Chapter 111: The Legendary Three Immortal Islands, Where Sea Vessels Ride the Purple Aura to Arrive
The three islands appeared deceptively close, yet in reality, they were far apart. The authorities immediately received the news and dispatched various instruments to investigate. Ultimately, they discovered an inexplicable force on the islands that prevented any thorough exploration. To be cautious, helicopters and fighter jets were not sent to patrol the area, as it was suspected that living beings might inhabit the islands—but whether they were friend or foe remained unknown.
Naturally, the officials chose not to conceal this information but released it publicly. In this new era of anomalies, more strange occurrences might arise. This disclosure aimed to gradually acclimate and familiarize the populace. As soon as the news broke, it garnered immediate attention online, sparking heated discussions and widespread speculation about the origins of the three islands.
Eventually, someone posted a theory suggesting that these might very well be the legendary Three Immortal Islands. Ancient texts recorded that beyond the Bohai Sea lay immortal isles. During the Qin dynasty, Emperor Qin Shi Huang had sent the alchemist Xu Fu, along with three thousand boys and girls, overseas in search of the elixir of immortality. The most renowned among these islands were Penglai, Yingzhou, and Fangzhang.
According to legend, immortals dwelled on these islands. This idea only intensified the public’s curiosity, prompting many to rush over, eager to see if the islands were truly those fabled realms. The Bohai region quickly became a gathering point for numerous awakened beings, all pulling out their phones to record and capture videos.
However, some remained calm and rational, believing that the so-called immortals might simply be awakened individuals, and that the emergence of the immortal islands could either be a blessing or a curse. The authorities, fully aware of the gravity of the situation, deployed troops to maintain order and restricted sea travel, given that alliances or hostilities were still unclear.
Elder Ji, Elder Yun, and others convened multiple meetings and poured over extensive records. They ultimately concluded that the islands might indeed be the legendary Three Immortal Islands, though further information remained elusive. They wished to discuss the matter with Lu Yuan, but since he was in seclusion, the plan was postponed until his return. In the meantime, they resolved to closely monitor the trio of islands.
At the Mount Tai Trial Institute, Jiang Ningxian had also learned of the news and grew solemn. “Uncle Jiang, the reappearance of the Three Immortal Islands signifies that the power severing the world’s connection to the absolute realm is waning. The Great Era draws ever closer,” she said, gazing skyward as if observing something unseen.
Though she knew what lay within the islands, she remained indifferent; to her, the islands’ appearance was merely an omen.
“I have received news as well. The ancestors of the Star Clan have already set out and are halfway there,” Uncle Jiang, the elder, spoke on. “However, the first to reach the Milky Way Star Domain should be the Celestial Clan and others, followed by the Ji lineage. Additionally, great clans from the Eternal Star Domain, Blissful Star Domain, and so forth have also departed.”
He furrowed his brow as he mentioned several star domains—the Milky Way Star Domain being the location of this world.
“It appears that all the top hundred star domains have mobilized and are converging in one place,” Jiang Ningxian murmured.
“Just as Father said, this is an unprecedented Great Era in millions of years.”
Lowering her head, she spoke softly. She understood that though the star domains were vast distances apart, each possessed methods to traverse the cosmic expanse swiftly. Though it still took some time, it wouldn’t be long, especially as the power isolating this world from the absolute realm weakened.
“The Great Era...” she repeated the words thoughtfully. “Can our Jiang Clan truly carve out a brilliant path within it?”
“Who knows?” Jiang Ningxian raised a delicate brow. “We can only try our best. Until the very end, no one can predict the outcome.”
Uncle Jiang nodded but didn’t continue on that topic. Instead, he asked, “What about the Three Immortal Islands? Could those inhabitants interfere with our plans?”
The implication was clear: the Jiang Clan had already allied with the authorities. Any threat to the government was absolutely unacceptable. Thus, he pondered whether he should take action.
“They’re just a bunch of cowards,” Jiang Ningxian sneered. “With Lu Yuan around, they can’t stir up any trouble.”
Hearing this, Uncle Jiang was taken aback and could not help but ask, “Saintess, do you truly place such faith in Lu Yuan?”
He believed that even within the top hundred star domains, there were many prodigiously talented individuals.
Yet the Saintess seemed particularly fixated on Lu Yuan.
“Uncle Jiang, you don’t understand,” Jiang Ningxian smiled mysteriously. “From my observations, Lu Yuan is still only at the Shackles Realm, yet he can defeat those at the Golden Body Realm. What does that signify?”
Upon hearing this, Uncle Jiang pondered deeply.
What did it signify?
It meant Lu Yuan had broken through multiple genetic shackles and possessed terrifying combat power that transcended realms. Such a figure, even among all the star domains, held immense potential. When the time was right, he could ascend like a dragon. Moreover, this individual had grown up within this world.
Suddenly, Uncle Jiang was silent, contemplative.
Jiang Ningxian sat cross-legged and closed her eyes. With each breath, her entire being became enveloped in a radiant glow, her robes billowing as if preparing to ascend.
Meanwhile, in another room of the Mount Tai Trial Institute, Lu Yuan knelt cross-legged, his aura and blood energy surging more powerfully than before. A fierce heat radiated from his vitality, intertwined with swirling golden energy, rendering him as radiant as the sun.
The room itself grew stiflingly warm, as if a volcano had been sealed inside. Fortunately, he wore a primordial Qi garment; otherwise, ordinary clothing would have long since been destroyed.
Within him, the Blood Pagoda had vanished, and the Great Sun Flame God Furnace was no more. Yet, a deeper, more robust power was slowly birthing within.
Indeed, after many days of seclusion, he had thoroughly fused the two divine artifacts into his body. However, fully integrating them with his physique and vitality required more time. For Lu Yuan, success would not only mean a slight increase in strength but, more importantly, a transformation of his physical constitution—a metamorphosis that would deepen his foundation.
The Great Sun Flame God Furnace was far more formidable than he had anticipated; no wonder it was deemed a supreme treasure.
At this moment, Lu Yuan understood that refining his body demanded patience and steady progress. He could not rush but must perfect each step to advance further along the path of evolution.
Thus, his seclusion continued.
Along the Bohai coast lay a small town once inhabited in the old era. After the anomalies, most residents had relocated to the megacities, as this place was somewhat remote, and the ferocity of sea beasts rivaled that of land creatures.
Now, near the shoreline outside the town, a temporary military base had been established. Squads of soldiers, many awakened with extraordinary powers, patrolled incessantly.
As time passed and the government regained control, more awakened beings were trained. Some entered the Zhen Dan Academy, others were enlisted in the military, for it was clear that ordinary humans alone could no longer maintain order. The awakened soldier was gradually replacing the old-era military, though this transition required time.
Regardless, the government’s power grew stronger by the day.
At this moment, on the sandy beach by the sea stood several figures gazing into the distance. Leading them were the Northern Emperor, the Ice Fairy, and the Pure Yang Little Celestial Master. The others were elite students from the Zhen Dan Academy, though Zhu Qingyu and Monk Huikong were no longer present.
Far on the horizon, the sea’s surface steamed with violet energy, the sky ablaze with rosy light that tinted the clouds. Beneath this, three faint, ethereal islands appeared, seeming both fleeting and unreal.
“Senior Gu, do you think there truly are beings living on those three immortal islands?” the Ice Fairy asked, her tone curious yet solemn.
Senior Gu—the Northern Emperor—whose real name was Gu Sang, now rarely called by his imperial title. The Ice Fairy, emulating Zhu Qingyu, addressed him as senior.
“I don’t know,” Gu Sang replied. “But someone once captured images of cranes soaring above the islands. Even if no people dwell there, other living creatures must exist.” The Pure Yang Little Celestial Master nodded in agreement.
The three, gifted and powerful awakened individuals, had been dispatched by Elder Ji to survey the situation at the Three Immortal Islands and to act swiftly should emergencies arise.
Yet some time had passed, and the islands remained unresponsive. No orders had come from above to conduct sea patrols, so they could only watch from the shore.
“Senior Gu, Senior Ji, there’s something!” a student suddenly called out, pointing toward the distance.
Everyone’s hearts jolted as they peered intently and widened their eyes in shock. On the sea’s horizon, a massive ancient vessel was slowly emerging from the violet mist.
The ship was not modern but constructed entirely of wood—not ordinary timber, but something remarkably sturdy and durable. Numerous enormous sails caught the wind as it approached the shore.
“An ancient ship arriving on violet qi... Could it truly be immortals?” someone muttered, astonished.
“Immortals? If they were immortals, why would they ride a ship? Wouldn’t they fly here on their swords?” the Pure Yang Little Celestial Master shook his head. He knew that the so-called immortals of old were, in fact, modern awakened beings who had evolved to a certain level to gain the ability to fly. The people on that ship clearly had not reached such a stage, yet coming from the Three Immortal Islands was no small matter.
At once, the Ice Fairy ordered her comrades to report the situation to their superiors and instructed everyone to wait on site. The temporary garrison base also received the alert and rushed to support them.
Some soldiers readied their firearms; others brought armored vehicles. The three—Pure Yang Little Celestial Master, Ice Fairy, and Gu Sang—stood at the forefront. As the strongest, they held command over the troops and controlled whether to attack or hold fire.
All eyes locked onto the steadily approaching ship, fully prepared for any eventuality. No one knew if those aboard were friend or foe, or even if they were human.
As time passed, the ship drew closer, nearing the shore. Gu Sang, the Ice Fairy, and the Pure Yang Little Celestial Master stepped forward. “Halt! Identify yourselves before you may land,” they called out loudly. Their voices carried far, but the enormous vessel seemed deaf to the commands and pressed onward.
Frowning, the trio refrained from ordering an attack. Instead, a small patrol boat was dispatched to issue another warning.
Before the patrol boat could even reach the ship, a figure in purple robes appeared suddenly at the bow, raising a hand. At that moment, the calm sea beneath churned violently, waves surging and capsizing the patrol boat.
The colossal ship surged ahead, utterly heedless.
