Chapter 30: Mother Lost Her Temper
“Drive!” The octagonal fragrant carriage sped toward the Yun family in a swirl of smoke.
The carriage moved swiftly, gusts of wind pouring inside. Yun Feiyue pressed her hand to her chest, a wave of restless heat rising within her, coloring her cheeks with a delicate blush.
Little Mumu tugged at the hem of Yun Feiyue’s garment. “Feiyue, what’s wrong?”
Yun Feiyue forced herself to shake her head, though the sensation grew stronger, heat surging through her body as if she were being boiled alive. Unconsciously, she reached up and loosened her collar, exposing her pale collarbone. Her throat quivered, her skin gradually flushed a soft red.
“Mother, what’s happening?” Little Mumu wrapped his hands around Yun Feiyue’s, his watery eyes gazing up at her.
Yun Feiyue gripped the seat cushion fiercely, a harsh scraping sound echoing, stabbing at their eardrums. Agitated—
“Out!” Only one word spilled from her lips.
“Mother, is your irritability acting up again?” Little Mumu reached into his pocket, pulling out a small green pill.
“Mo—” Before he could finish, Yun Feiyue suddenly leapt out of the carriage.
“Mother!” Little Mumu cried.
Restless… stifling… These were Yun Feiyue’s last sensations; everything she saw seemed tiresome. This feeling—so unbearable.
She ran wildly into the night, like a red lotus demon.
“What’s happening?!” Yun Hai slammed on the brakes, his fine steed neighing sharply, stopping in place. Yun Hai stared in a daze at the departing figure.
“What’s happening?” Before he could react, Little Mumu tumbled out of the carriage, “Uncle, hurry, help stop Feiyue. Mother’s running wild!”
As the figure in red fled, Mo Feiyuan also gave chase at incredible speed, the two disappearing into the night…
Little Mumu perched on Yun Hai’s shoulder, watching the distant vanishing silhouettes, sighing, “Whenever Mother’s body acts up and she unlocks her energy seal, she goes berserk. At the Zhan Yun Sect, there was Grandmaster, but now…” Little Mumu’s face was filled with worry, uncertain whether Iceberg Brother could catch his mother.
“Hold tight!” Yun Hai snapped the reins, pursuing the direction where they vanished.
Arriving, he saw Mo Feiyuan returning from afar, carrying Yun Feiyue in his arms. The dim light obscured his expression, but it was clear Yun Feiyue had lost consciousness.
Little Mumu rushed over, climbing Mo Feiyuan’s sleeve to leap onto Yun Feiyue’s stomach.
Damn! In her haze, Yun Feiyue only felt a sudden pain in her belly, wanting to slap that ball off her stomach, but she was utterly powerless.
Little Mumu, crying, gripped Yun Feiyue’s hand, confirming she was alive before turning to Mo Feiyuan. “Thank you, Iceberg Brother. Please put my mother down, don’t take advantage. My mother is very expensive—usually five hundred gold coins just to touch.”
“…”
“Didn’t you hear what Little Mumu said?” Little Mumu glared furiously at Mo Feiyuan.
I swear! Little Mumu! When your mother has strength again, I’ll beat you! My guts are about to spill out. Can you stop trying to make money off your dying mother? Have you truly inherited the Yun family’s legacy?
Mo Feiyuan lowered his head slightly, looking at the half-conscious, suffering Yun Feiyue, then at Little Mumu—apparently, both inherited from their mother.
“Your name is Little Mumu?” Mo Feiyuan raised an eyebrow.
“Yes!” Little Mumu replied offhandedly.
Half-conscious, Yun Feiyue cursed inwardly: You idiots, can’t you see how miserable I am, and you’re chatting!
Yun Hai rushed over and snatched Yun Feiyue from Mo Feiyuan’s arms. “Thank you, Lord Shenyin. My nephew is right—five hundred gold.”
“…”
Mo Feiyuan now understood: this truly is hereditary! But it skips a generation.
He cleared his throat, steadying himself. “Ahem, I’ve just suppressed her chaotic energy. It’s likely her meridians are blocked; sudden energy release can cause some backlash.”
Little Mumu paid no mind to Mo Feiyuan, instead rummaging through his bag for a pill, placing it into Yun Feiyue’s mouth. Once Mother had the pill, she’d be fine—Master crafted it, and its effects were extraordinary.
Mo Feiyuan had never been so thoroughly ignored; he could almost see a flock of crows flying past. He was powerless against this mother and son.
But that wasn’t the point. The point was, “Little Mumu, what did you give her to eat?”
Little Mumu patted his paws, proudly raising his chin. “Of course, it’s a special Fire Cloud Pill for calming tempers. Why, Iceberg Brother, do you want one too?”
Mo Feiyuan pressed his lips together, reaching out to check her pulse again, his eyes lowered. After a moment, he asked, “What ingredients does it contain?”
Ingredients! Little Mumu remembered clearly.
“Fire Cloud Grass, Sky’s Tears, Three-Leaf Book…” A string of names flowed from Little Mumu’s mouth.
Mo Feiyuan’s expression grew increasingly grave: Fire Cloud Grass and Sky’s Tears both clash with the properties of the Heart-Cleansing Pill; taking this would not only fail to help Yun Feiyue but might worsen her condition.
Without hesitation, he scooped Yun Feiyue up, jumped onto the carriage, and sped away.
So swift was he that Yun Hai had no time to react. Little Mumu, in the crucial moment, grabbed Mo Feiyuan’s sleeve like a little white ball, rolling onto his wrist.
The carriage vanished quickly. Yun Hai was left stupefied; after a long pause, he shouted, “This is bad! She’s been snatched! Lord Shenyin has taken her!”
