Chapter 49: You Don’t Understand How Powerful Brother Qi Is (Please Keep Reading)

“You’re too slow!”
Qiu Jie brandished his spear, his figure as nimble as a wisp of green smoke. In the blink of an eye, he appeared before Lin Qi.
He stood about six feet tall, with an easy, windlike bearing. Every muscle on his body seemed forged from refined iron—lean, powerful, and agile. As he moved, the resistance of the air seemed to weaken continuously.
Lin Qi had to admit that Qiu Jie was indeed fast.
In the next instant, Qiu Jie thrust his spear forward. It tore through the air with the swiftness of a gale.
Whoosh, whoosh!
Spear shadows flickered like a sudden storm of driving rain.
Dripping Water Spear Art, First Form: Swift Waterline Thrust!
His spear shot forward like a perfectly straight line of water, stabbing directly toward Lin Qi’s eyes.
If it struck, the battle would most likely end at once.
At the same time, Lin Qi attacked with his own spear. Power surged through his arm as the shaft trembled and spun, tracing a circle through the air.
Spiral Break!
In an instant, the two spears collided. Their force erupted, and their keen strength sought to tear through the other.
Clang!
The spears struck together, sparks flying as the impact traveled into both their arms.
Each retreated a step, then planted their feet and charged once more.
Suddenly, Qiu Jie exploded into action. His speed rose sharply, and he thrust out a skyful of spear shadows before Lin Qi, catching him off guard and making it impossible to distinguish the real attack from the false.
Every thrust was firm and fierce, like water dripping through stone, carrying an unstoppable momentum.
Clang, clang!
Sensing the sharpness of his opponent’s spear art, Lin Qi swung his weapon in a defensive circle, using it to evade the attacks.
…
Inside the virtual room, all forty-nine students in the class watched the live battle. Many whispered among themselves.
“Who do you think will win, Lin Qi or Qiu Jie?” someone asked softly.
“In theory, judging by their rankings, Qiu Jie is tenth in the year, while Lin Qi is eighteenth. The gap is pretty large. Lin Qi probably isn’t his match.”
“Neither of them is restricted in blood-energy value. Lin Qi has no advantage in either blood energy or spear technique. I think Qiu Jie will probably win in the end.”
Someone offered a calm analysis, and many nodded in agreement.
“I think Lin Qi must be stronger than we imagine, since Teacher Zhang acknowledged him. He may not necessarily lose.”
Others disagreed.
“I don’t believe Lin Qi can win. Everyone knows Teacher Zhang especially likes giving him guidance. Maybe he’s abusing his authority for personal reasons this time.”
“If Lin Qi loses later, I’d like to see how he gets out of it,” someone said gleefully.
“What the hell are you laughing at?”
“You people don’t understand how strong Brother Qi is!” Jiang Tao snorted in rebuttal.
Not far away, Zhang Cheng also heard the discussion. His gaze remained fixed on the live broadcast as he watched Lin Qi, the corners of his lips curving slightly upward.
Elsewhere, Yu Jing watched the broadcast and said, “Lin Qi is definitely going to lose.”
“Don’t reach a conclusion so soon,” Qi Yuelin retorted.
Li Zhou said nothing. Frowning, he stared at the broadcast. Faced with Qiu Jie’s stormlike assault, Lin Qi seemed only able to wave his spear and evade.
Lin Qi truly appeared to be no match for him, yet the martial training he had received since childhood told him that this battle was not so simple.
…
Red Realm Arena
Clang, clang!
“Dodge, dodge, dodge! Is dodging all you can do?”

“As a man, don’t you even have the courage to face me head-on?”
Qiu Jie swung his spear madly. Wave after wave of spear shadows erupted like a raging storm, stabbing relentlessly as they clashed with Lin Qi.
Every tremor of the spear tip and every swing came with the speed of a violent downpour, leaving the eye unable to follow.
At the same time, he continued taunting Lin Qi furiously, venting his emotions through the battle.
In an instant, his spear art plunged like a waterfall from the heavens, its momentum fierce as he thrust forward with astonishing speed.
Waterfall Impact!
Clang!
Lin Qi’s gaze hardened. He swept his great spear sideways, channeling strength through his arms. The weapons collided once more, and the overwhelming force traveled into his limbs, forcing him back several steps.
He watched Qiu Jie expressionlessly, unaffected by his words.
Qiu Jie practiced the Dripping Water Spear Art, a technique as swift as the wind that focused on pushing speed to its limit. When executed, it seemed to embody water wearing away stone, as well as the explosive force and sustained power of countless drops gathering into a river.
“Qiu Jie’s blood-energy value is higher than mine, probably already above 9.0. He’s a little faster than me, but his strength is about the same.”
Lin Qi analyzed the situation inwardly. His physical gifts had undergone a transformation, and the force of his punches exceeded what his blood-energy value should have allowed.
It was like Li Zhou, whose punching power surpassed the First Realm even though his blood-energy value was only 9.8.
Whoosh!
Lin Qi looked at Qiu Jie, and his bearing suddenly changed. A sharp glint flashed through his eyes.
“We’ve been fighting long enough. Now it’s my turn.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Lin Qi’s figure blurred. He shot forward, his body stretching open as power surged endlessly from his spine.
A fierce, domineering aura burst from him. His spear thrust forward with sudden force, as though mountain after mountain were collapsing.
“You?”
Qiu Jie sneered and charged again like lightning. His spear ripped through the air as strength surged through his arm. In an instant, he thrust several times, each strike accompanied by a wind that tore through the air.
Splintering Water!
Clang, clang!
The two clashed again, the force traveling through their spears and into their arms.
At the instant of impact, Qiu Jie’s expression changed. He felt a terrifying force surge into both arms, leaving his muscles aching and numb.
“How is this possible? Lin Qi’s strength is actually greater than mine?” Qiu Jie thought in shock.
“I don’t believe it!”
His thoughts became chaotic. He poured all his strength into the spear, making it tremble rapidly like countless raindrops scattering through the air.
Rain in Flight!
A countless number of spear shadows descended upon Lin Qi. When faced with this technique earlier, Lin Qi had been unable to block it and could only defend passively.
But now, in Lin Qi’s eyes, every one of Qiu Jie’s movements was perfectly clear. He saw the flaws with absolute precision.
The next moves Qiu Jie would make appeared in his mind, and he immediately thought of several ways to counter them.
The following instant, Lin Qi swung his spear and raised it horizontally. He located the genuine thrust with perfect accuracy and broke it apart.
Clang!
The spears collided. Qiu Jie was thrown backward, his attack faltering under the obstruction. The speed of his spear art instantly slowed.
“What?”
Qiu Jie was horrified. His technique had actually been blocked so easily?
“No matter how fast your spear art is, it’s useless!”
“I’ve already seen through you!”
Lin Qi spoke coldly.
“Looking for death!”
Qiu Jie flew into a rage. “I have a killing move. I’ll finish you with one strike!”

In the next second, his body erupted with power. His blood energy surged as the strength of his entire body flowed into the spear. He brought forth the very essence of the technique, and the spear tip flashed forward at incredible speed.
Killing Move—Water Without a Trace!
The speed of his killing move reached its absolute limit. The cold gleam of the spearhead had already arrived.
Yet the corners of Lin Qi’s lips lifted slightly, as though he had anticipated it long ago. In an instant, his spear technique changed.
His wrist suddenly exerted force. His spine braced itself joint by joint, and blood energy carried power into the muscles of his arm. Strength erupted like a flame catching fire.
Lin Qi controlled that force steadily, channeling it through his fingers before thrusting it out with sudden violence.
Mountain-Crushing Spear Art—Collapsing Thrust!
An ordinary move against a killing move!
Both techniques were unleashed simultaneously, but Qiu Jie felt a terrifying danger descend upon him. Terror seized his heart.
Pfft!
The two great spears passed within inches of each other, and Qiu Jie felt an intense pain.
Bang!
A tremendous force struck his body, sending him flying helplessly through the air before he crashed heavily onto the ground.
“You’ve lost!”
Lin Qi spoke without emotion. At that moment, his presence was cold and murderous, like a man-eating tiger.
“In my eyes, your spear art is full of flaws. Even if we fought ten more times, you still couldn’t win.”
“You really are nothing but a clown.”
“You…”
Battle concluded. You have died!
Qiu Jie was so furious he nearly vomited blood. But in the next instant, his body dissolved into nothingness and vanished from the arena.
…
Outside the Screen
Silence!
For a moment, the virtual room fell completely quiet. Then the entire class erupted.
“Damn, did I see that correctly?!”
“Lin Qi actually won! He killed Qiu Jie with one move and turned the whole battle around!” Kang Feiyue cried out in disbelief.
Was this really the same master of basic techniques he knew? How could he be so powerful?
The others were equally unable to believe it.
Yu Jing’s expression turned ugly. He had misjudged the situation, and Lin Qi had truly won. His former classmate seemed to be drawing closer and closer to him.
Qi Yuelin grew even more curious about Lin Qi.
“That was truly an unexpected battle. Interesting.” Li Zhou grinned. He had seen more than the others: Qiu Jie’s defeat had been decided from the very beginning.
In a corner, Chen Zichuan watched in shock. He had never imagined that Lin Qi could be so powerful.
“Brother Qi is incredible!”
“I knew Qiu Jie could never beat Brother Qi.”
“And he actually looked down on Brother Qi. He was practically begging to get beaten.”
Jiang Tao burst into laughter. No one in the entire class was happier than he was.
When Qiu Jie emerged from the virtual pod and heard Jiang Tao’s words, his expression grew even darker.
