A small, aggrieved sniffle escaped her.
"Send me your location. I’ll come pay for you."
"Okay, okay, I’ll send it right now." Luo Yixia nodded eagerly, like a chick pecking at grain.

After hanging up, Luo Yixia felt a rush of delight. Thank goodness, Song Chengyi hadn’t lost his conscience… She was so moved, truly touched… She resolved to love him even more from now on.

Twenty-some minutes later, Luo Yixia stood by the counter, waiting so long she felt she might grow moss. The cashier kept casting glances her way, as did people passing by to pay.

Luo Yixia wanted nothing more than to disappear. It wasn’t as if she wasn’t going to pay—she’d just happened to forget her wallet. Why did everyone look at her like this, as if she was trying to skip out on the bill? Did she really look like someone who’d do such a thing?

Propping her head in her hands, Luo Yixia stared forlornly at the mall entrance, feeling utterly dejected.

At last, a tall figure appeared in her line of sight—a white shirt and black trousers, simple as always, yet managing to draw every eye in the room.

Luo Yixia’s eyes lit up. As expected, when Brother Song appeared, it was as if he came with his own background music.

She watched him intently as he walked toward her, and sure enough, the group of inexperienced young women behind the counter began to swoon.

"Wow… Look, look, he’s so handsome…"

"He really is…"

Luo Yixia gave a disdainful snort—clearly, they’d never seen the world.

But the next moment, she scampered over, all fawning enthusiasm. "You’re here?"

She had to tilt her head up forty-five degrees to look at Song Chengyi; after all, she was only 1.65 meters tall, while he stood at 1.89.

"Have you finished shopping?" Song Chengyi asked.

"Yes, yes, it’s all at the counter… Just haven’t paid yet…" Luo Yixia admitted, a bit embarrassed.

Song Chengyi walked to the counter, and Luo Yixia hurried after him.

"Hello, I’ll pay," Song Chengyi said, handing his card to the cashier.

"Ah… yes, of course." The cashier accepted the card, her gaze flicking back and forth between Luo Yixia and Song Chengyi, but her hands moved quickly as she rang up the purchase.

"Sir, your total comes to two thousand one hundred and sixty-eight yuan."

"Thank you." Song Chengyi took back his card and picked up the many shopping bags piled beside the counter.

Luo Yixia stared in disbelief. Good grief, she hadn’t bought that much, had she? How did it come to over two thousand?

Song Chengyi walked a few steps, then, realizing she hadn’t followed, turned back to see her still standing by the counter, dazed.

"Luo Yixia, let’s go," Song Chengyi called.

Snapping out of it, Luo Yixia replied, "Oh, coming!" and hurried after him with her little steps.

After they left, the girls at the counter continued to chat.

"That guy was so handsome—better looking than those so-called TV idols," one said.

"Yeah, and was that girl who forgot her money his girlfriend?"

"I think so. Didn’t you see him come pay for her? And he looked at her so gently."

"Sigh, as always, the handsome ones belong to someone else," they lamented.

Outside the mall, seeing Song Chengyi carrying so many bags, Luo Yixia felt a little embarrassed. She rushed over and reached out. "Let me help you with those."

"No need," Song Chengyi said, not handing anything over.

Walking beside him, Luo Yixia felt awkward and finally spoke, "Sorry to trouble you again, coming all this way just to pay for me. Don’t worry, I’ll pay you back as soon as I get home."

"No need."

"How can that be? It’s over two thousand yuan, not a small amount," Luo Yixia insisted.

"Between husband and wife, everything is shared. There’s no such thing as yours or mine," Song Chengyi replied.

Luo Yixia blinked, stunned into silence by his words.
