Chapter 120: Early Morning
“Hey.” At some unknown moment, Li Qingying called softly, “Are you asleep?”
“I am.” He Haoxuan replied.
“Naughty, don’t mess around. I’m serious,” Li Qingying whispered. “You need to hurry and get that fake property certificate done, and it’s best if it’s for a property that won’t be completed for several years.”
He Haoxuan was puzzled. “Why does it have to take several years to complete? Isn’t it better if it’s ready to move in now?”
“You don’t understand. Just trust me on this,” Li Qingying felt He Haoxuan was a bit slow.
If he got a fake property certificate for a place that’s ready to move into, and his mother decided to live there in a few days, how could they keep up the lie?
Only by getting one for a property that wouldn’t be completed for years could they delay his mother’s move-in. That way, they could stall for several more years.
Who would remember the details years from now?
“Oh.” He Haoxuan wanted to hear more but couldn’t, since he had already told Fang Yongsheng to handle it. The certificate should be ready in a couple of days.
Well, if Li Qingying didn’t like it, he could find another property with a longer completion time later.
If nothing else worked, he could even make one himself. As long as his wife was happy, he had no objections.
Li Qingying saw that He Haoxuan had heard her and then covered himself up to rest.
Soon, Li Qingying fell asleep, and He Haoxuan closed his eyes and drifted off too.
Early the next morning, the sound of car horns downstairs woke them all up.
“What time is it? Who’s making a fuss down there?” He Haoxuan wondered, glancing at the clock—it was only seven.
“Li Mei, are you all up? I bought breakfast for you. Hurry and open the door!” came the loud voice of Song Li from downstairs.
Li Qingying cried out in surprise, “Is that the voice of my Uncle Song Li?”
“Why is he here so early?” He Haoxuan was curious.
“Maybe something happened,” Li Qingying guessed. She immediately got up, kicked He Haoxuan out, and went to change.
He Haoxuan, irritated, went downstairs and opened the front door.
“Oh, Haoxuan, you’re opening the door for me yourself? I’m truly honored,” Song Li was overjoyed upon seeing He Haoxuan.
He Haoxuan scowled and asked, “Uncle, why are you making such a ruckus so early? Did someone die in the family?”
“No, not at all. I just thought I’d show some face for you guys by coming early so you won’t be late for work later,” Song Li laughed.
Only then did He Haoxuan notice that Song Li was dressed in a suit and tie, his hair slicked back with gel, looking vigorous despite his age.
Song Li’s family members came over too. “Li Ge, what job are you going to?” they asked.
“Working at your Baili Group, of course. You promised me yesterday. I didn’t want to come at first, but since you invited me, I couldn’t refuse. I’ll come with great reluctance,” Song Li said excitedly.
“What? You’re going to work at Baili Group now?” Song Li’s sister, Song Li, exclaimed in surprise.
Song Li nodded heavily. “Yes, since Baili Group will belong to Qingying in the future, as her uncle, I have to come help keep an eye on things, so no riffraff causes trouble. Also, since it’s early, my son and the others haven’t gotten up yet. After they have lunch, they’ll come to work at Baili Group this afternoon too.”
Li Dong felt dizzy. What was going on?
Having one Song Li come over was troublesome enough, but now a whole bunch of Song family members were showing up, coming and going as they pleased? This wasn’t how things worked.
Unable to bear it, Li Dong angrily said, “Baili Group isn’t a place you can just join whenever you want. Unless you want a low-level position, we might try to find something for you. But any managerial or higher position isn’t something we can just assign.”
“No way, Li Mei, can’t you arrange something?” Song Li asked.
Song Li shook her head. “I…I don’t think I can.”
“Well then, Qingying, as General Manager, can’t you make me Vice General Manager?” Song Li asked. “I already told people in the Song family that if I don’t get that position, I’ll be mocked when I go back.”
“Maybe I could ask for a lower salary, say a million a year?” Song Li was still dreaming big.
Li Qingying shook her head. “Uncle, even though I’m the General Manager, I have no authority over personnel matters. I can’t help you.”
“No way, Song Li, were you joking with me yesterday?” Song Li angrily said.
Seeing her brother angry, Song Li quickly tried to soothe him. “Don’t be mad, brother. We’ll think of something.”
She still cared about face, especially since Song Li was an important figure in her maternal family. If she offended him, she wouldn’t have an easy life there anymore.
“Alright then, how about this—you give me ten million to start a business, and I’ll be a small boss,” Song Li said.
“What? Ten million?” Li Dong’s eyes widened.
“Li Dong, I’m talking to my sister. Why are you butting in?” Song Li looked down on Li Dong.
In this family, Song Li was the real head.
“Yeah, Li Dong, what are you saying?” Song Li also glared at Li Dong.
“I don’t care anymore,” Li Dong grumbled and went inside.
Li Qingying felt helpless with them. Just as she was about to leave, Song Li grabbed her. “Qingying, what should we do?”
“Mom, be realistic. What else can we do? If Uncle only needed a hundred thousand, maybe we could find a way. But ten million? I don’t have that kind of money,” Li Qingying spread her hands helplessly.
Song Li smiled, “You don’t, but Haoxuan does.”
“He—” Li Qingying was stunned.
“Yes, didn’t you say he’s rich? Let him lend Uncle ten million,” Song Li suggested.
Song Li chimed in, “I’m borrowing ten million from you, not asking you to give it for free. I’ll pay you back when I have the money.”
Hehe, if I don’t, then I won’t. Song Li chuckled slyly in his heart.
Song Li turned to He Haoxuan. “Haoxuan, will you lend Uncle ten million to start a business?”
He Haoxuan wanted to keep sleeping in Li Qingying’s room every night, so without hesitation, he nodded, “Sure, no problem.”
“Haoxuan, you’re so kind!” Song Li excitedly rushed over and hugged him tightly.
He Haoxuan smelled the stench of body odor and felt like vomiting. “Uncle, let go of me, I’m about to pass out.”
Damn, he wondered if Song Li hadn’t bathed in years or if he just smelled horrendous. No matter how much cologne he sprayed, it couldn’t cover the stench.
“Haoxuan, are you not feeling well?” Song Li looked sympathetic. “Me too. My health is never good, even medicine can’t restore a man’s vigor.”
