The next morning, Luo Yixia stretched lazily and sat up. It took her a while in her groggy state to realize she was in Song Chengyi’s apartment. Shocked, she grabbed her phone, only to see it was already past nine o’clock. She distinctly remembered setting an alarm the night before, thinking that since she was staying at someone else’s place, she should at least get up early and buy him breakfast. But where was the alarm?

Annoyed, she ruffled her hair and shuffled out of the bedroom in her slippers. The living room was empty; he must have already left for class. Then she spotted a note on the table.

Luo Yixia picked it up and read it:
PS: I’ve gone to class. I bought breakfast for you. Just heat it up in the microwave. Call me if you need anything.

Reading that, Luo Yixia’s heart fluttered with delight. Her idol—so thoughtful and attentive!

She picked up the breakfast Song Chengyi had bought, arranged it neatly on a plate, and put it in the microwave. Then she went to the bathroom to wash up.

After changing her clothes, she came out just as the breakfast finished heating. Sitting at the table, she ate the plain buns and fried dough sticks, yet felt as if it was the most delicious breakfast she’d ever had—so sweet, sweet enough to reach the depths of her heart.

After eating, she glanced at the time—it was already past ten. She decided she’d go buy some household necessities that afternoon.

She surveyed the apartment. Finally, she found an apron in the kitchen and tied it around herself. Yes, she thought, now was the time to fulfill her wifely duties and clean the place!

Silently cheering herself on, she grabbed the vacuum cleaner with newfound motivation. After fiddling with it for ages, she couldn’t figure out how to use the thing. Sitting on the floor, she stared at the vacuum she’d managed to disassemble into several pieces, feeling utterly lost.

“Agh…” Luo Yixia groaned, rubbing her messy hair in frustration. She truly had racked her brains.

Finally, she sighed, “This high-tech gadget isn’t for me. I guess I can’t cut corners after all…”

Regaining her resolve, she fetched a bucket of water from the bathroom and picked up a rag, determined to clean by hand, section by section.

But Song Chengyi’s apartment was already spotless. After cleaning for ages, she hardly found any dust. Perhaps he had a cleanliness obsession? How could a single man’s apartment be so immaculate?

Still, Luo Yixia cleaned every corner, from the living room to the bedroom, and from the bedroom to the kitchen—she didn’t spare a single spot. By the time she stopped, she was completely exhausted.

It wasn’t even a large apartment—why was it so hard to clean?

She tossed aside her rag, dragging her weary limbs onto the sofa, utterly spent.

Just then, her stomach growled at the wrong moment. Luo Yixia glanced at the wall clock—it was already one thirty. No wonder she was hungry.

She noticed an unread message on WeChat. Seeing it was from Song Chengyi, she immediately sat up straight and opened it.

It was a simple message:
I’m staying at school to handle an academic report at lunchtime, so I won’t be back. If you’re hungry, go eat at a nearby restaurant.

Luo Yixia pouted. She hadn’t expected him to come back anyway.

Still, she replied:
Mm, I just finished eating and came back, didn’t see your message.

She patted her stomach, which was rumbling with hunger, but told a little lie and claimed she’d already eaten.

Luo Yixia really didn’t want to go out; her legs felt like jelly. In the end, she ordered takeout. Hehe…
