at a company. He could just ask Fang Yongsheng which companies were available and simply buy one out.
"That's great! Haoxuan, ask him if I can be a vice president too," Song Li asked. In the face of profit, any brotherly loyalty was forgotten.
Li Dong also ran out, shouting, "Haoxuan, I want to be a vice president too!"
Li Qingying broke into a cold sweat. What was wrong with her family? Did they think being a vice president was like selling cabbage at the market, something you could just do whenever you pleased?
"Sure, that's easy to arrange. Can I go back to sleep now?" He Haoxuan chuckled. Song Li had really disturbed his rest; he hadn't slept nearly enough.
"Yes, of course! Haoxuan, you and Qingying go back to sleep," Song Li said happily.
He Haoxuan ran excitedly back to Li Qingying’s room, hoping to sleep beside her. However, after waiting for a long time, he didn't see her come up. He called her, only to find out she had already gone for a run.
"Wife, come back and sleep with me," He Haoxuan said with a bitter face.
"Keep dreaming," Li Qingying replied with a playful, coy laugh. "You told so many lies today; let's see how you handle them later! Also, you're coming to work at our company today. We'll go together."
"Fine," He Haoxuan sighed, nodding in resignation at the prospect of going to work. He then called Fang Yongsheng to discuss the matter of starting a company.
"Mr. He, I have a cousin named Fang Chen who used to run a small company called Yifang. It's not large, with assets of only about ten million," Fang Yongsheng explained. "He's short on cash and doesn't want the company anymore. Since your in-laws just want to play around, why not let them go there and be vice presidents?"
Even if He Haoxuan were wealthy, he couldn't let just anyone mess with his own business. Fang Yongsheng figured he would provide a half-dead company for Song Li and the others to play with.
"Yifang Company, is it? Fine. Have your cousin Fang Chen come find me," He Haoxuan thought this was perfect. If they liked to meddle, he would let them meddle there.
"The property transfer papers are already prepared. I'll have Fang Chen bring them to you," Fang Yongsheng said.
He Haoxuan drove Song Li to the company. As they entered the general manager's office, Mo Xiufang walked in with some files. "Manager Li, these are the documents for you to sign. I'll leave them on the desk," she said softly.
Li Qingying nodded. "Xiufang, take him to the business department to start work."
"Understood," Mo Xiufang replied reluctantly. "However, Manager Li, to ensure the other colleagues can work effectively, I think we should keep his identity a secret."
"That's no problem; it's the right thing to do," Li Qingying agreed. If people knew He Haoxuan was her husband, they would treat him differently and put him on a pedestal, which was exactly what she didn't want. She wanted her husband to do real work and show some capability so they could have a long-term life together.
"Very well. Mr. He, please come with me," Mo Xiufang said with a sly look on her face. As long as He Haoxuan didn't receive special treatment, he wouldn't last in the business department. She had already instructed the department head to assign him the heaviest and most difficult workload. If he couldn't handle it and quit, it would have nothing to do with her.
Once they were outside, Mo Xiufang said, "He Haoxuan, I have other things to attend to. You can go find Department Head Liu Xiaoyan to report for duty." With that, she turned and headed back to her office.
He Haoxuan scratched his head. Mo Xiufang was really something—she didn't even tell him where the business department was.
