Chapter 14: My Woman
Jiang Dayong turned his body to dodge, but his hands were firmly pressed down by He Wen, leaving him no chance to escape.
Bang—
A glass smashed heavily against Jiang Dayong’s head, shattering instantly with shards scattering all around.
He Wen kicked Jiang Dayong’s calf with a flying kick, causing him to lose balance and collapse onto the ground, kneeling on the shards of broken glass.
The pain made his whole body convulse, lips trembling uncontrollably as he curled up like a beaten sack.
Ling Siyue, cold as the grim reaper, glared at him sharply: “Remember now? Who ordered you to do this?”
He Wen stomped on Jiang Dayong’s foot, ruthlessly grinding it several times.
Glass shards pierced deep into the flesh, making Jiang Dayong grit his teeth in agony.
“It hurts, it hurts, please, no more beating! I—I’ll talk, I’ll talk! This morning I received an anonymous call. The caller transferred me a hundred thousand yuan to ruin that girl’s hand. I really don’t know who it was, please, I beg you, spare me!”
Ling Siyue kicked him hard: “You heartless beast, and you still know pain?!”
That woman was the one he longed to cherish with all his heart. Her dexterous hands were invaluable to Shi Yi—how dare anyone try to destroy them!?
For a fleeting moment, he wished he could tear the ones who harmed her to pieces.
His eyes turned as cold as millennia-old ice as he signaled He Wen: “They say the fingers are connected to the heart—make him feel that pain too.”
“Yes, Young Master Ling,” He Wen replied.
Ling Siyue turned and strode away.
“Ahhh—”
Behind him came a scream that pierced the moonlit night.
In the hall, a young officer stood facing Ling Siyue, smiling as he asked, “What happened? Who did he offend to make Young Master Ling so furious?”
Ling Siyue casually slipped his hand into his pocket and replied with a hint of disdain, “Kid, mind your own business.”
The young officer was Su You, Ling Siyue’s classmate and close friend.
…
Back at the hospital.
Ling Siyue sat beside Shi Yi’s hospital bed, gazing at her delicate and innocent sleeping face. His deep eyes shimmered with emotion.
Suddenly, she gripped his sleeve tightly and murmured, “Master, don’t leave me.”
Perhaps it was the injury, but the tough facade she wore cracked slightly, revealing a vulnerable side.
Her fragility and helplessness were all rooted in her reliance on him.
Ling Siyue leaned down and gently patted her back, soothing, “Yi Yi, I won’t leave. I’ll never leave again. Even if you drive me away, I won’t go.”
For the first time, he felt needed by her—a subtle yet stirring sensation rippled through his heart.
Shi Yi loosened her grasp and settled back down. She didn’t know why, but at that moment, she simply wanted him by her side.
Ling Siyue brushed the messy hair from her forehead and whispered softly, “Yi Yi, be good. Sleep now. I’m here with you.”
His gaze unintentionally fell upon her blackened fingers, tightening painfully in his chest. Such a pure and kind girl shouldn’t have to suffer like this.
Shi Yi was in a state between sleep and wakefulness, and the saying “ten fingers connected to the heart” was no exaggeration—each heartbeat seemed to tug at the pain in her fingers.
She thought about her situation, about surviving in this world by relying on the original owner’s skills. If her fingers were ruined, what would become of her...?
The thought robbed her of sleep.
Knock knock knock—
A light knock came at the door.
Ling Siyue rose and opened it.
He Wen stood outside, speaking quietly, “Young Master Ling, I think this was done by Song Yashi. After you left, I checked Jiang Dayong’s contacts and found a man named Huang Quan. He seems very close to Song Yashi—probably an improper relationship.”
Song Yashi was, after all, Shi Yi’s nominal mother-in-law. Ling Siyue’s heart chilled.
What kind of torment had his woman suffered in the Chu family?
At this moment, he cursed himself for not returning sooner. No, he should never have gone abroad. Even if he was tied up, he should have snatched Shi Yi away from Chu Yifan.
Ling Siyue clenched his fist until his knuckles whitened. “Fight fire with fire. Keep it discreet—don’t let anyone find a handle on this.”
“Yes, Young Master Ling.” He Wen responded and left.
Ling Siyue returned to the bedside and gently stroked Shi Yi’s cheek, earnestly asking, “Yi Yi, do you want to divorce Chu Yifan? Nod if you do. Leave the rest to me.”
Shi Yi’s heart stirred deeply. Though her eyes remained closed, she nodded seriously.
“Yi Yi, that’s what I wanted to hear. Wait for me. I will be with you openly and honorably.”
Ling Siyue bent down and kissed her forehead tenderly.
The sound of footsteps faded away, followed by the door closing softly until all was silent.
Shi Yi felt as if none of this was real. This man was merely a spare member of the Ling family, but his abilities were formidable.
…
In another hospital room.
Chu Yifan lay on the bed, groaning in pain. The door suddenly swung open.
Without a word, Ling Siyue shut the door firmly, casting a cold glance at Chu Yifan. His voice was icy: “Yi Yi doesn’t like your kind. Divorce her.”
Chu Yifan was stunned for a few seconds, then smiled wryly, “So Shi Yi prefers her uncle’s type?”
“Right. She likes me,” Ling Siyue said, looking down on him with a powerful aura.
Chu Yifan’s smile froze, replaced by a chill: “Too bad she’s my wife.”
“Not for long,” Ling Siyue said, stepping onto Chu Yifan’s fractured leg, his eyes turning to ice.
“I gave her to you once, and you tortured her like this. I’ll settle this score with you.”
“Ahh, it hurts, hurts! Uncle, please spare me!” Chu Yifan clutched his re-broken leg, screaming like a slaughtered pig.
“Spare you? Did you ever think about how much she suffered when you and your mother tormented her?” Ling Siyue stomped down repeatedly on his leg.
Ding-ling-ling—
Chu Yifan’s phone rang. Begging, he said, “U-uncle, I’ll take this call.”
Ling Siyue withdrew his foot, his face darkening menacingly.
The call connected, and from the other end came Song Yashi’s agonized scream: “Son, someone just smashed mommy’s hand! Ow, it hurts so much!”
Thud—
Chu Yifan’s phone dropped to the floor, his face drained of color. “U-uncle, please spare me!”
“Divorce her tomorrow, understood?” Ling Siyue’s cold voice made the hair on one’s neck stand on end.
Chu Yifan shook nervously and asked, “Can we trade this for something else? What about cooperation between our families?”
Ling Siyue laughed bitterly. “What right do you have to bargain over Yi Yi with me? Divorce her, or the Chu family will be bankrupt within three days. Believe it or not.”
“Fine, fine! I’ll do it! I’ll divorce that woman tomorrow!” Chu Yifan completely caved, knowing Ling Siyue’s temper was absolute.
Ling Siyue glared at him and turned to leave. Just then, Chu Yifan added, “Shi Yi is crazy. Don’t be fooled by her…”
Bang—
Ling Siyue kicked him off the bed onto the floor. “My woman isn’t someone you get to slander.”
