Chapter 39: The Style of Team Zhongzhou Is Beyond Saving
Then, there was the matter of the team battle.
If they were only facing the India team as encountered in the original *The Mummy*, then even if Wu Xian refrained from intervening entirely, they would not need a Tier-0 mastermind like Chu Xuan to coordinate the deployment. Given the current combat strength of the China team, they could likely secure a victory simply by charging in head-on. Not to mention that the team was about to undergo a comprehensive round of enhancements and upgrades; it was entirely possible they could wipe out the entire India team.
However, the "God" had announced that this would be a three-way team battle, with the unexpected inclusion of the West Sea team. As the two teams arriving earlier, the India and West Sea teams might forge a temporary alliance to counter the more formidable China team, introducing a layer of unpredictable variables.
*Right, speaking of which, who exactly was in the West Sea team in the original story...*
Wu Xian frowned, searching his memory for a moment before finding the answer.
"I see, so they are that 'farming' team..."
The West Sea team first appeared in *Independence Day* in the original *Infinite Terror*. They were a classic farming team, with only two real powerhouses; everyone else was merely "livestock" kept to provide the two main members with reward points. Of these two, one was the captain, Reinhardt, a white man with extreme racial prejudices. In his memory, this man had been replicated into the Devil team, serving as the captain before the Devil Zheng Zha, and had participated in the persecution and humiliation of the clone Luo Li, only to be killed by the Devil Zheng Zha in a later battle as an act of revenge. Incidentally, he was one of the primary reasons the Vampire lineage was considered the "Son of the Version" in the first generation. His original self had reached the rank of a double-A Vampire Prince; although his gene lock was only at the third stage, his combat power was formidable enough to contend with those at the early fourth stage.
As for the other "farmer" of the West Sea team, he was a psychic controller named Julian. Like Reinhardt, he had only unlocked the third stage of his gene locks, but because he had cultivated the Saint Seiya system—specifically reaching the level of a Gold Saint of Virgo—he had prematurely attained the "Alaya-vijnana," a form of spiritual light, allowing him to bypass standard progression and wield power comparable to the mid-fourth stage. Furthermore, he had spent a massive amount of reward points to exchange for an S-rank defensive item—"Avalon"—which, when powered by his pseudo-spiritual light, would force even a true mid-fourth stage expert to sigh in frustration against such an impenetrable shell.
Of course, while the above sounds intimidating, that was late-game content; the current West Sea team, or rather those two farmers, could not possibly be that strong yet. At most, Reinhardt was likely just an A-rank Vampire Marquis with a second-stage gene lock, Julian could not have yet mastered the Alaya-vijnana, and "Avalon" was probably far beyond their reach in terms of cost.
"If that’s the case, it’s not unwinnable... If I catch them by surprise, I should be able to take those two out myself, while the enhanced China team handles the India team."
"The only problem is that these two teams will descend earlier and gain the initiative... Come to think of it, what if the China team gets hit by a nuclear warhead point-blank the moment they arrive? That would be a real 'Showa era man's' suicide mission!"
Wu Xian muttered to himself, while the restorative light beams began to shift. As previously mentioned, Zheng Zha, Mou Gang, and Li Xiaoyi had suffered no serious injuries thanks to their Vibranium armor, and they descended from the beams after about ten minutes. Immediately, just like Zhang Jie and Zheng Zha in the original, they began making out with their created partners in broad daylight before rushing back into their private rooms—clearly in the mood for "another kind of battle."
A moment later, Zero and Chu Xuan descended as well. Earlier, while following Wu Xian to grind monsters, Zero had learned about the "creation" system and the fact that God would force these creations into horror movies, requiring a D-rank side quest to redeem them. Wu Xian believed that as the "most reliable man" in the original story, Zero would not be as emotional as Zheng Zha, or at least would not be so eager to use his creation privileges. Because of this, Wu Xian had not guided him much, believing he would make a decision consistent with his character.
Then... Wu Xian watched as Zero spent a few minutes in silent contemplation beneath the giant sphere of light, until a young girl with an androgynous appearance materialized in the main hall. Without a doubt, this girl was the younger sister Zero had remembered—the one who was supposed to be his "brother."
Wu Xian: (눈_눈)
"As expected, the style of the China team is beyond saving. I shouldn't have had any expectations."
Watching Zero, the cold, stoic, and ascetic man, gently lead the little girl back to his room, Wu Xian felt as if a thousand black lines were crawling across his forehead.
The most reliable man in the China team? This!
Bah! Another shameless lolicon!
It’s really enough. Living with a group of people whose heads are filled with such lewd thoughts, how am I supposed to lead the China team properly? When will we ever be able to crush the Heaven team, stomp the Devil team, and dominate the entire God's space!
Thinking of this, Wu Xian sighed deeply, feeling a bleak future ahead. His gaze then drifted to Chu Xuan, who was still looking up at the giant sphere of light, and the corner of his mouth twitched involuntarily.
Fine, there was one person here without worldly desires, but he was *too* devoid of them, which made Wu Xian even more worried. He feared that, just like in the original, the man would "accidentally" play a solo game in the next horror movie and then trade the "greatest brain in the God's space" for a few reward points, handing them over to the other two teams. If the masterminds of the other teams, especially Adam of the Heaven team, found out, they would surely laugh themselves to death.
Of course, such a thing would not happen. Not only would Wu Xian prevent it, but Chu Xuan himself would never commit such an "intellectually dead" act while knowing a team battle was imminent... well, although the original situation was already quite "intellectually dead," considering he did it to study the script, it was not entirely incomprehensible (laughs).
*Hum—*
Just then, a strange ripple suddenly surged through the main hall, catching the attention of Wu Xian, Chu Xuan, and Zhan Lan, who was still in the healing beam.
Immediately afterward, before their eyes—some knowing, some calm, some surprised—a massive golden stele appeared out of thin air.
