Fu Yunshen’s face grew darker and darker, his brows furrowed the entire time.

When the presentation ended, I offered him the notes I had compiled and the suggestions I had summarized with both hands. “President Fu, these are my handwritten notes and plan. Please take a look.”

Fu Yunshen accepted them and glanced over the pages. His expression darkened further. Looking up at me, who was clearly waiting for praise, he asked helplessly, “Other than this, didn’t you gain any other insights?”

Other insights?

I shook my head. If I could summarize all that from a few biological education videos, I felt I was already doing remarkably well.

Fu Yunshen lowered his eyes and decided to be blunt. “Did you see the dangers of a man abstaining from sex?”

I nodded like a pecking chick. “I did.”

Fu Yunshen continued, “Did you see the dangers of a man having a reaction but not relieving it?”

I nodded again.

Fu Yunshen: “So are you still going to play around like you did this morning?”

I blinked, suddenly realizing what he meant. Fu Yunshen was educating me so that I would stop dressing so provocatively and tempting him. He could not withstand it, and abstaining was bad for his health.

But… why was he holding himself back? The way he had been that morning certainly did not look like he was incapable.

After thinking it over, I could come up with only one possibility: he did not like me. That was why, even when he reacted, he was unwilling to touch me.

“I understand. I won’t do it again.”

I lowered my head as I replied, my eyes stinging. In an instant, all my strength left me, and I returned to my desk looking utterly dejected.

Seeing me like that, Fu Yunshen fell silent for a moment, as though he wanted to say something but could not. In the end, he said, “I have some work to deal with. You should go home first. I’ll have Fang Yanzhou take you back.”

I did not respond. I kept my head down as I gathered my things, then walked straight out of the office and into the elevator.

The elevator stopped on the sixth floor, and Fang Yanzhou stepped inside. “Sister-in-law, Brother Fu asked me to take you home.”

“Mm. Sorry to trouble you.”

I answered politely.

Sensing that something was wrong with the atmosphere, Fang Yanzhou wisely said nothing more.

After arriving home, I looked at the pile of decorations on the floor and began opening the packages by myself, as though I were nothing more than a soulless shell.

Gradually, as I worked my way through the pile, all the distracting thoughts in my mind faded away.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. I got up to open the door and found Wang Ruoxi standing outside. Today she had changed into a pink, Chanel-style outfit, and she still looked impossibly cute.

“Sister Xiaoyu, I’ve missed you so much!”

The moment she entered, she linked her arm through mine. Her innocent expression made it impossible to dislike her.

“What brings you here?”

“I was bored at home, so I messaged you and asked you to go shopping with me, but you didn’t reply. Then I called you, and you didn’t answer either. I had no choice but to call Brother Yunshen. He said you were at home and that your phone might be on Do Not Disturb, so he told me to come straight here to find you.”

I picked up the phone I had tossed onto the sofa. Sure enough, there were two missed calls and a message from Wang Ruoxi asking me to go shopping. I apologized, “I’m sorry, Ruoxi. I really didn’t see your messages or calls.”

Afraid she might not believe me, I even scrolled up on the screen. Do Not Disturb was indeed turned on.

“It’s all right. I believe you’re not that kind of person, Sister Xiaoyu.”

Wang Ruoxi smiled as she replied. She truly had a wonderful personality. If it had been anyone else, they probably would have harbored at least a little resentment, especially after having to come all the way to my home.

“Sister Xiaoyu, what are all these things?”

Wang Ruoxi pointed at the pile of decorations I had just unpacked.

I answered frankly, “I want to redecorate the house, so I may not be able to go shopping with you.”

“That’s okay! Shopping doesn’t matter. I’ll help you decorate!”

Before I could respond, Wang Ruoxi had already tossed her bag onto the sofa and started picking up the assorted pieces on the floor.

With her help, I worked much faster. She handed me the parts while I installed them.

After two hours, we had finally finished setting up everything I had bought.

Looking at the transformed living room, Wang Ruoxi exclaimed, “Sister Xiaoyu, you’re amazing! The living room used to feel so cold and empty, but now it instantly feels much more welcoming. I’m going to redecorate my home too when I get back.”

Being praised gave me a modest sense of accomplishment. I glanced at the clock on the wall. It was nearly time for dinner, and Ruoxi had helped me a great deal that day, so I ought to keep her for a meal.

“Ruoxi, stay for dinner tonight. You can try my cooking.”

Hearing that I could cook, Wang Ruoxi’s eyes lit up. “Sure!”

I also sent Fu Yunshen a message. “Come home for dinner tonight. Ruoxi is here too.”

His reply came almost immediately.

“All right.”

The doorbell rang, and Wang Ruoxi excitedly went to open the door. But when she looked up and saw a pair of cold, indifferent eyes, she froze, suddenly at a loss.

“Yun… Yunchen, what are you doing here?”

Fu Yunchen looked at the young girl in confusion. “You know me?”

From the moment he entered, the young girl had recognized that he was not Fu Yunshen. Even many people at the old residence could not tell the two brothers apart, yet she had identified him at a glance.

Wang Ruoxi nervously clasped her hands in front of her. She had imagined countless scenes of their reunion, but never one like this.

“My name is Wang Ruoxi.”

“Wang… Ruoxi…”

Fu Yunchen murmured her name, the corners of his lips curling into a smile.

“So you’re Fu Yunshen’s arranged fiancée.”

He did not remember the name Wang Ruoxi. The anticipation that had risen in her heart vanished in an instant, leaving her feeling somewhat hurt. She hurriedly explained, “No, I don’t like Brother Yunshen. I’m not going to marry him.”

How interesting.

“That isn’t up to you. The Wang family would never give up the chance to cling to Fu Yunshen’s influence.”

Fu Yunchen let out a cold snort and looked toward the interior of the house. “Is Lu Xiaoyu not here?”

“Sister Xiaoyu went out to buy groceries. Did you come looking for her?”

Fu Yunchen glanced at the young girl, then walked straight into the house. “I’ll wait for her inside.”

When I returned from buying groceries, the atmosphere in the living room felt strange. I looked at the two people sitting on the sofa and smiled.

“The supermarket was having a sale, so I spent a little longer grabbing things. Go ahead and make yourselves comfortable.”

It took me only a moment to realize that something was wrong. Wang Ruoxi looked as though she had been crying, the corners of her eyes red. And the man beside her… Hadn’t Fu Yunshen been wearing a black suit when he left? Why was it gray now?

Our eyes met across the room, and I cried out in shock, “Fu Yunchen? What are you doing here?”

Once I recognized him, I was so startled that I dropped the groceries in my hands and hurried to Wang Ruoxi’s side. The girl’s eyes were swollen, and it was obvious she had been bullied.

“Fu Yunchen, are you even a man? How could you bully a young girl?”

She had been holding back until I arrived. Now, she flung her arms around me and burst into tears. Such a lovely little face was now streaked with tears.

Fu Yunchen sat to one side, watching Wang Ruoxi cry as though she were about to lose her breath. His face was filled with bewilderment. He had done absolutely nothing, yet he had somehow ended up being scolded.

“Which of your eyes saw me bully her?”

I replied, “If you didn’t bully her, then why is she crying?”

Fu Yunchen: “???”

“Miss Wang, tell her yourself. Did I bully you or not?”

The moment Fu Yunchen finished speaking, the girl in my arms began crying even harder.

Fu Yunchen: “???”
