Chapter 7: Returning to the Company

Noticing Li Chuxi’s sense of helplessness, Lingling Yao quickly spoke up, “Host, you have to trust the system! The system will definitely secure the greatest benefits for you.”

“Heh,” Li Chuxi responded skeptically, “I’d be grateful enough if you just don’t cause me trouble.”

Sighing at the thought of continuing with the tasks ahead, she suddenly found her snacks in hand lost all appeal.

“Host, don’t say that!” Lingling Yao’s tone held a hint of mystery. “If you knew what the rewards were, you’d definitely think my decision was the right one.”

“Oh, really?” Li Chuxi had no expectations at all.

“Host, do you miss those abnormal abilities?” Lingling Yao continued, “The ones you couldn’t bring back, fearing they would affect this world.”

“Could it be… that you actually intend to return all those abilities to me now?”

A flicker of hope stirred within Li Chuxi.

When she first came back, most of her powers had returned with her. However, those related to cultivation, fortune-telling, and other supernatural skills couldn’t be brought back, as they might disrupt the order and cause chaos in this world.

“That’s right!” Lingling Yao said excitedly. “After discussions with headquarters, it’s been decided that if you continue completing tasks, besides earning points, you can gradually unlock those abilities too.”

Hearing this, Li Chuxi’s interest was instantly piqued. “Is what you’re saying true?”

“Of course it is,” Lingling Yao said proudly. “These are all benefits I fought hard to negotiate with headquarters for you, host!”

“Thank you, Lingling Yao,” Li Chuxi said sincerely, promising, “I’ll make sure to turn you into a physical form by morning.”

“That would be wonderful!” Lingling Yao was delighted but didn’t forget to remind, “Host, you must remember your promise! Then I can enjoy delicious food too. I’ll tell the other systems about these tastes and make them envious.”

The next morning, Li Chuxi slept in, then leisurely got up, took a shower, and ate breakfast before heading to the company.

She currently worked at Glorious Entertainment, a well-known media company in the industry. Besides training newcomers, the company also invested in and produced films, TV dramas, and musicals.

Over the years, Glorious Entertainment had nurtured many top-tier stars, including several award-winning actors and actresses.

Since she had no pressing matters today, Li Chuxi decided to visit the company. Another reason was that since five that morning, Yao Ling had been bombarding her with incessant calls.

Lost in thought, her phone rang again.

Looking at Yao Ling’s name flashing on the screen, Li Chuxi blinked, then finally answered the call.

“Li Chuxi, are you feeling brave? How dare you ignore my calls! Get back to the company right now. If you don’t show up today, you’ll bear the consequences!”

A trace of sarcasm flashed in Li Chuxi’s eyes. After all Yao Ling had taken from her, she still had this attitude. Truly, an ungrateful ingrate!

“I’m already downstairs.”

With that, Li Chuxi hung up the phone.

Seeing the call disconnected, Yao Ling was furious beyond words. “How dare she hang up on me?”

Beside her, Liu Shangshang quickly stepped forward, handing Yao Ling a glass of water and soothingly said, “Sister Yao, don’t be angry; anger ages you. Even though you’re young, it’s best to prevent it.”

Hearing Liu Shangshang’s words, Yao Ling’s anger gradually softened.

“Shangshang, you really have a good nature!” She reached out and patted Liu Shangshang on the shoulder. “I’ve already pulled some strings for the role from Director Chen, but you still need to perform well during the audition, understand?”
