Golden sunlight streamed through the gap in the curtains and fell across Zheng Zha’s face. Feeling its warm touch, he opened his sleepy eyes and stared at the unfamiliar ceiling, sinking into deep bewilderment.

After quite some time, his mind began to stir, and the scenes from the previous day flashed rapidly through his thoughts.

The options on the computer screen, the horror-movie world, Resident Evil, the Lickers... It all felt like a dream—so unreal.

Even now, Zheng Zha still wondered whether he had merely experienced an absurdly horrific nightmare. Once he awoke from it, would he become that walking corpse once again, living in numbness amid decay and ruin?

“Knock, knock, knock—”

The sound of knocking interrupted his train of thought. Zheng Zha abruptly sat up in bed and realized that his surroundings were not quite as unfamiliar as he had first thought. They seemed to be somewhere he had seen before.

Then he remembered. This was the arrangement of the bedroom in his childhood home, the place where he and she had shared countless beautiful memories. When he had imagined the room earlier, this scene had unconsciously appeared in his mind.

“Luo Li...”

Zheng Zha murmured the name that haunted his dreams. Just then, the knocking came again, making him somewhat irritated. Yet when he remembered his current circumstances, he could only suppress the inexplicable anger and leave the room.

“You certainly know how to sleep. It’s been almost twelve hours since yesterday!”

Lan looked at Zheng Zha, who had clearly only just awakened, and lightly teased him. She then pointed toward the platform hall and said with a smile, “Come on, let’s have breakfast first. You’re the only one missing.”

Zheng Zha followed the direction of Lan’s finger and, sure enough, saw Wu Xian, Li Xiaoyi, and Mou Gang.

Moreover, the platform hall looked completely different from the day before. It was no longer a bare expanse of white without any decoration. Now it contained sofas, coffee tables, a dining table, and other furnishings.

In particular, the enormous screen—nearly the size of a home theater—occupied almost his entire field of vision. Playing on it were scenes from Resident Evil.

As he watched Matthew being shredded by the laser grid, Zheng Zha’s expression grew faintly dazed. By the time he came back to himself, he was already standing beside a round dining table.

Li Xiaoyi and Mou Gang looked over and politely greeted him. Wu Xian also gave a slight nod before saying calmly, “Don’t just stand there. Fill your stomach first. We’ll discuss the important matters afterward.”

“Ah... oh, right!”

At once, Zheng Zha responded. He pulled out an empty chair and sat down, then turned his gaze toward the plates covering the table. When he saw what they contained, his expression became awkward.

Breakfast was lavish, with more than a dozen plates. Yet aside from milk, soy milk, fried dough sticks, and steamed buns, most of the dishes involved eggs.

There were fried eggs, boiled eggs, tea eggs, egg-fried rice, egg fried rice cakes, egg pancakes, steamed egg custard, egg salad, egg tarts... It was practically an illustration of “eighteen ways to murder an egg.” Even Zheng Zha, who prided himself on having seen almost everything, had never encountered such an ingenious breakfast feast.

“Ahem!”

Lan coughed twice, her expression slightly embarrassed. “Sorry. I’ve never really learned how to cook, so please make do for now. If I have time later, I’ll study it properly.”

“So why didn’t you just exchange for a table of food directly from the Lord God? Why insist on cooking it yourself?”

Wu Xian was speechless as well. The eggs did taste fairly good, but what if eating this many eggs in one meal caused their cholesterol to rise in the future?

What? The Lord God could cure that? In that case, never mind!

“It’s different. This is our Central Continent Team’s first group meal, so it should at least be somewhat formal.”

Lan smiled, peeled a tea egg herself, and placed it in front of Wu Xian.

“I haven’t formally congratulated you on becoming captain yet. And thank you for your help yesterday. If not for you, none of us knows how many times we would have died. Here’s a humble tea egg in your honor. I hope you like it.”

Hearing this, Li Xiaoyi and Mou Gang quickly caught on and followed her example. Even Zheng Zha ladled himself a bowl of egg-fried rice, as though declaring that everything he wanted to say was contained in the eggs. No more words—time to eat!

Wu Xian rolled his eyes, picked up the tea egg, and took a bite. He then said indistinctly, “All right, I understand your sincerity. But don’t keep calling me captain. It feels awkward. Just call me Wu Xian or Little Wu. From now on, we’re partners who support one another, so there’s no need to be so formal.”

“Understood, Cap... Wu Xian. You’re right. From today onward, we’re companions!”

For some reason, when Zheng Zha heard the word “companions,” something seemed to stir within his numb heart. A bright, easygoing smile appeared on his face.

“All right, dig in. Once you’ve eaten your fill, I’ll teach you how to make exchanges with the Lord God, along with some things you must know and keep in mind.”

Everyone’s expressions instantly turned serious as they began attacking the egg feast before them. From time to time, their eyes flicked toward the zombies on the television, as though using them to accompany their meal.

About twenty minutes later, the various eggs on the table had been swept away in a frenzy, leaving the plates cleaner than if dogs had licked them.

Clearly, no matter how much they complained, delicious food was still delicious food.

After all, the eggs and seasonings came from the Lord God’s dimension. As long as one’s cooking skills were not truly terrible, they could produce something comparable to the cuisine of a luxury hotel.

Mou Gang volunteered to wash the dishes, but Wu Xian stopped him. With a snap of his fingers, the once-chaotic table instantly became spotless again. The magical sight left everyone’s eyes shining with wonder.

“There’s no need to be envious. Just as I told you in Resident Evil, you can have anything here. You can exchange for anything you want, including services. Naturally, that all depends on whether you have enough reward points.”

Wu Xian looked at them, his expression becoming somewhat more serious.

“Now, tell me what you gained in the horror-movie world. Don’t hide anything. Only by knowing the details can I guide you in using your reward points wisely and achieving the best results.”

“I only have the one thousand basic reward points. Nothing else.”

Although she was a woman, Lan was unexpectedly forthright and was almost always the first to speak.

“Same here.”

“I only have the one thousand basic reward points as well.”

Li Xiaoyi and Mou Gang also indicated that they had the same amount. As soon as they finished speaking, all four of them, Wu Xian included, turned toward the final person with curious expressions.

Zheng Zha scratched his cheek somewhat awkwardly and said in a quiet voice, “Besides the basic one thousand points, I also received two thousand reward points and a Grade C side-story during the laser corridor.”

Damn! Even after I took that opportunity away from him, he still managed to obtain reward points here. Lord God, aren’t you spoiling him a little too much?

The corner of Wu Xian’s mouth twitched. But when he thought of Zheng Zha’s identity as the reincarnation of a fragment of Pangu’s inner universe, he felt somewhat relieved. He then smiled at Zheng Zha.

“Not bad. For a newcomer to gain such rewards in his first horror-movie world is already exceptionally impressive. At least you did better than I did back then. You have a bright future ahead of you.”
