Chapter 141: Is It My Turn?
"Rabbi!" Jian Zhengjin stepped out of the prison and immediately grabbed a pen and paper to write a letter.
"Lord Gen, what are your orders?" Rabbi approached him and asked respectfully.
"I need you to go on a long journey. Can you do it?" Jian Zhengjin stood up and looked at him.
Rabbi nodded without hesitation. "Just give the command, Lord Gen!"
"Good!" Jian Zhengjin handed the letter to Rabbi. "Take a squad of town guards and leave at once. Deliver this letter to the Lord of Sea Dragon City in the Hails Principality!"
"Understood!" Rabbi immediately tucked the letter into his tunic, turned, and headed toward the camp to assemble the men and fetch the horses.
Once Rabbi and his squad had departed the Forest of Monsters, Jian Zhengjin immediately returned to supervise the construction of the outer city walls.
After the sun set, the Forest of Monsters became most active. It was the period when all wild beasts and even magical creatures were at their most restless. Although the wall was less than a quarter finished, Jian Zhengjin decisively ordered the craftsmen to stop working, and everyone quickly retreated back into the city.
"Trafficking elves? My god!" After returning home, Jian Zhengjin shared the information he had obtained from the interrogation in the prison with Tina. Her expression immediately turned to one of shock and disbelief. "What about those elves?"
"They are likely already in the hands of the royalty and nobility of the Xiongfeng Empire," Jian Zhengjin said.
"This—this is simply outrageous!" Tina clenched her fists, filled with indignation. "Every nation has signed an agreement that strictly prohibits any trafficking of elves, humans, or members of the orc race!"
"Agreements are only made to be broken," Jian Zhengjin said, having lived through two lifetimes and seen through such things long ago.
"Gen, can you save those poor elven girls?" Tina grabbed his hand. "They are so pathetic!"
"With what should I save them?" Jian Zhengjin turned to look at Tina. "Although I also find it unacceptable, there is nothing I can do! Besides, this kind of thing happens everywhere; I cannot save them all! The only thing I can do now is to work hard on developing our city's defenses and protect the people around me first. The City of Light, or even the Xiongfeng Empire, could launch another attack on us at any time. My primary mission is to protect everything around me, especially you!"
"I'm sorry, Gen!" Tina lowered her head, feeling a bit sad. "I was being willful again."
"It's okay!" Jian Zhengjin gently stroked her golden hair. "My Tina is just too kind."
"Then do you dislike me for being like this?" Tina looked up and asked.
"Not at all."
"Gen~~" Tina excitedly opened her arms and hugged him tightly. "Thank you!"
"What are you thanking me for, you little dummy?" Jian Zhengjin swept her up into his arms and carried her straight into the bedroom. "We are husband and wife, after all!"
"Mmm! I am so happy to be married to you!" Tina happily wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Then let's do something even happier!"
"Eek~~ No! We haven't closed the door yet~~"
Once again, a passionate night unfolded.
In the middle of the night, Jian Zhengjin woke up. He turned his head to kiss the sleeping Tina lightly before getting up and heading to the restroom.
After relieving himself, he washed his hands and prepared to return to the room.
Just as he reached the doorway, he saw Perlin standing outside, looking at him expressionlessly. "What is it? You didn't make a sound; you gave me a fright! You haven't slept yet?"
"The noise was too loud. I couldn't sleep," Perlin replied, looking at him indifferently.
"Uh~~" Jian Zhengjin blushed, knowing exactly what noise she was referring to. He coughed awkwardly. "It's over now, you can go to sleep!"
"No," Perlin said, walking over. She took his hand with a blank expression and led him to her room. "It's my turn now."
"Uh~~" This was the first time Perlin had been so proactive, which was quite a surprise.
Although her face was almost devoid of expression, which always made Jian Zhengjin feel a bit strange, she was a beauty, after all, and his own woman as well. He did not refuse, instead simply letting Perlin undress him before getting into her bed...
The next morning, Jian Zhengjin woke up from his sleep.
Perlin was long gone from the pillow beside him; she was likely already dressed and training at the camp. Her level of diligence was unmatched, which was the only reason she possessed such formidable combat prowess.
"Morning, Gen!" Just as he emerged from the bedroom, he saw Tina preparing breakfast.
She made no mention of the fact that Jian Zhengjin had gone to Perlin's room in the middle of the night; instead, she was all smiles.
"Morning!" Jian Zhengjin walked over, hugged her from behind, and kissed her cheek tenderly. "Is Perlin at the camp?"
"Mmm! She'll be back soon." Tina turned around with a smile and pecked him on the cheek as well. "Let's eat breakfast!"
"Mmm!" Jian Zhengjin enjoyed this sweet atmosphere and sat down at his place, picking up his chopsticks.
Tina brought all the food to the table, looked up, and called out to the floor above, "Christina, time to eat!"
"Thump, thump, thump..." A flustered young girl came flying down the stairs and quickly sat at the table.
Amazed by her speed, Jian Zhengjin blinked and gave her a thumbs-up.
"Here
