Chapter Sixty-Six: A "Surprise" for Song Chengyi

"Next time you have some free time, come visit me. And let's stay in touch," Summer Luo hugged Butterfly He tightly, unwilling to let go.

"Alright, the next time I come, I'll bring a professional video camera. You two must be my models again," Butterfly He couldn't let go of the idea.

After taking photos of the two of them yesterday, it had been on her mind ever since.

"Of course, we'll pose for you as long as you come," Summer Luo replied with a smile.

"Well, we'll get going then," Su Sheng couldn't stand watching the two girls getting all sentimental. If they kept dragging things out, they'd miss their flight. He hurriedly grabbed Butterfly He's hand and prepared to leave.

"We're heading out now. I'll message you," Butterfly He waved as she climbed into the car.

Watching the two leave, Summer Luo felt lost, following Song Chengyi back to the guesthouse.

"We should start getting ready to head back to Tokyo, too," Song Chengyi said, seeing Summer Luo's spiritless demeanor.

"Alright."

They returned and packed up, not having brought much to begin with.

"Wait a moment, I'm messaging Butterfly He," Summer Luo said, her head down, typing on her phone.

Once their things were packed, Summer Luo looked at Song Chengyi with shining eyes.

"I... suddenly remembered I need to buy some gifts for my friends before we go back. I might need to go out for a bit."

Song Chengyi nodded, "Okay, I'll go with you."

To Song Chengyi's surprise, Summer Luo shook her head and refused outright, "No, no, you stay here. I should be back around two in the afternoon."

Song Chengyi frowned, "That long?"

"Uh... it's a bit far, but I'll hurry back," Summer Luo scratched her chin.

"It's pretty far. Are you sure you know the way? Let me come with you," Song Chengyi was still uneasy. After all, this girl was always so careless.

"I've got GPS. It's fine, I'll go and come right back." After Summer Luo reassured him repeatedly, Song Chengyi finally agreed.

When seeing her off, Song Chengyi asked twice more if she really didn't need him to come along.

Summer Luo patted her chest, promising him he could trust her.

Song Chengyi didn't think much more of it, though he was a little puzzled. Wasn't this girl always sticking to him wherever she went? Why was she acting differently today?

When Summer Luo got in the car, she patted her chest again, relieved Song Chengyi hadn't overthought it and let her go alone.

She was off to accomplish something big—how could she bring him along?

She was counting on this to secure her position. Just imagining bringing that back for Song Chengyi, and him being moved to tears and falling for her, filled Summer Luo with motivation.

After more than three hours on the road and switching to the subway, Summer Luo finally arrived at her destination.

Excitedly clutching her phone, she went inside.

When she emerged, she looked at the bag in her hand and smiled with delight.

By then, it was already one in the afternoon, but Summer Luo didn't feel the least bit hungry.

With motivation like hers, who could feel hunger?

Just then, her phone rang. Seeing Song Chengyi's name, Summer Luo broke into a wide grin.

"Hello? Song Chengyi," she called out, her voice brimming with excitement.

"Are you back yet? It's already one o'clock," Song Chengyi urged on the other end.

He was genuinely worried. In a foreign country, with her being just a young girl, he was starting to regret not insisting on accompanying her.

"I'm already on my way back, just got on the subway. The signal here is pretty bad, so I'll hang up now. I'll be back soon," Summer Luo noticed her phone's weak signal and ended the call.

She slipped her phone into her bag.

Holding tightly to the hard-won purchases in her arms, Summer Luo sat on the subway.

Feeling sleepy and a bit dazed, she leaned back and closed her eyes to rest.

When she woke again, her stop had arrived.
