Chapter 100: It Seems He Is No Longer Foolish
Suddenly, Li Qingying asked He Haoxuan, "Didn't you say you bought me tickets for Lu Ran's concert? Give them to me."
"Ah." He Haoxuan paused for a moment. "I forgot to bring them over, but you don't need to take the tickets anyway; I'll take you there when the time comes."
"That's fine then." Li Qingying ignored him and went back to her work.
Seeing this, He Haoxuan had no choice but to leave the office and head downstairs, intending to hail a taxi. Just then, Li Dasong pulled up in his BMW X5. "Yo, He Haoxuan, out of money to rent a luxury car today? Why are you taking a taxi?"
He Haoxuan shot him a cold look. "That’s none of your business."
"Heh, are you broke? If you are, I can spare you fifty yuan." With that, Li Dasong actually pulled out a hundred-yuan note and deliberately dangled it out the window to humiliate him.
But as soon as Li Dasong held it out, He Haoxuan lunged forward and snatched the bill from his hand.
"What the hell? You actually took my money!" Li Dasong shouted in shock. He hadn't expected He Haoxuan to be so shameless as to actually take his hundred yuan. It was truly disgraceful.
"He Haoxuan, I was just joking! Give that back!" Li Dasong yelled angrily.
But no matter how much he shouted, He Haoxuan had already reached the roadside and hopped into a taxi that had just pulled up. By the time Li Dasong jumped out of his car to chase him, the taxi had already driven off with He Haoxuan inside.
When they arrived at the entrance of Qingshan University, the driver stopped and said, "Sir, that’s fifty yuan."
He Haoxuan took the hundred-yuan note Li Dasong had given him and handed it to the driver. "Keep the change."
"Oh, thank you, boss!" The driver was overjoyed. He had assumed He Haoxuan was just an ordinary person based on his plain clothing, but he never expected such generosity—a one-hundred percent tip.
As He Haoxuan entered the campus, his phone rang. It was Fang Yongsheng. "Mr. He, where are you? I’ll have the tickets delivered to you."
"I’m at Qingshan University getting ready to play basketball. How about you have someone drop them off here later?" He Haoxuan thought for a moment.
"I’ll deliver them personally!" Fang Yongsheng immediately exclaimed. He would never miss an opportunity to get closer to He Haoxuan.
After hanging up, Fang Yongsheng immediately told his subordinates, "Quick, find me a top-tier basketball coach. I want to learn how to play."
He Haoxuan hadn't walked far when his phone rang again. This time it was Li Qingwan. "He Haoxuan, where the hell are you? Why aren't you here yet? The basketball game is about to start, and our class's sports representative is already complaining to me!"
"I'm almost there, I'm already on campus," He Haoxuan replied.
"Then hurry up!" She hung up.
He Haoxuan put his phone away, only to realize he hadn't asked where the game was being held. He tried calling Li Qingwan back, but found that she wasn't picking up.
"Hey, classmate." He Haoxuan spotted a chubby girl walking by and called out to her.
"Handsome, are you looking for me? Do you want to treat me to dinner?" The girl ran over excitedly.
"Get lost." He Haoxuan snapped in frustration. She could insult his character, but not his intelligence. Asking such an ugly, overweight girl to dinner was a total insult to his dignity.
The girl stomped off angrily, and since his plan to ask for directions failed, He Haoxuan had to keep searching on his own.
A long while later, his phone rang again. It was Li Qingwan. "He Haoxuan, didn't you say you were on campus? Why aren't you here yet?"
"I don't even know where you're playing, and you didn't answer when I called," He Haoxuan retorted.
"At Sports Field No. 3, hurry up and get here!" she shouted. "I'm sending you the location on WeChat."
Following the navigation, He Haoxuan arrived at the field. Several students noticed him and began whispering and pointing.
Seeing him arrive, Li Qingwan ran over angrily. "Why didn't you drive your BMW X7 here?"
"I—" Before he could answer, Xiao Juan and the others ran over as well.
"Brother Xuan, why did you walk here? Where's your luxury car?" Xiao Juan asked curiously.
Li Qingwan immediately winked at He Haoxuan and said, "He sent his BMW X7 in for maintenance, so he didn't drive it." *Hmph, he definitely couldn't afford to rent it anymore and had to return it to the rental company.*
"What a shame," Xiao Juan said. "We were hoping to ride in your car to dinner tonight."
"By the way, Brother Xuan," another female student asked, "Qingwan says you're very influential. Can you use your connections to get her some VIP tickets for Lu Ran’s concert?"
He Haoxuan turned to look at Li Qingwan. This brainless girl was bragging about this to others again?
Sure enough, Li Qingwan winked at him sheepishly. "He Haoxuan, you're capable and know so many people. Can't you just make a quick call and get a few more tickets?"
"I suppose so." He Haoxuan rubbed his nose helplessly. He wondered if Li Qingying was actually dim-witted—she seemed to know he could get VIP tickets with a single call, yet she kept blabbing about it to everyone else. Didn't she realize that even "easily obtained" tickets were worth a lot of money on the market?
"Brother Xuan, can you help us buy tickets? We’ll pay you for them!" Fearing he might refuse, Xiao Juan rushed over, grabbed his arm, and shook it vigorously. To show how desperate she was, she deliberately pressed herself against him, which made him feel very "uncomfortable."
"Fine, Xiao Juan, let go of me. I'll get the tickets for you, okay?" He Haoxuan said in agony. What kind of world was this? Could these young girls not just talk to people from a reasonable distance?
"Brother Xuan, you're the best! When you're free, I'll treat you to dinner." Xiao Juan stared at him intently, her gaze lingering in a way that felt different.
He Haoxuan waved his hand. "No need for that. And you two, you don't have to crowd me either. I promise I'll get them for you." *Sigh, I really am a man who finds it too easy to be soft-hearted.*
After Xiao Juan and the others skipped away happily, Li Qingwan leaned in close and whispered, "Since you're used to the grind from your days as a construction worker, just go stand in line a few more times—you'll get the tickets."
He Haoxuan didn't want to engage with her on that topic. "Hey, didn't you say we were playing basketball? Is it my turn to go on? I'm actually quite good."
"Wait, He Haoxuan, didn't you say at lunch that you didn't know how to play basketball?" Li Qingwan asked, puzzled.
"Lunch is lunch, now is now. How could they be the same? It's just like how you might eat a certain dish for lunch but not for dinner," He Haoxuan replied, rolling his eyes at her.
