Volume One, Chapter 16: It's Impossible to Sleep with Someone
Wang Residence.
Wang Ruoxi stood in the living room, clutching her bruised face, glaring fiercely at her biological father who had struck her for the second time. "Even if you beat me to death, I still won’t go."
She never imagined that the man who once called her his little princess would sell her off to a foreigner for money.
Wang’s mother looked on with pity, wanting to intervene, but was shot down by Wang Dongliang’s glare.
Wang Dongliang snorted coldly, “This isn’t up to you.”
At his signal, the people nearby approached and pressed a handkerchief over Wang Ruoxi’s mouth and nose, and within moments, she lost consciousness.
In the private room, Fu Yuncheng leaned against the sofa, holding a cigarette between his fingers, sparks flickering as smoke curled lazily around him.
The blonde foreigner beside him raised his glass, “Here’s to a successful collaboration!”
Fu Yuncheng smiled, “To a successful collaboration!”
With the backing of the world’s top-ranking company, his own business was sure to surpass the Fu Group.
The blonde foreigner stood, adjusting his clothes. “I won’t keep you. There’s a girl waiting for me. I’m off…”
Fu Yuncheng nodded.
The spacious private room was soon empty except for him. After a couple more sips of wine, he left.
Just as he stepped out, he saw a man carrying a woman toward the stairwell.
Such scenes no longer surprised him; he had no desire to meddle—other people’s fates were none of his concern.
As they brushed past, he glanced indifferently at the woman, then calmly headed up the stairs.
Wang Ruoxi was awakened by a splash of cold water. The first thing she saw upon opening her eyes was a blonde foreign man.
Terrified, she tried to escape but found herself utterly powerless, lying weakly on the bed.
The blond man caressed her face, speaking broken Chinese, “You’re beautiful. I’ll treat you well.”
Wang Ruoxi shrank away from his touch. The man smiled and shoved a pill into her mouth. “Don’t worry. Soon you’ll feel something.”
Tears streamed down Wang Ruoxi’s cheeks as she looked at him in fear.
Suddenly, the door was kicked open forcefully. The blonde turned around, but before he could react, several men attacked him.
---
One of the men carried Wang Ruoxi away. Her head spun dizzily as she was placed in a car.
She looked at the person beside her, lips trembling, “Brother Yuncheng!”
Fu Yuncheng didn’t respond, only glancing at her before instructing the driver, “Drive.”
Wang Ruoxi leaned weakly against the seat, growing increasingly dizzy and feverish, yet completely lacking strength.
As the car rounded a bend, her body was jolted sideways by inertia.
Fu Yuncheng frowned at her leaning over, expecting her to move away in a moment, but she clung to him motionless.
Realizing something was wrong, he supported her gently. To his surprise, her body was as soft as cotton candy and burning hot.
A flash of understanding crossed his eyes, and he immediately told the driver, “Go to the hospital.”
---
When Wang Ruoxi opened her eyes, it was already the next morning. I looked at her pale face as I opened the breakfast I had just bought. “You’re awake. Have some porridge to warm your stomach.”
Her gaze searched the room. “Fu Yuncheng has left. He called Fu Yunshen and asked me to come see you.”
Upon hearing this, the light in the little girl’s eyes dimmed, but she slowly sat up.
I helped her up and handed over the porridge.
“What happened last night?”
Fu Yuncheng had only called to say that Wang Ruoxi was drugged and in the hospital before abruptly hanging up, leaving the details unclear.
Wang Ruoxi sipped the porridge quietly, tears streaming down as memories of last night flooded her.
Startled, I hurried over to embrace her and gently patted her back. “It’s alright, it’s okay if you don’t want to talk. Let’s not think about it—just drink your porridge.”
“Xiaoyu, do you have Brother Yuncheng’s contact number?” Wang Ruoxi asked softly, blinking.
I shook my head, but Fu Yuncheng had called Fu Yunshen yesterday, so perhaps he had the number. I messaged Fu Yunshen and soon received a string of digits, which I handed to Wang Ruoxi.
Just as she was about to take out her phone to save the number, she remembered she had been forcibly taken away last night and hadn’t brought her phone—it was still at home.
Borrowing paper and pen from a nurse, she wrote down the number and tucked it into her pocket.
After breakfast, Wang Ruoxi looked at me, hesitating several times before speaking.
---
I said bluntly, “If you have something to say, just say it!”
Wang Ruoxi: “Xiaoyu, I want you to come with me home to get my phone.”
I nodded without hesitation, thinking the girl was still frightened by last night’s events.
Together, we arrived at the Wang residence. Compared to the old Fu family mansion, the Wang estate was smaller but still large and luxurious.
In the living room, a middle-aged couple sat on the sofa—presumably Wang Ruoxi’s parents.
Wang Ruoxi glanced around and spotted her phone on the coffee table. Just as she reached for it, a hand snatched it away faster.
“How dare you come back! I only let you stay for one night, yet you ran away and even had someone beat Jack. Do you know who he is? If you just sleep with him for one night, our family’s crisis will be over.”
Wang Dongliang slammed the phone onto the floor, shattering the screen beyond recognition, yet his anger remained unyielding.
I stood there stunned, watching everything unfold. I had thought Wang Ruoxi was drugged by a sinister stranger, never imagining it was her own father.
Wang Ruoxi picked up the broken phone—it held memories of her and Fu Yuncheng.
Wang Dongliang stepped forward, raising a hand to strike her face. I rushed forward, “Stop!”
Seeing me, Wang Dongliang realized there was another witness. His eyes glinted with disdain as he turned his gaze back to Wang Ruoxi. “I told you to make more connections in your circle after you returned. Look at the kind of friends you’ve made—worthless strays.”
Wang Ruoxi froze. This man was nothing like the father she remembered—the one who called her affectionately “Xixi,” bought her favorite candied hawthorns, and took her to amusement parks.
This man only looked at people through tinted lenses, willing to sell her for money, willing to hit her, willing to force her into a marriage for money.
Wang’s mother averted her gaze, “Xixi, apologize to your father. I saw a photo of that foreigner. He’s quite handsome and suits you well.”
Wang Ruoxi stared at her mother. Her mother had always known her thoughts, yet now both her biological parents were forcing her to sleep with a stranger.
She no longer wanted to stay in this family. Exhausted, she said, “Xiaoyu, let’s go.”
Hearing the word “go,” Wang Dongliang objected, his eyes full of calculation. If Wang Ruoxi left, how would he negotiate with others?
“Want to leave? It’s not that easy. I’ve supported you for so many years and spent so much on you. You owe the Wang family. You’re going to apologize to Jack and stay with him one more night.”
Wang Ruoxi’s clear eyes filled with disbelief. Any lingering respect for her father shattered completely. Summoning all her strength, she said, “I will repay the money, but I will never sleep with someone.”
