Chapter Fifteen: I'm Not Taking the Contract—What Money Are You Asking Me For?
Page (1/3)
“You can’t take the melons in your hands away. If you want to take them, you have to sign the land lease contract first.”
“That’s right, this is robbery. You came in without our consent.”
“...”
Several staff members started chattering incessantly, their meaning clear: if you want to take the melons, you must sign the contract.
Xu Xiu stepped forward.
“Wait a moment. Let me help you think this through. When I came here, didn’t you say this was your field?”
“You can’t pick melons even if you didn’t say that,” the staff argued stubbornly.
Xu Xiu waved his hand. “Just admit it—you didn’t say anything, right?”
“Yes.”
“Good. Since you didn’t say anything, why should I pay you for picking watermelons?”
“No, this land needs to be leased. You have to pay for it.”
“Look, I never said I wanted to lease the land either!”
“That’s not right. You’re trying to confuse me—it’s the watermelons that require payment.”
“Why would I pay for picking watermelons? Didn’t you say payment is only required if I lease the land? I’m not leasing it, so why should I pay you for picking melons?”
“...”
“...”
“...”
The staff were utterly baffled by Xu Xiu’s logic, while Wang Chuanjun and the others watched him as if he were a hero.
Awesome!
Unstoppable!
In the end, the three staff members couldn’t handle it and had to call the director over.
Unexpectedly, Gao Liang actually indulged Xu Xiu, letting them take the watermelons so easily.
Just as Gao Liang turned to leave, Xu Xiu called out to him.
“Wait! Director, you don’t have many melons left in your patch. How about you just give them to us for free?”
Even though Gao Liang was trying to keep his composure, the corner of his mouth twitched.
This guy wanted to squeeze every last drop out of him and wouldn’t let go of any opportunity.
“No way! There must be at least ten watermelons left here. You actually want to freeload?”
“See, that’s not quite right. What you said makes me feel bad. I’m not freeloading—I’m just recycling useless resources.”
“If we don’t lease the patch, won’t you have to send someone to clean up? There aren’t many melons left anyway, so why not let us help?”
Xu Xiu spoke eloquently and logically, almost convincing the director.
“Fine, if you can come up with 150 contribution points, I’ll let you lease two plots.”
Xu Xiu’s smile froze instantly. Normally, one plot costs 80 contribution points; two should be 160. What’s the difference here?
“Eighty!”
“One hundred fifty!”
“I’ll give you eighty!”

“I’ll do a minimum of one hundred fifty!”
Gao Liang immediately locked horns with Xu Xiu. He wanted to see what tricks this kid could pull!
One hundred fifty was his bottom line. There was no way he would budge; he couldn’t let Xu Xiu take advantage. What if they stopped working?
“One hundred fifty, right?”
Xu Xiu put down the watermelon and turned to run toward the vegetable garden.
Gao Liang’s mind went blank.
He never expected Xu Xiu to play this card. Although he knew Xu Xiu’s thinking was different, he couldn’t believe he would break the rules so blatantly!
“Stop! Don’t take my melons!”
Gao Liang raised his hand, striking a pose reminiscent of a famous TV character.
Hearing this, Xu Xiu paused, holding the watermelon aloft.
“Eighty!”
“You’re dreaming!”
Xu Xiu pretended to throw the melon to the ground. Gao Liang hurriedly waved his hand.
“Alright, you’re ruthless. One hundred. I’ll give you two plots.”
“Hehe~ Director Gao, you should have said so earlier. I’m not unreasonable. One hundred it is. Whoever backs out is a little dog!”
“...”
Gao Liang turned on his heel and left.
Disgusting!
You really make me sick!
This scene nearly made the audience burst out laughing.
“LOL, this guy doesn’t dare NOT do something, does he? He’s acting like the big boss.”
“Look at this fool, how dare he just walk into the garden in front of the director? And the director chickened out!”
“But doesn’t this feel a little inappropriate? The show’s rules were clearly set…”
“Rules? Rules are meant to be broken! Why watch the show if we just follow the rules?”
“I don’t believe Xu Xiu would actually throw the watermelon. Director, don’t chicken out. I just want to see him fail once—is that so hard?”
Meanwhile, the four had arrived at the contract signing spot. The other three looked at Xu Xiu with admiration.
“Xu Xiu, you’re really amazing!” Dong Xuan gave him a thumbs-up.
“You’re my hero!” Wang Chuanjun admired him deeply.
Meng Ziyi blinked her big eyes. “You’re incredible. How did you dare?”
Xu Xiu ignored their praises. This was normal, wasn’t it?
Who said only the production team could make things difficult? It was only fair they made things difficult for the production team, too.
“Do all of us have to sign?” Xu Xiu asked.
“Yes, everyone must sign,” a staff member replied coldly, nodding.
Xu Xiu ignored the staff and bit his pen, thinking.

“Forget it, let’s just come up with a group name. Signing individually is too troublesome.”
Of course, this was just Xu Xiu’s obsession talking—he had dreamed of forming a group.
He couldn’t form a group through the talent show, but forming one on a variety show was no problem, right?
“Huh? A group name? Oh my, I’m thirty-six years old and still have a chance to form a group? I’m officially in a group now!” Wang Chuanjun joked.
“Alright then, our group will be called ‘Prince Xuan, Xiu!’”
“???”
“???”
“???”
The three looked at each other with question marks floating above their heads.
Did you even listen to what you just said?
That doesn’t sound like a group name—it sounds like a person’s name.
“Wait, isn’t that name a bit too hasty?”
“It doesn’t even sound like a group name. I don’t know, I thought Prince Xuan was some girl’s name.”
“Should we change it? If not, maybe this group won’t work anyway.”
Xu Xiu glanced at the three.
Look, they’re anxious again!
“This group name is perfect. Very powerful. Don’t believe me? Say it with me: Prince Xuan—Xiu!!!”
Xu Xiu suddenly shouted loudly, emphasizing the last word.
The three exchanged glances and fell silent.
This is too embarrassing!
It’s not that they didn’t want to shout along, but they just couldn’t!
Xu Xiu was stunned.
What? Why aren’t you shouting with me?
“What’s wrong? Try it, it sounds powerful when you shout it!”
“Prince Xuan—Xiu!!!”
“Prince Xuan, Xiu…” ×3
The three lost their energy on the last word, barely even voicing it.
Xu Xiu gave them a speechless look.
No power at all? You’d think you were ashamed just by looking at you three!
Only when they shouted the slogan loudly, clearly, and with full force did Xu Xiu finally release them.

Then Xu Xiu began signing the contract.
