Chapter 28: Combined, You Are Not Even Worth a Single Hand of Mine

Viajando em Paralelo: Começando pelo Retorno ao Espaço do Senhor Supremo O espírito se espalha por todo o universo. 2912 words 2026-08-04 07:48:01

It stood nearly three meters tall, stretching nearly five meters from head to tail. Its body, black as ink, shimmered under the lights with a cold, metallic luster. The contours of its frame—perfect yet grotesque—embodied a beauty born of chaos and raw power.

Its head, shaped like a long, flattened mushroom, lacked any recognizable facial features, yet it possessed a hideous orifice filled with sharp, jagged teeth. Below this, two long, spindly claws—entirely disproportionate to the rest of its body—were stained with fresh, shredded meat.

Finally, there was the tail, like a long spear, which had pierced the chest of one of the thugs. It swung the man back and forth in mid-air as if he were nothing more than a toy, a sight so horrifying that the other two thugs didn't even realize they had wet themselves in terror.

"BOOM!"

Unexpectedly, the first to act was neither Wu Xian nor Zhan Lan, who had already mastered telekinesis, but the assassin Zero, who had barely spoken a word until now.

A flash of fire erupted. A 12.7mm bullet burst from the muzzle of the Barrett, hurtling toward the Alien’s head at a speed invisible to the naked eye.

Perhaps due to its razor-sharp combat instincts, at the very moment the bullet was about to impact, the Alien shifted aside as if by some divine intervention. It narrowly avoided having its head blown into pulp, but the cost was the total destruction of its left arm.

"ROAR—!"

With a piercing shriek, the Alien angrily tossed the thug impaled on its tail aside. It then lunged forward, raising its remaining claw, intent on cruelly slaughtering the insect that had dared to wound it.

Unfortunately for the creature, Zhan Lan had already reacted. She unleashed her invisible telekinetic force, catching the thug’s corpse and redirecting it to slam violently into the Alien’s face.

While the creature was stunned, she immediately pulled the trigger of her Gauss pistol.

High-intensity bullets, trailing blue electrical arcs like laser beams, struck the corpse and the Alien in rapid succession, reducing them both to a pile of mangled flesh in the blink of an eye.

In an instant, blood mixed with a yellow-green, acid-like fluid splattered everywhere, landing on the surrounding metal walls and floor with a sizzling sound and releasing a pungent, foul-smelling gas.

*Bang.* A noise came from behind. A ventilation shaft had been violently torn open, and a slightly smaller Alien crawled out, inching along the ceiling toward them.

Zero turned quickly, aiming his Barrett at the Alien, but he did not fire immediately. Zhan Lan also held her position, her eyes fixed coldly on the deeper recesses of the corridor.

It wasn't just because of Friday's warning; as a telepath, she could "see" an even greater threat lurking there.

Sure enough, a few seconds later, the sound of steel grinding against steel echoed from the darkness. Two more Aliens emerged.

Besieged from both front and back, even if they perfectly replicated their previous maneuver, they could kill at most one Alien instantly. In that process, the other two would never just stand by; they would undoubtedly launch a vicious, lethal assault.

"Do you not intend to make a move yet?" Chu Xuan adjusted his glasses, looking at Wu Xian, who had been watching coldly from the sidelines. He spoke in his usual calm tone: "Judging by how that man addressed you, you must be the leader of Team China. I imagine your strength is among the best in the group."

"If you don't have a way to deal with two Aliens at once, I suggest using these two worthless individuals as bait to create an opening for an attack."

As soon as these words were spoken, the two thugs who had wet their pants froze. They soon realized that the "two worthless individuals" referred to them, and they glared at Chu Xuan, wishing they could tear his mouth apart.

"First of all, the Lord God has regulations: reincarnators cannot kill each other, or reward points will be deducted. So, as long as they don't commit any unforgivable acts during the mission, I generally don't actively take their lives."

As he spoke, Wu Xian used his mental power to suppress the two thugs who were about to snap, then gave Chu Xuan a lopsided grin: "Secondly, you seem to have made a mistake."

"What?" Chu Xuan retorted, a flash of white light crossing his clear-lens glasses.

"My strength isn't 'among the best' in Team China... It’s that everyone else in Team China combined isn't enough for me to handle with one hand."

With that, Wu Xian snapped his fingers.

In an instant, countless silver lights appeared out of thin air around him. Looking closely, one could see they were miniature blades, each the length of a finger. Under the control of an invisible force, they danced wantonly through the corridor.

Identical low roars echoed one after another. The three Aliens, which had been searching for an opening, froze the moment the blade storm appeared. As if they had encountered a natural predator, they turned and fled in a panic.

The one crawling on the ceiling scrambled like a gecko, making the scene suddenly appear comical.

Unfortunately, they were too slow. Following the trajectory of three streaks of silver light, the sound of heavy objects falling echoed simultaneously from the hidden darkness.

...

The notification sound of the Lord God’s kill rewards rang in his ears, and Wu Xian couldn't help but squint, a faint smile appearing on his face.

Regardless of whether the next film was a team battle in "The Grudge," this feeling of farming points so wantonly was truly gratifying.

According to Friday, there were at least 50 more Aliens on this ship. Even if he split them evenly with Zheng Zha and the others, he would still net at least 5,000 reward points.

To Wu Xian, this was just the effort of waving his hand a few more times—essentially getting something for nothing.

"No, this is too generous. Could there be a trap?"

It wasn't that Wu Xian enjoyed overthinking, but the Lord God's setup was just like that. In principle, the Lord God wouldn't force reincarnators into a mandatory death mission, but that didn't mean it wouldn't create trouble along the way.

Even in a "farming" scenario, it was impossible to just lie back and collect rewards, especially given the high rating of the previous horror film.

"Captain! Captain!"

At that moment, Zheng Zha’s voice came through the team voice channel via Friday.

Wu Xian felt a start, wondering if the Lord God had begun to act, but he kept his tone steady: "What's going on? Are you in trouble?"

"Not really. We ran into two Aliens, but with the three of us working together, we took them down quickly."

In another corridor, Zheng Zha pulled his heavy metal axe out of an Alien's skull. He sounded quite smug, then glanced at the Mediterranean-man in the cabin next to him, who now only had half a body, and whispered:

"But I found an android here, likely the one from the movie. I spoke to him for a bit, and the Lord God notified me that a side quest was triggered: we need to uncover the truth behind the mutation on this ship."

"Oh! You've already found a side quest?" Wu Xian raised an eyebrow and checked his Lord God watch. Sure enough, it displayed a new piece of information.

[Side Quest: Find the cause of the mutation on the Nostromo. Reward: One C-rank side quest, 1,500 reward points.]

"Very good, well done. Two hours of extra training when we get back as your reward."

Ignoring the gloomy expression on Zheng Zha’s face on the other end of the line, the expression on Wu Xian’s face turned exceptionally serious.

Just as he suspected, there was definitely something wrong with this ship!

Thinking of this, Wu Xian waved his hand. The three silver blade storms returned from the distance and, under his mental control, merged into a silver-white staff about two meters long and five centimeters in diameter—the form of the Huntian Yan.

"Let's go."

Swinging the staff casually, Wu Xian hoisted it onto his shoulder and told the others: "Pay attention. I’m going to pick up the pace now. I won't wait for anyone who can't keep up."
