Chapter 18: The Shrew Comes Calling
Her face must not be disfigured—she still needed to rely on her looks to seduce wealthy men!
Su Jinyu delivered a fierce kick to her face, unfortunately landing right on her prominent nose.
Qin Wan’er felt as if her nose had been crushed by the blow; she gritted her teeth in hatred.
“Kneel down and apologize to Yiyi. Confess honestly how you managed to deceive and seduce someone else’s husband.”
Su Jinyu pressed down on Qin Wan’er’s shoulders, forcing her to kneel before Shi Yi, then took out her phone to record a video.
Qin Wan’er began her insincere confession, admitting everything from college days—how she secretly seduced Chu Yifan behind Shi Yi’s back and even pretended to fall down the stairs to frame Shi Yi.

After recording the video, Su Jinyu snapped a photo of Qin Wan’er and warned, “If you dare to scheme behind Yiyi’s back and slander her again, I’ll post this video and photo on Weibo so everyone can see the ugly truth behind your façade.”
Terrified, Qin Wan’er shook her head vigorously. “No, I won’t dare again.”
Shi Yi, seeing the matter settled, coldly ordered, “Get out!”
Qin Wan’er scrambled up, clutching her crushed nose in agony, and fled in disgrace.
She hurried to the bathroom and stared at her reflection. The pain was unbearable; Su Jinyu’s strike was ruthless, and she blamed that wretched Shi Yi.
Tears streamed down her face as she cursed Shi Yi a thousand times over in her heart.
She placed a hand on her slightly swollen abdomen; the unborn child was still there. She had always prided herself on her beauty, but now her face was so badly damaged. She had intended to use Shi Yi to abort the child and then, relying on her looks, latch onto another wealthy man.
Qin Wan’er gingerly touched her nose, which had cost tens of thousands to shape, wincing in pain as if she might ascend to heaven, then broke down crying bitterly. “Shi Yi, you vile woman, I won’t forgive you...”
She gripped her phone tightly, nearly deforming it in her grasp.
...
Meanwhile, after driving Qin Wan’er away, Su Jinyu stayed to chat with Shi Yi.
She smiled at Shi Yi and said, “I’ve wanted to deal with that shameless woman for a long time. It’s crazy you considered her your best friend—she was secretly messing with your husband. It really is true: beware of fire, thieves, and so-called best friends. Yiyi, you have to be more discerning about who you befriend. You can’t trust trash like her.”
Shi Yi looked down at her hands in splints and smiled faintly. “Indeed, I can’t.”
“Don’t mention it! We’re like family. Next time that trash comes looking for trouble, just call me. I’m terrible at everything else, but fighting? I’m like three people in one,” Su Jinyu chuckled.
“Okay.” Shi Yi frowned slightly, then suddenly said, “I’ve already divorced that scumbag Chu Yifan.”
“What?” Su Jinyu was surprised and quickly comforted her, “Yiyi, don’t be sad. Out with the old, in with the new. Tonight, your girls will take you out to find some handsome guys—good-looking and obedient. I guarantee they’re a hundred times better than that Chu scumbag.”
Shi Yi rolled her eyes. “I’m not going.”
Su Jinyu hooked her arm around Shi Yi’s neck. “Come on, I’ll show you why I’m single and don’t want to get married. There are thousands of handsome guys out there; why hang yourself on just one tree?”
Shi Yi turned her head away and said lightly, “You really have an open mind.”
“Dr. Su, someone’s here for you.”
Someone called out Su Jinyu’s name at the door. Su Jinyu patted Shi Yi’s head and said nervously, “I’ll come find you after work and take you out.”
“No, I can’t. My hands are injured,” Shi Yi replied.
Su Jinyu tilted Shi Yi’s chin up with a mischievous smile. “You don’t have to do anything yourself—just find a handsome guy to wait on you.”
Shi Yi was speechless, her impression of Su Jinyu plummeting. Was the world really this open-minded nowadays?
Shortly after Su Jinyu left—
Bang—
The hospital room door was kicked open from outside.
Song Yashi, her left hand in a cast, stormed in, glaring at Shi Yi and gritting her teeth, “You wretched woman, how could you be so heartless!”
“What?” Shi Yi was taken aback.
“My hand was smashed because you hired someone to do it, wasn’t it? You even had them beat Yifan up like that, and Wan’er too. What deep grudge does the Chu family have against you? Are you trying to crush us to death?”
“It wasn’t me.” Shi Yi narrowed her phoenix-like eyes, a commanding aura rising within them.
Song Yashi stepped forward and grabbed Shi Yi’s arm. “You shamelessly clung to my son before, but now you’re with the Ling family, trying to kick my son aside. What do you take him for?”
He Wen, who had been smoking in the stairwell, heard the commotion and quickly stubbed out his cigarette before rushing over to pull Song Yashi away from Shi Yi.
“Don’t pull me away! I’m going to fight that wretched woman today. My son is so outstanding, and she just drops him like a hot potato...”
Song Yashi kicked wildly, spewing curses.
Words like “wretched woman,” “seductive vixen,” “dead girl,” “fake heiress,” and “hillbilly” tumbled out of her mouth—a veritable shrew’s tirade.
Soon, a crowd gathered at the door, laughing and pointing at Shi Yi.
Leaning against the doorframe, Shi Yi quietly endured the verbal assault for a full ten minutes. As a daughter of a distinguished family, pampered by her father and brothers, when had she ever suffered such humiliation?
Finally, unable to bear it any longer, she delivered a flying kick to Song Yashi’s abdomen.
Thud—
A loud crash! Song Yashi slammed heavily against the wall, coughing up a mouthful of blood.
Shi Yi’s cold eyes swept over her as she commanded, “Get out!”
Song Yashi was in such pain she nearly floated off the ground.
Curled up like a shrimp, she struggled to stand, utterly bewildered. How could the once meek and vulnerable Shi Yi strike so fiercely?
She wiped the blood from her lips, trembling with fury, and shouted, “That wretched woman must be possessed by Guan Yu!”
She lunged at Shi Yi again.
He Wen hurried forward to pull Song Yashi away.
At that moment, Ling Siyue strode over, his long legs bringing him swiftly. His brow was furrowed deeply, and his expression was grim.
He glanced at Shi Yi briefly, then fixed his cold gaze on Song Yashi. “She’s having a mental episode. Don’t you think you should take her to a psychiatric hospital?”
Clutching her abdomen, Song Yashi pitifully said, “Siyue, Auntie raised you. The elder generations of the Ling and Chu families are closely related. By seniority, Yifan should even call you uncle. Are you really going to tear apart the relationship between the Ling and Chu families over a woman?”
Ling Siyue’s eyes darkened. “I don’t care about the Ling and Chu families’ relations. I only know that this woman will have nothing to do with your Chu family from now on. What happens between me and her is no business of outsiders.”
Song Yashi was speechless. She glared at Shi Yi and complained, “Siyue, don’t be fooled by this woman. She’s a disrespectful shrew who attacked me twice and nearly killed me. Besides, your father Ling Yaoting is not the kind to allow a woman like Shi Yi into the Ling family.”
