Chapter 17: Ruthlessly Defeating the White Lotus
Chu Yuancheng sighed deeply. "I hope you can truly convince her."
"Don't worry, I'll do my best," Qin Wan’er replied, lowering her eyes to hide the storm brewing within.
Why was it that Shi Yi had climbed so high, while she was forced to be tied to a worthless man just because of a child?
Chu Yifan happily embraced Qin Wan’er. "Wan’er, you’re so kind. Rest assured, even if that woman kneels and begs me, I won’t remarry her. Once the Chu family overcomes this crisis, I’ll marry you and give you a grand wedding to make up for everything."
With that, he sent a message to Shi Yi on WeChat: "Bitch, leave me and don't regret it."
Leaning against Chu Yifan’s chest, Qin Wan’er feigned sincerity. "As long as I can help the Chu family through this."
Song Yashi urged, "Then Wan’er, you’d better go quickly. Shi Yi injured her hand and happens to be in this hospital."
"Alright, I’m going now. Don’t worry, wait for my good news!" Qin Wan’er nodded obediently, but as she turned to leave, a faint, icy glint flashed in her eyes.
…
No sooner had Ling Siyie left than a doctor in a white coat entered Shi Yi’s hospital room.
Shi Yi frowned. "Who are you?"
The doctor approached and patted her shoulder, pouting. "Heartless person, you don’t even remember me? You hurt your hand, not your brain, right?"
Shi Yi thought for a moment. "Su Jinyu?"
"At least you have some conscience. I heard you were sick, so I came to see you," Su Jinyu said with a bright smile.
"Oh, finally someone cares about me," Shi Yi said, her expression tinged with grievance.
In her memories, Su Jinyu was the only true friend she had in this world, the daughter of the hospital director—carefree and fiercely loyal.
At that moment, the door opened and Qin Wan’er’s head peeked in.
"What are you doing here?" Shi Yi’s expression turned cold.
Qin Wan’er trembled, her voice pitiful. "Yi Yi, why are you so unhappy to see me?"
"Seeing a cursed concubine—what’s there to be happy about?" Shi Yi sneered lightly.
That wretched woman dared call her a concubine again!?
Qin Wan’er held back tears, her eyes red. "Yi Yi, how can you say that? We used to be the best of friends. When you pushed me down the stairs and broke my leg, I never blamed you."
"I didn’t touch you two years ago. You fell down the stairs yourself. If you hadn’t schemed before, Chu Yifan wouldn’t have fallen for someone else," Shi Yi said with a faint smile. "I should thank you for stealing my scumbag husband and freeing me from misery."
Qin Wan’er was startled. Why was this woman’s tone so bitter and sarcastic?
Two years ago, she had deliberately fallen down the stairs to frame Shi Yi. After so long, and without surveillance footage, who would believe that woman’s lies?
She stepped forward to grab Shi Yi’s arm.
"Yi Yi, how can you say that? I know you blame me for taking Yifan. If you can’t stand me, I’ll break up with him. Just please remember our old friendship and beg the Ling family to give the Chu family a way out."
Shi Yi dodged, and Qin Wan’er missed her grasp. Shi Yi said nothing, only watching her act with amused interest.
Qin Wan’er narrowed her eyes. This woman’s reaction was completely different from before—as if she were a different person.
"Yi Yi, you love Yifan so much, you’ll help him get through this, right? I can disappear entirely, just so you can be with him again."
Qin Wan’er lowered herself, thinking that whenever she played the victim, Shi Yi would never hold it against her. She had always thought Shi Yi was brainless.
Shi Yi still said nothing, smiling faintly, eyes glinting.
Qin Wan’er’s expression darkened, losing patience.
She despised this woman deeply. Why did she get to have what Qin Wan’er didn’t want?
Her face fell, a cold sneer curling her lips. "Shi Yi, you’re such a hypocrite. Do you still think you’re the heiress of the Shi family? Do you really think Ling Siyie likes you? You’re just a cheap woman being toyed with by men."
Knowing Shi Yi’s hand was injured, Qin Wan’er was sure she wouldn’t fight back.
She touched her belly and continued to curse, "You’re shameless. Give you a little color and you want to start a scandal..."
She raised her hand, but Shi Yi bit fiercely into her arm, drawing blood.
"Ah! You bitch, are you a dog or what!?" Qin Wan’er screamed, instinctively raising her hand to slap Shi Yi’s face.
Just as the slap was about to land, Su Jinyu grabbed Qin Wan’er’s hair from behind, pushed her to the ground, and started slapping her.
‘Smack, smack...’ The blows rained down relentlessly.
"Qin Wan’er, if it weren’t for Shi Yi’s restraint, I would’ve torn your filthy mouth apart by now. You think you’re so clever? Want me to send you a banner for that!?" Shi Yi teased.
"Jinyu, don’t hit her belly! That concubine is clearly trying to lose the baby and frame someone," Shi Yi warned.
Su Jinyu continued slapping Qin Wan’er’s cheek. "You scheming woman, how dare you bully Yi Yi! If Yi Yi hadn’t supported you in college, you’d have starved to death."
"Who’s shameless? Go home and look in the mirror. See how many onions are on your head. If you don’t have any, buy some and stick them on to pretend you’re innocent!" Shi Yi mocked, sitting on the bed and biting into an apple as she watched the drama unfold.
Su Jinyu’s eyes darkened with fury as she punched Qin Wan’er hard in the face.
Qin Wan’er panicked. Damn it, why hadn’t she realized the doctor in the white coat was Su Jinyu!?
Su Jinyu had trained in taekwondo since childhood, able to take down two boys at once in university.
Qin Wan’er quickly begged, "Jinyu, don’t misunderstand. How could I curse Shi Yi? I’m also one of her good friends..."
"Yi Yi’s good friend? You wish!" Su Jinyu spat on Qin Wan’er’s face.
"Know what it means to be despicable? If not, go look in the mirror."
Then her gaze turned cold. She stomped on Qin Wan’er’s face, grinding down hard.
"Ahhh!" Qin Wan’er screamed.
Her face was bruised and swollen, and to make matters worse, the apple peel Shi Yi spat out stuck to her face—a humiliating disgrace.
Shi Yi had no manners at all, spitting apple peel everywhere like that!
Su Jinyu patted Qin Wan’er’s face with a sneer. "If Yi Yi hadn’t protected you, I would’ve beat you to a pulp long ago. You scheming little bitch, what a joke!"
Qin Wan’er felt as if her head was about to explode under Su Jinyu’s stomping, blood filling her mouth.
"Jin... Jinyu, I was wrong, please let me go. It’s all my fault..." Qin Wan’er cried out in desperate pleading.
