Chapter 25: The Empty City!

After roughly half an hour of warming up in the hills behind the house, Fang Can set off for home.
Along the way, he made a rough calculation of the physical abilities he had just displayed.
His strength was around 1.5 tons, while his maximum speed was 18 meters per second.
Accelerating from a standstill to his limit, he could complete a hundred meters in under seven seconds.
At the same time, his body could maintain exceptional flexibility while possessing greater toughness than solid wood.
Under direct sunlight, he could sustain full-power combat for at least three hours.
All of these traits proved that Fang Can had now reached a terrifying, inhuman level.
In the ancient civilization before the Great Destruction, where no miracles existed, if ordinary people tried to wear Fang Can down through sheer numbers, he could take the lives of at least tens of thousands before finally being killed.
Of course, that was assuming sufficient sunlight.
On a moonless, cloud-covered night, even if Fang Can fought to the death without retreating, he would be unable to hold out after killing two or three thousand people at most.
What a pity. Against those superpowered individuals, this level of strength was still nowhere near enough. He had yet to reach the necessary level.
Every superpowered individual possessed an unfathomably strange ability. No matter how powerful someone was, no one could be certain they were capable of standing alone against the entire world.
After all, no one knew whether there might be some ability specifically capable of countering their own.
Looking at the bright full moon that had risen after the sun sank in the west, Fang Can tilted his head slightly.
“Moonlight… should be reflected sunlight too, right?”
With that thought, he immediately sensed the conversion efficiency within his body increase by a tiny amount.
However, because most of the light was scattered and refracted, the rate at which he could absorb it was far slower than under direct sunlight.
Feeling the change taking place within him, Fang Can could not help but laugh.
“Ah, the power of belief.”
He said nothing else along the way. After walking several kilometers, Fang Can pushed open the door and saw a figure resembling a celestial maiden sitting cross-legged on the cold ceramic floor, cultivating beneath the faint moonlight shining through the window.
Taking advantage of the moonlight, Fang Can casually studied her face as he closed the door.
She was breathtakingly beautiful.

To be honest, when Fang Can first met the girl, he seriously suspected that fate had arranged their encounter with ulterior motives.
He had nearly assumed she had come to offer herself to him.
That realization even made him question himself.
Was he really so starved for affection that even fate could no longer bear to watch and had begun taking action, preparing to play matchmaker and find him a companion?
Was his life about to unfold into one of those ridiculous stories in which he was surrounded by beautiful girls, or in which his girlfriend came from another world?
He shook his head lightly and cleared those thoughts from his mind. Fang Can prepared to ignore the girl and continue tempering his body inside the house.
But Jiang Ning'an seemed to sense his return. She stopped circulating her energy and slowly opened her eyes.
“You’re back.”
Although her expression remained calm, Jiang Ning'an was inwardly relieved when she saw that Fang Can had not reported her.
After all, even though she had chosen to trust him, she had known this man for only one night. An instinctive suspicion still surfaced in her mind from time to time.
Fang Can’s actions now proved that she had not placed her bet incorrectly, and this naturally eased the stiffness between them.
“Yes. It seems you chose not to go outside today.” Fang Can nodded. “Next, I’ll teach you some basic knowledge about the modern world. Come with me.”
Jiang Ning'an obediently nodded and followed Fang Can into the bedroom.
But as she drew closer to him, her brows knitted slightly. She sensed a faint, inexplicable discord, as though Fang Can’s martial cultivation had undergone a qualitative improvement in the span of a single night.
How is that possible? It must be an illusion.
Jiang Ning'an rejected the thought inwardly.
Tempering the physical body was the most painstaking and gradual of processes. Even someone as extraordinarily gifted as herself had needed an entire year of arduous practice merely to achieve flawless flesh and blood. Becoming stronger overnight was simply impossible.
It couldn’t be that this fellow had truly accomplished all this in seven days, could it? Surely not.
Whether in theory or in practice, such a thing was absolutely impossible. Completely impossible.
Suppressing the illusion that had just arisen in her mind, the girl followed Fang Can into the bedroom. There, she saw him press a button on a metal box. The next moment, a bright light sprang to life.
“What is this?”
The girl stared intently at the computer case. She had long been eager to understand the marvelous technologies of this world.

“Don’t rush. You’ll know soon enough.”
Fang Can opened the computer and selected a video from a streaming website titled “How a Time Traveler Can Blend In as a Modern Human.”
One had to admit that humanity had taken absurdity to an extreme. There were creators making every kind of content imaginable.
But Fang Can needed a way to help a native of another world adapt to modern society, and this video happened to be a tremendous help.
Under Jiang Ning'an’s blank stare, Fang Can seated her in the gaming chair.
“Watch this entire hour-long video. By the time you finish, you should have a basic understanding of this country’s current situation.”
Jiang Ning'an nodded uncertainly. She watched the stern, animated content creator on the computer screen and began studying in earnest.
Fang Can gazed at Jiang Ning'an as she diligently absorbed modern knowledge, occasionally showing expressions such as, “So that’s how it is,” “Wow,” and “That’s amazing.”
He thought to himself, “The fact that the two worlds happen to share a common language is absurd, but it sure is convenient at a time like this. At least we don’t have to spend time learning even the most basic communication.”
Fang Can shook his head with a smile. He planned to wait until Jiang Ning'an finished the video, then use it to teach her how to operate the various modern appliances and furnishings.
Still… surely he wouldn’t need to teach her how to use the toilet, right?
Fang Can pondered the matter.
After all, shedding the mortal body was itself a process of divinization. Martial artists who had completely cast off their mortal constitution and returned to their original nature could, apart from those belonging to certain special systems, sever their dependence on ordinary food.
Although this might greatly disappoint some users of the nuclear forum, theoretically speaking, a beautiful girl who had shed her mortal body truly would not need to defecate.
All kinds of thoughts wandered through Fang Can’s mind. Realizing that he had been thinking about far too many strange things lately, he walked out of the room and slowly began practicing the Sixty-Six Forms of the Tiger Devouring Fist.
Although the technique of the Tiger Fiend Sect displayed on his status panel had been altered, the sect’s boxing style did possess considerable merit when it came to tempering the body. Fang Can therefore began practicing according to its methods.
Meanwhile, throughout the entirety of Z City, every superpowered individual received an order from the higher-ups of the Dragon Group: evacuate the city within a single night.
Though they had no idea what their superiors intended to do, these people still proceeded to leave in orderly succession, bringing along their wives, concubines, and entire households.
In the span of just one night, Z City appeared unchanged on the surface. In reality, however, it had already become an empty city devoid of superpowered individuals.
