Li Chuxi was unaware of what happened afterward. After leaving the Li family, she went straight to the stock exchange and opened an account. She kept only a few thousand yuan for living expenses and invested all the money from selling her gold into the stock market at once.

After investing in several promising stocks, Li Chuxi returned to her small apartment.

The sudden scolding stunned Linglingyao, and its voice abruptly ceased. But soon it came back even louder than before.

The matter of points was a perpetual sore spot for it.

Without Li Chuxi’s consent, it had secretly used all those points to upgrade itself. Now, that was a weakness that made Linglingyao bow its head before her for no reason.

Just thinking about it was enough to bring tears to its eyes.

However, if it had to do it again, it probably would make the same choice. After all, the temptation of upgrading was too great.

“The real matter?” Li Chuxi was momentarily caught off guard.

“Director Chen’s new film!” Linglingyao almost screamed. “Host, surely you haven’t forgotten the mission!”

“Of course I remember,” Li Chuxi raised an eyebrow and smiled reassuringly. “Linglingyao, don’t worry, the mission will be completed.”

Seeing Li Chuxi so confident, Linglingyao seemed to calm down a bit.

But it still earnestly pleaded, “Host, don’t blame me for being nagging, but we…”

“Since you know you’re nagging, say less,” Li Chuxi cut it off and snapped, “Linglingyao, how can you be so annoying as a system?”

“How can you say that about me, host?” Linglingyao sounded hurt. “I only do this for your own good. We need to earn lots of popularity points to unlock your various abilities!”

“Let me check!” Linglingyao’s voice quickly returned. “Host, your current popularity points are negative 8,567,581.”

“What?” Li Chuxi doubted her ears. “Linglingyao, you said... negative? Are you sure?”

“How can you doubt the system’s accuracy?” Linglingyao spoke solemnly. “The numbers I give you are the latest real-time data. Believe me, your popularity points are negative.”

“In other words, those 8,567,581 are your haters. Or rather, the number after subtracting your fans from your haters!”

“Simply put, you have more haters than fans.”

The money now transferred to her account should be the living expenses she was owed over the past seven years.

Where those living expenses went, she could guess.

Before, she didn’t care about this money, and now she still didn’t. But she could refuse it; she wouldn’t let anyone else take what was hers.

Without her consent, even if they ate it, she would make them spit it out—that was the only way to be fair.
