Ran Xing leisurely took out a pack of diapers from the car and, feigning generosity, handed it over.
Seeing the other person freeze in place, she raised an eyebrow and gestured:
“What’s the matter? Still won’t accept it? I went to several stores before choosing this brand, so don’t worry, the quality is excellent.”
Wen Xiaoning’s face darkened, her expression twisting into a tight knot as she demanded,
“Ran Xing, what do you mean by giving me diapers?”
Ran Xing’s eyes showed innocence, her voice coquettishly teasing,
“Can’t you tell? I’m preparing this for the baby in your belly in advance.”
Wen Xiaoning’s heart tightened; she swallowed nervously but forced a calm smile,
“Sister Ran, don’t joke around. I’m not pregnant, so this gift isn’t appropriate, is it?”
Ran Xing, however, shoved the diapers firmly into Wen Xiaoning’s hands, smiling brightly,
“I’ve already seen your doctor. He told me personally—you’re already two months pregnant.”
Wen Xiaoning’s heart plummeted as if struck by lightning; her eyes flitted nervously, and she unconsciously rubbed her hands, palms sweating.
Panicking, she stammered, “You… you already know?”
She had been careful enough; how could Ran Xing have found out?
But thankfully, she had felt uneasy when Ran Xing called earlier today.
And thanks to that, she was somewhat prepared.
Since Ran Xing had come willingly, she couldn’t blame her now!

It was rare to see Wen Xiaoning so frightened and anxious in front of her, and deep down, Ran Xing felt a surge of pride.
Calmly, she said,
“This is wonderful news. I was even thinking about whether to let the crew know, especially the director.”
She deliberately emphasized the word “director.”
“Sister Ran, please don’t. I was wrong, okay? The projector—I originally planned to give it to you, but it disappeared somehow. I swear, I’m not lying.”
Tears spilled from Wen Xiaoning’s eyes as she spoke, looking pitiful and delicate.
Ran Xing chuckled softly, adopting a sympathetic demeanor.
“If the projector’s lost, then it’s lost. Actually, if you don’t want the director to know, that’s fine too.”
Hearing this hint of a change, Wen Xiaoning’s eyes gleamed, and she eagerly asked,
“No matter what it is, Sister Ran, I’ll listen to you, okay?”
“Where did you get the photo of Xu Ting?”
The few words burst out from Ran Xing’s mouth without hesitation.
Wen Xiaoning quickly changed the subject, gently tugging Ran Xing’s arm with a sincere smile,

“How about this, Sister Ran? It’s windy outside. Let’s go inside and talk, okay? I promise I’ll tell you everything you want to know.”
Ran Xing was about to refuse but, remembering Wen Xiaoning might be involved with Yang Likang, decided to follow her inside.
Once inside, Wen Xiaoning warmly brought over some tea.
“This is West Lake Longjing tea. I wonder if Sister Ran is used to drinking it?”
Ran Xing sat upright on the luxurious leather sofa and asked directly,
“Do you know Yang Likang?”
Wen Xiaoning paused while pouring tea but then pretended to be calm, filling the cup, and responded with a hint of self-mockery,
“Sister Ran, who am I? How could I possibly know President Yang?”
“Then tell me, where did the photo of Xu Ting come from?”
Wen Xiaoning glanced outside, noticing the faint flicker of a flashlight, and smiled slightly. “Sister Ran, you’re getting anxious again. I’ve already brewed tea for you. Try it first. I’m still thinking about who sent me that photo.”
Ran Xing swallowed her anger, losing the last of her patience.
She stood up, unwilling to play word games with Wen Xiaoning any longer, her tone tinged with displeasure.
“If you can’t remember, I won’t force you. But don’t blame me if there’s some explosive entertainment news tomorrow.”
With that, Ran Xing left without hesitation.
Just as her hand pushed the door handle, a sharp voice called out behind her.
“Ran Xing.”
Hearing her full name called, she was not surprised.
After all, this was Wen Xiaoning’s true nature.
“What? No more pretending?”
She asked with interest.
Wen Xiaoning shrugged, a meaningful smile on her lips.
“Actually, it doesn’t matter anymore, so I might as well tell you.”
Then she suddenly laughed.
“The photo was indeed given to me by President Yang. And he also told me that Xu Ting is your fiancé.”
Ran Xing was stunned, almost losing her footing.
So Yang Likang had always known about her relationship with Xu Ting.
Could it be that she had been completely manipulated by Yang Likang?
But if Yang Likang knew she was getting close to Zhang Tong to avenge Xu Ting, why did he help her approach Zhang Tong?
He could have just told Zhang Tong directly and used him to get rid of her as a problem.
But he didn’t do that.
Or perhaps Yang Likang had no direct connection to Xu Ting’s death.
The more she thought about it, the more her head felt like it was going to explode.

Seeing her in such a state, Wen Xiaoning clapped her hands and watched with amusement, her smile hard to hide.
Ran Xing ignored the mocking laughter behind her, turned, and pushed the door open to leave.
“Wait,” Wen Xiaoning walked up slowly, threw the pack of diapers on the floor with a thud, and snorted coldly, “You can take this back. I don’t think the baby in my belly needs such a cheap thing.”
Ran Xing didn’t respond but kicked the diapers aside lightly, her eyes flickering with a faint smile, calm and indifferent.
“Then just throw it away.”
She glanced at the woman who reveled in her misfortune, then pushed open the door and left.
Wen Xiaoning gritted her teeth in frustration, but as soon as she thought about what was about to happen, a smile returned to her face. She waved at Ran Xing’s departing back and murmured,
“Ran Xing, may you have a safe journey.”

By the time she returned, it was already late at night.
On the highway, a few cars sped past her.
Ran Xing gripped the steering wheel, her mind still on Wen Xiaoning’s words.
It seemed she hadn’t lied.
Xu Ting had indeed worked under Yang Likang; it wasn’t surprising that Yang Likang had photos of Xu Ting.
And Wen Xiaoning had only one way to obtain those photos.
But now she was even more curious—did Yang Likang have any connection with Zhang Tong?
What was Zhang Tong’s reason for killing Xu Ting?
As she pondered this, a large truck suddenly appeared ahead.
Less than five hundred meters away, it flashed its high beams.
Ran Xing blinked against the dazzling light and instinctively pressed the brake.
No matter how hard she pressed, the car’s speed didn’t slow.
As she neared a collision, she acted quickly and swerved the steering wheel.
Seeing the speed increasing, Ran Xing forced herself to calm down, took a deep breath, and pulled out her phone to call for help.
Accidentally, the phone slipped into the gap beside the passenger seat.
Seeing no cars around, Ran Xing reluctantly freed a hand and half-squatted to reach for it.
Just then, the phone vibrated with a beeping sound.
Ran Xing put on her earphones and said,
“Answering the call.”
A cheerful male voice came through the headset.
“Sister Ran, where are you?”
