Hearing this, Liu Jinshui’s expression darkened. “Elder, are you saying there are beings here even stronger than Spirit-Rank beasts?”
Elder Yuming said proudly, “Ha-ha! Have you ever heard of the Forest of Miracles? This is it. Back then, I nearly died trying to obtain it. Do you know why?”
Liu Jinshui shook his head. “I don’t.”
“Because there is a Jade-Rank Beast King here, and its strength is not much weaker than mine. I hope he has good luck. Ha-ha-ha-ha.”
With that, he turned and left, leaving Liu Jinshui standing there in shock.
At that very moment, deep within the forest, Ye Chen discovered a cave and walked inside...
“Boom!”
Just then, a deafening roar rang out as a huge black figure charged through the cave entrance. It barreled toward Ye Chen with overwhelming force.
Ye Chen’s expression changed. With no time to dodge, he instinctively threw a punch at the oncoming monster.
“Bang!”
The instant his fist made contact, Ye Chen inwardly cried out that something was wrong. A tremendous force surged through him. With a muffled groan, his body was sent flying backward and slammed directly into the wall.
Pain—terrible pain. That was all Ye Chen could feel. Every bone in his body seemed ready to break apart. At the same time, he secretly congratulated himself that he had cultivated the Bone Gold Art. If he had not practiced the Bone Gold Art and tempered his body with sword intent, he might already have been shattered.
“So strong!”
Feeling the pain in his right arm, Ye Chen’s expression grew solemn.
With a thought, Ye Chen leaped out of the wall. This time, the enormous creature did not charge again, allowing him to see clearly what kind of spirit beast it was.
Before him stood a black demon wolf!
The black demon wolf was three times his size, standing roughly three meters tall. In front of this gigantic beast, Ye Chen looked like a baby beside an adult. Aside from its massive body, the wolf’s most striking features were its four enormous claws and the two fangs protruding from its mouth.
Each of the black wolf’s claws was as long as an arm, radiating a chilling glint. Whenever its foreclaws scraped across the ground, several deep cracks appeared. Its two fangs were nearly fifteen inches long, slightly curved like sickles harvesting human lives, sending a shiver down the spine.
“An Emperor Beast!”
After glancing around, Ye Chen understood why the black wolf had suddenly attacked him. It was clearly the master of this cave, and his abrupt intrusion was nothing less than a provocation in the world of spirit beasts!
Ye Chen took a deep breath and moved his limbs. Immediately, the joints throughout his body cracked and popped.

“Perfect for warming up. Let’s see how strong I really am.”
The black wolf glared at Ye Chen with murderous eyes, furiously scraping the ground with its claws. Enraged by the human who dared challenge its dignity, it threw back its head and let out a furious howl. Then it lunged forward, transforming into a black blur as it slammed toward Ye Chen.
Seeing the black wolf charge, Ye Chen narrowed his eyes. His rear foot carved a deep groove into the ground like an iron plow. He lowered his body into a half-crouch, extended his right hand, clenched it into a fist, and drew it back. His left hand slowly tightened as well, while threads of green light flickered around his right fist. There was not a trace of fear in his expression.
When the black wolf was only a few inches away, Ye Chen shouted angrily and suddenly drove his right fist toward the rapidly enlarging figure before him!
“Boom!”
Man and wolf collided head-on without the slightest flourish. The immense force sent Ye Chen skidding rapidly backward, both feet scraping across the ground and carving a trench several meters long. At last, he crashed heavily into the wall, causing the entire cave to tremble.
The black wolf, however, had only taken a few steps back.
Seeing that his blow had forced the black wolf to retreat, Ye Chen felt pain throughout his body, but joy rose in his heart. This black wolf was not invincible after all!
With that thought, Ye Chen shook out his fist. He looked toward the distant black wolf, raised his thumb, then turned it downward. He extended his index finger and beckoned provocatively.
“You—come here!”
“Awoooo!”
At this level, the black wolf possessed intelligence, though it could not assume human form. Seeing Ye Chen make such a provocative gesture, it became furious.
It threw back its head and roared. Then it leaped into the air, cold light flashing across its claws as it descended from above and viciously raked them toward Ye Chen.
As the black wolf pounced, Ye Chen narrowed his eyes and lowered himself into a half-crouch, both hands clenched into fists. When the beast closed in, he shouted angrily and thrust both fists forward!
“Boom!”
The two sides collided. Excruciating pain shot through Ye Chen’s fists, and he let out a muffled groan as blood spurted from his mouth.
The black wolf was also sent flying. Yet in the very next moment, it howled, made another great leap, and pounced toward Ye Chen once more.
Seeing it rush at him again, Ye Chen’s pupils contracted. He forced down the surging blood in his chest, stamped his right foot against the ground, and used the returning force to launch himself forward. His right fist tore through the air as it smashed toward the black wolf’s head.
“Boom!”
Man and wolf collided again. This time, however, the black wolf was not sent flying. Instead, it seized Ye Chen’s fist firmly in its claws, then drove its two long fangs toward his head...
Seeing both his fists restrained while the fangs stabbed toward him, Ye Chen was horrified. Without a moment’s hesitation, he kicked the black wolf in the lower abdomen.
“Boom!”

Struck in the abdomen, the black wolf let out a mournful howl, and its claws immediately released Ye Chen’s hands. Ye Chen froze for an instant—but in that brief moment of distraction, the black wolf’s claws viciously raked across his chest.
Ye Chen felt as though he had been struck by a mountain. His body flew backward several meters before slamming into the wall once more with a heavy crash.
“Cough! Cough! Cough!”
Ye Chen struggled to his feet, his head spinning. At that moment, a pair of sharp claws seemed to pierce through space and struck him brutally in the chest again. In an instant, those claws rained down like a violent storm, slashing repeatedly across Ye Chen’s chest, face, and head!
The attack was tremendously powerful. Even with his formidable defenses, Ye Chen was cut open in one place after another. Helpless, he hurried toward the cave entrance...
Before he could escape—
“Boom!”
The black wolf slammed its head into Ye Chen’s abdomen. With a thunderous crash, Ye Chen’s body skidded backward across the ground before smashing into the wall. With a rumble, countless stones fell and buried him beneath the rubble.
The black wolf naturally had no intention of letting Ye Chen go. Just as it was about to swallow him, another wolf howl suddenly came from outside the cave.
Upon hearing it, the black wolf’s expression changed. Without the slightest hesitation, it turned and ran out of the cave.
The moment the black wolf disappeared, Ye Chen crawled out from beneath the stones. His consciousness was hazy, and his head was still spinning. All he could feel was pain—unbearable pain that penetrated to the marrow. If not for his astonishing willpower, he would likely have already passed out from it.
After a moment, Ye Chen’s mind finally cleared somewhat. When he saw that the black wolf was gone, the first thing he did was run.
After leaving the black wolf’s cave, Ye Chen found a luxuriant tree and sat cross-legged atop it. He lowered his head to examine his condition, and the sight immediately made him suck in a cold breath.
His clothes were already in tatters. His body was covered in countless bloody wounds, crisscrossing in irregular patterns. Combined with the blood that had yet to dry, the sight was truly horrifying.
“Looks like I underestimated my opponent this time.” Ye Chen shook his head with a bitter smile.
After killing the Spirit-Rank Withered Silk Serpent, he had assumed that a spirit beast one rank higher would not be much of a threat. Reality had taught him otherwise. Emperor Beasts were far stronger than Spirit-Rank beasts.
Before long, most of the wounds on Ye Chen’s body had healed.
“Thank goodness I have the Cosmic Divine Tree!” Ye Chen exclaimed with a sigh.
“I really was incredible back then. Heh-heh.”
Afterward, Ye Chen found a sharp stone and walked back toward the cave...
