Song Chengyi wandered around for a bit before settling himself on Luo Yixia’s bed. He leaned back, testing the mattress. “Hmm, this bed is comfortable.”

“Don’t lie on my bed, I’m a neat freak,” Luo Yixia protested without hesitation.

“You slept in my bed, so I’m just returning the favor,” Song Chengyi replied. Without another word, he grabbed the pillow from the headboard, tucked it beneath his head, and actually closed his eyes to rest.

Woken up early by Luo Yixia’s antics, he hadn’t slept well at all.

“No, if you want to sleep, go home,” Luo Yixia tried to resist.

“Be good, let me sleep a bit,” Song Chengyi mumbled.

For some reason, Luo Yixia didn’t argue any further—perhaps it was that gentle “be good” that had sweetened her heart.

She stood by the bed for a while, noticing that Song Chengyi stopped moving, his breathing gradually growing steady. He must have fallen asleep.

Luo Yixia leaned closer, quietly tugged a corner of the quilt, and draped it gently over Song Chengyi. She then sat nearby, admiring his handsome face for a while...

When Song Chengyi awoke, he found the quilt covering him. Turning his head, he saw the person beside him sleeping even more soundly than he had.

Song Chengyi smiled helplessly. “Little lazy pig,” he murmured.

He reached out and gently brushed aside the strands of hair covering Luo Yixia’s face, revealing her delicate features.

He watched as she let out soft snores, clearly deep in sleep. Suddenly, she frowned as if caught in a dream, pursed her lips, licked her dry lips, then drifted right back into peaceful slumber.

Song Chengyi’s gaze lingered on her rosy lips, their color vivid and alluring, making his throat tighten unconsciously.

Back then, she must have had the same thoughts he did now.

He leaned down slowly, but just as he was about to touch her lips, he paused and quickly came to his senses, chuckling wryly at himself.

Instead, he pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.

He rose, got off the bed, and went downstairs to pour himself a glass of water.

Zhou Yun carried dishes to the table, catching sight of Song Chengyi drinking.

“Chengyi, where’s Xiaxia? Call her down for breakfast.”

“Xiaxia’s still sleeping,” he replied.

From the kitchen, Yu Wenjing seemed to have ears everywhere, shouting out, “Sleeping in the middle of the day? Was she sneaking around last night?”

Song Chengyi laughed.

“I’ll go wake that girl up,” Yu Wenjing said, untying her apron and preparing to head upstairs.

“I’ll go wake Xiaxia,” Song Chengyi volunteered, darting up the stairs before Yu Wenjing could move.

Zhou Yun chuckled softly. “See? He knows how to protect his wife.”

Song Chengyi returned to the room, finding Luo Yixia still asleep.

“Luo Yixia, get up for breakfast,” he called twice, but she didn’t respond.

He climbed onto the bed, kneeling beside her and shaking her gently. “Time to eat!”

Luo Yixia was forced awake, mumbling, “Mom, let me sleep a bit longer... Just a bit more...”

Song Chengyi was exasperated.

“Luo Yixia, get up,” he said again.

“Mom, just a little more...” Luo Yixia turned over, clutching the quilt to her chest.

Song Chengyi had no choice but to pull her up.

But Luo Yixia, as limp as a ragdoll, leaned into Song Chengyi’s arms, still hugging the quilt.

Her actions startled him.

“How did you end up sleeping like this?”

Luo Yixia released the quilt, snuggling closer into Song Chengyi’s embrace, wrapping her arms around his waist as she had done with the quilt.

“Luo—Yi—Xia—” Song Chengyi called out through gritted teeth.

Only then did Luo Yixia wake up with a start.
