Volume 1, Chapter 24: What You Believe Is the Answer
Faced with Lin Qinyan’s questioning, Lin Qingwu found it laughable.
She mirrored his own words back to him: "What exactly are you feeling aggrieved about?"
The three of them calmed down; the couple and the two sisters sat in the pavilion, chatting and laughing over tea.
By now, relying on his high proficiency, the Molten Gold True Fire technique, and the secret formula for X-radiation stones, he could well be considered an alchemy master within the settlement.
Zhuo Yinan managed to force a smile, but it was clear that her words lacked any real conviction.
"Your Majesty, General Qin is still by your side. Even if he were to break into the Lizheng Palace, he would not be able to harm a hair on your head!" the leader of the imperial guards looked up, staring straight at Li Shimin as he spoke indignantly.
A thousand thoughts raced through Xiao Heyun’s mind, yet his expression remained unchanged. He turned and continued his stroll through the streets.
A look of relief appeared beneath Albert Howell’s greying beard; he held the knight commander in high regard, feeling not only trust but genuine admiration for him.
Consequently, when the imperial physician sent by Li Shimin arrived to treat the old matriarch, the members of the Cao household did not offer him a single welcoming look.
Seeing so many people emerge at once, and observing that each one looked formidable, Su Yiyi could not help but feel a growing sense of trepidation.
Thinking of this, Liang Chen shook his head helplessly, casting the thought aside for the moment. His priority now was to gain a deep understanding of the entire grand formation; otherwise, how could he even begin to speak of a way to break it?
Hearing the commotion, Wan Yingjie poked his head out from the courtyard entrance, only to see An'an charging toward him aggressively. He immediately ducked back and retreated.
"Let’s not talk about anything unpleasant. Our mission tonight is just to have a blast. It’s been months since graduation, and today is a day to celebrate!" Big Fatty declared grandly.
Yang Jiahua was thrilled. If he remembered correctly, this was the first time Qian Qiyue had initiated an invitation since they began their relationship—how could he possibly refuse? He agreed immediately, and Qian Qiyue arched an eyebrow, offering a faint smile.
"Uncle Lei saw you that day and told my grandfather you were my boyfriend, so he insists on meeting you. Are you going or not?" Luo Qianqian said, sounding irritated.
Han Siyou deliberately cast a glance at her chest; although she was quite well-endowed, she could never quite achieve that specific effect.
Watching the bewildered expression on Yang Chen’s face, he laughed heartily, stamping his feet a few times to ease his emotions.
"If you know it’s cold, why are you dressed so thinly?" Li Zixiao shook his head helplessly and draped his jacket over her shoulders.
It seemed as though the day’s events had exhausted Ye Shaoxuan to the point where he lacked the energy to even feign gratitude.
It looked impressive, but it still could not rival this battle sword. Ye Shaoxuan fought while retreating, unleashing wave after wave of Imperial Slash sword qi, yet he failed to inflict even the slightest damage on the blade.
The East Courtyard was Ye Zhen’s residence. Ye Meng frowned and shouted, "Impossible! How could Zhenzhen lash out at Jiaoniang? You charlatan, do not spread rumors here!" Ye Meng had never believed in these crooked ways, but out of respect for Feng Jiao, he had tolerated the man’s speech until now. The man had a lot of nerve, daring to slander Ye Zhen as a harbinger of misfortune.
Yang Jiahua did not know what had happened; his mind was in a state of paralysis. Yet, he understood one thing clearly: Qian Qiyue did not want to see him at that moment. He sighed, blaming himself for being too impatient. Standing frozen at the door for a long time, Yang Jiahua eventually turned and left. He did not know that the lights inside the room remained burning brightly all night long.
"Praise the God of Light, I thank you for your mercy. Please, follow me with your attendants." The waiter scrambled up from the ground, exhaling a breath of relief; knowing his life was spared, he wiped the sweat from his face, his speech becoming fluent once more.
