After Song Chengyi mentioned it, Luo Yixia realized she was indeed a bit hungry.

“But the food outside doesn’t taste very good,” Luo Yixia said, sounding conflicted.

“Let’s go to the convenience store and see what you’d like to eat.”

So the two of them headed to a nearby convenience store.

To be honest, faced with the shelves lined with all kinds of snacks, Luo Yixia barely recognized any of them. She couldn’t read what was written on the labels either. Oh wait, she did recognize… rice balls.

Luo Yixia picked out a few rice balls, some bags of chocolate, and shrimp chips.

“Do you want anything?” Out of courtesy, Luo Yixia asked Song Chengyi.

“I’m fine with anything,” he replied, not particularly concerned about food.

In the end, Luo Yixia also grabbed two cups of instant noodles.

When it was time to pay, Luo Yixia quietly followed behind Song Chengyi. After all, she had no idea how to handle Japanese currency.

Song Chengyi didn’t make things difficult for her and paid without a fuss.

With snacks in hand, the two walked along the street. Streetlights lined the roadside.

Mount Fuji is located in the southeastern part of Honshu, and the surrounding area radiated a strong Japanese atmosphere.

There were quite a few people scattered along the road.

When they reached the guesthouse, Luo Yixia realized they had neighbors.

“Excuse me, are you Japanese?” a young girl asked in English.

“No, we’re Chinese,” Luo Yixia replied in English as well.

“Oh, that’s great! We’re Chinese too,” the girl switched to Mandarin.

Hearing Chinese made Luo Yixia feel an unexpected sense of warmth. It was such a comfort to hear her native language.

“What a coincidence,” Luo Yixia said with a smile.

“Are you here for Mount Fuji too? We didn’t see anyone next door earlier this afternoon. Did you just arrive tonight?” the boy standing beside the girl asked.

“Yes, we came from Tokyo and arrived tonight. We’re planning to visit Mount Fuji tomorrow,” Luo Yixia replied enthusiastically.

The girl sidled up to Luo Yixia and whispered, “Your boyfriend is really handsome.”

Luo Yixia smiled. Although the compliment was directed at Song Chengyi, she felt even happier than if it had been about herself.

“But you’re very pretty too! You’re a perfect match,” the girl added with a mischievous wink.

Luo Yixia’s smile deepened. It was rare for someone to say she and Song Chengyi made a good couple, and of course she was delighted.

This girl has such good taste, Luo Yixia thought to herself.

“Where are you from?” the girl asked.

“We’re from City C. Are you here traveling for the summer break too?” Luo Yixia guessed they were college students, since they didn’t seem much older.

“That’s right, we’re juniors this year. We came here for a trip before school starts. What about you?”

“I’m a freshman, and he’s a junior,” Luo Yixia said, pointing first to herself and then to Song Chengyi.

“I see, no wonder you look so young,” the girl replied with a laugh.

The boy beside her interjected, “Alright, let’s not bother them anymore. It’s late, and they should get some rest.”

“Okay, see you tomorrow! Maybe we can go to Mount Fuji together,” the girl said cheerfully.

“Sure, if we run into each other tomorrow, we can go together,” Luo Yixia replied, leaving it open, since she knew Song Chengyi preferred peace and quiet.

“Bye, good night!”

“Good night.”

Luo Yixia and Song Chengyi went into their room.

The girl was still talking to the boy, “That guy really looks like a celebrity—so handsome!”

“Oh, come on, quit swooning. He didn’t say a word, looked so aloof. What’s so great about a guy like that?” the boy scoffed.

“He’s a cool and distant prince, don’t you get it?” the girl rolled her eyes and went inside.

The boy sighed. Are all girls this shallow these days?
