Book One, Chapter 37: Do I Look Familiar to You?

The brocade-clad young man walked up to Fu Wenren, kicked him to the ground, and planted his foot on his face as he arrogantly declared.
“Honored Grand Magus, please open the door. His Majesty has ordered me to escort you to the inner palace.” Outside, the captain of the guards returned once more, holding up a command token.
The old man was the Elder Tian mentioned by Ou Yan, once one of the three chief chamberlains of the Yuan Shui royal palace. Few people, however, knew of his other identity: he had once been an outer elder of the Evil Blood Sect.
Ye Rou was puzzled as well and was just about to follow him and ask what was going on when she saw Ye San and the other three hurrying after them.
Jiang Rui did not go back on his word and betrothed Yimei to Yuan Cheng. A year later, Yimei gave birth to a plump baby boy. When Yuan Cheng took the child into his arms, he suddenly felt that the infant looked familiar. Why, it was none other than the clay doll he had molded the previous year.
Just then, a vast spiritual radiance shot into the sky. A figure soared through the air, and a faint gleam of sword light appeared in his hand.
The Explosive Sword collided with the enormous steel sword. A weapon made of ordinary steel could naturally never withstand Alei’s Explosive Sword.
From below, the sword dance onstage was reaching its climax, harmonious and beautiful. Yet for the two people onstage, the experience was entirely different.
After taking several palm strikes at the peak of their power, even Jin Yueban, with his thick hide and heavy flesh, could not escape death. His internal organs had been shattered by the blows; he was already beyond dead.
After Brother Qin finished speaking, he threw a punch toward Chen Xinghai’s left shoulder, the force of it stirring up a fierce wind. Chen Xinghai rolled his shoulder and dodged.
“How curious,” Ji Min asked. As she spoke, she instinctively reached out to grab the muscles on Liang Shan’s arm. But the instant she extended her hand, she realized it was inappropriate, and the tips of her ears immediately flushed red.
“That is something for young people to deal with. What are you going there for? Don’t go and spoil everything!” Long Xi said with complete seriousness.
Although Liang Shan was tempted, he also understood that the rules of the Brotherhood Gathering were immutable. If he allowed Zhang Qilong to break them, the Black Dragon Society would likely have no credibility left throughout the Jiangnan Circuit. He therefore asked hesitantly.
“A feint to the left?!” Guo Zihao instantly saw through Helian Zongshen’s intention and moved in, preparing to close the distance.
“Jing Zeming is among these people?” Yao Muchen was slightly taken aback. Then a delighted smile spread across his handsome face.

Although she did not know which prominent family Chen Xinghai came from, his character did not seem wicked, and she was more than happy to have one less thing to worry about.
“What is it?” Wang Feng asked doubtfully, looking at Ding Yuhan as though she had been wronged.
Fang Ning said, “The caravan has been gone for less than fifteen days this time. It may already have reached the nearest city. But whether we can buy grain there is still unknown!” Fang Ning’s sigh made Li Ren even more worried. Just then, someone reported from outside that a subordinate of Li Ren’s, a man surnamed Tang, was seeking an urgent audience.
The black-clad men surrounding them all hurled the black spears in their hands. Their spearheads flashed as they tore through the air with shrill whistles.
“I, the great king, am in a good mood today. Let’s throw a huge party!” Shen Fang began preparing to have a truly wild time.
“I understood it all at once! Haha, Brother Hao, you really are amazing!” Li Hui looked as though he had suddenly seen the light.
As the wheel turned and the beads rolled onward, Feng Huoyu thought to himself, “Manifest Living Things, A Thousand Moons in Flux”—Ice Condensation Technique. This was the wondrous application of the Ice Needle Technique.
Although it was a passive attack, if used skillfully, it could still unleash tremendous power.
As they wandered along, they came to a bridal shop. Yi Yan stopped in her tracks when she saw a pure-white, off-the-shoulder wedding gown with a long train displayed in the window.
Whenever Su Wei came here, he always used a shapeshifting spell to take on a different appearance, yet the other party could always recognize him with perfect accuracy.
While the two of them were eating grilled fish, Xia Fanxing and Qin Shisan rushed to the mouth of the cave and fired wildly at the newcomers with their guns.
The sight was truly painful to look at. Both Yi Yan and Zi Meier flushed and hurriedly turned their heads away.
Meanwhile, Feng Huoyu was thinking that she was only at the second level of Qi Refining. Her cultivation was still too low. The lower one’s level, the slower the training.
He threw the half-smoked cigarette onto the ground, crushed it viciously beneath his foot, and turned back toward the training room.
As mentioned earlier, Xiang Jie’s father-in-law had once been Zhu Yusen’s superior. It could be said that Zhu Yusen owed much of his success to that old leader. He therefore had to take care of Xiang Jie’s affairs, if only to repay the favor of having been promoted.

After the clan competition ended, Wang Xiao once again took Wang Tian to the rear mountain of the Wang family estate and subjected him to brutal intensive training. Wang Tian chose to accept it. To receive guidance from someone who surpassed an Innate martial artist was an enormous boost to his strength.
Su Huiyan smiled faintly. “All right, I’ll stop teasing you. You should make your preparations soon.” With that, she hung up.
The moment Hong Xiu thought of the uncertainty surrounding her young master’s safety, the entire sky outside seemed to darken. She hurriedly lifted the carriage curtain and poked her head out to look around.
“We’ll go together!” Song Ziyang nodded, thereby delivering the final verdict on Chen Fei’s fate.
That was why Hong Youhe could no longer sit still. After receiving a scolding call from Jian Suidang, she immediately summoned Lu Shengde and questioned him in detail about Su Xicheng’s investment. Lu Shengde repeated everything exactly as it had happened, and Hong Youhe’s brows furrowed deeply.
This situation had arisen because only half a semester had passed, so the gap between everyone was still not very large. To widen the differences in scores, they would probably have to wait until the final examinations.
After listening for a while, Song Ziyang had no choice but to hurry to the principal’s office. When he met the several elders there, he sensed something strangely familiar about them.
Only after Huang Yan had explained everything to him in painstaking detail did the old man rise hurriedly, intending to return at once and conduct a thorough study.
Gao Ping was hiding quietly behind a large tree, preparing to deliver a fatal strike when the four spirits drew near.
He continued taking stock of the treasures on his person, then suddenly remembered that the blood and spiritual essence of the Black Sea False Dragon could enhance the power of talismans.
Yet in the very next moment, Yamamura Misao’s performance completely dispelled the faint hope Zong Takuya had just felt.
Even if the Grand Empress Dowager truly disliked the Empress Dowager, there was no reason for her to make it so obvious in public. It was so blatant that even he, an official from outside the inner court, could see it.
