Chapter 14: Secrets of the Dark World, Saint Louise’s Prodigy!
“Now’s the time!”
“Little Divine Dragon, draw your blade and slay them all!”
Su Mu commanded immediately.
Suddenly, Little Divine Dragon charged forward, unleashing a breath of dragonfire at the vampires.
Though Blade Slash was a ground warrior, his attack range had now extended to two kilometers. In an instant, a faint blue blade of energy spread rapidly across the sky in a circular sweep.
[Little Divine Dragon killed 5 low-tier Silver Vampires, gaining 1,000 experience points.]
[Blade Slash killed 16 low-tier Silver Vampires, gaining 2,600 experience points.]
[Little Divine Dragon killed 2 Golden Vampires, gaining 3,000 experience points.]
[Blade Slash killed 8 Golden Vampires, gaining 12,600 experience points.]
Both of them were already Platinum-level warriors, effortlessly cutting down this horde of vampires.
Although many low-tier vampires had fallen, the main fighting force remained—the elegantly dressed high-tier vampires.
In a flash, more than a dozen high-tier vampires suddenly vanished, disappearing from the sky.
However, their invisibility seemed ineffective against Little Divine Dragon and Blade Slash.
As a Hell Divine Dragon, Little Divine Dragon was deeply attuned to the aura of dark creatures; a mere sniff with his nose could locate their hiding places.
Blade Slash’s spirit power had reached 1,800 points—180 times that of an ordinary person—allowing him to detect invisible vampires through sheer instinct.
[Little Divine Dragon killed 2 Golden Tier 6 Vampires, gaining 9,000 experience points.]
[Blade Slash killed 2 Platinum Tier 1 Vampires, gaining 30,000 experience points.]
The slaughter continued, with significant casualties among the high-tier vampires as well.
Su Mu exhaled in relief. “Looks like I won’t have to join the battle myself.”
An alert suddenly blared in Su Mu’s ear:
[Warning: Count Koster has appeared behind you and is about to deliver a lethal strike.]
“Divine Shield!”
Without hesitation, Su Mu summoned a holy protective shield behind him.
With a sharp ‘ding,’ sparks flew as the shield saved Su Mu’s life just in time.
A brilliant light burst from the shield, dispelling Count Koster’s invisibility.
He stood three meters behind Su Mu, sword in hand, coldly scrutinizing him.
“What are you staring at, you damned vampire? Too bad I can’t eat you — or else I’d roast you tonight,” Su Mu grinned, showing his white teeth. Honestly, after such a long fight, he was truly hungry.
“You are a formidable human lord, but unfortunately, you will die here tonight,” Count Koster said leisurely, speaking in the purest human tongue with elegant intonation and clear articulation.
Even in a life-or-death duel, he maintained the basic decorum of a noble.
Su Mu glanced up; indeed, a blood-red moon was rising slowly in the sky.
Under the Blood Moon, all dark creatures grew exponentially stronger.
Koster was right—the fight tonight was far from over.
Su Mu was somewhat surprised but didn’t dwell on it.
Koster probably didn’t know that his skeleton warriors grew stronger with every kill; although these vampires gained power under the Blood Moon, they hadn’t increased as rapidly as Blade Slash.
Instead, Su Mu found himself curious about something else.
He asked with a smile, “As dark creatures, how did you learn the human language? Don’t you have your own language?”
Koster sneered arrogantly.
“Foolish human, before I kill you, I’ll answer for free.”
“First, although we dark creatures are diverse in races, we have our own traditions and cultures. We have our own cities and schools, hidden deep within the heart of the dark realm. With your current human strength, you can’t even reach the outskirts of these cities.”
“Like you humans, we build our own cities and universities. Any dark creature above the Golden tier who attains consciousness can attend these schools to learn various subjects, such as how to hunt humans and how to use human language.”
“As for our vampire clan, being a high-tier dark race, we can absorb all your memories and languages simply by drinking your blood.”
“So, you’re a graduate of the Dark University? Which school did you attend?” Su Mu aimed to extract useful information.
Humans knew very little about dark creatures.
Human textbooks never mentioned that dark creatures had their own cities and universities.
Before coming here, Su Mu thought these beings were merely mindless beasts.
“I am a top graduate of the sixteenth class at the Vampire Saint Lucius Academy,” Count Koster said proudly, clearly proud of his status.
“Top students are the worst,” Su Mu muttered sourly, drawing his chopping blade and rushing toward Koster.
Because he had been measured as having an S-tier talent yet would forever remain at level 1, he naturally despised overachievers.
“Heh, you humans are not only foolish but rude,” Koster frowned, raising his longsword as he charged.
With a loud bang, sparks flew.
Their weapons clashed, and Koster was flung back four or five meters by Su Mu’s strike.
A joke—Su Mu was now Platinum 4, roughly equal in power to Koster, but the protective shield halved Koster’s strength. Though empowered by the Blood Moon, he was still no match for Su Mu.
“Gale!”
Realizing he was weaker, Koster abandoned brute force and intended to use the vampire’s super speed to slay this formidable human.
Ding ding ding—the area around Su Mu shimmered with sparks.
Koster’s speed was truly like a gale, elusive and swift, leaving behind a blur of afterimages. At first glance, it seemed like a dozen Kosters were attacking Su Mu simultaneously.
In just three seconds, Su Mu withstood over a hundred attacks from Koster.
Fortunately, Su Mu’s Divine Shield was powerful; Koster’s relentless barrage failed to break through his defense.
“This vampire is tough, running all over the place,” Su Mu grew anxious. If only he could cultivate Blade Slash’s kind of blade aura to cover a wide area, he wouldn’t fear the vampire’s speed.
Suddenly, Su Mu devised a countermeasure.
The vampire was fast, but if he tethered Koster to himself, how could he run?
With a booming strike, Su Mu used the function of his holographic eye to lock onto Koster’s figure, then slashed fiercely, knocking Koster back a few meters and temporarily preventing him from activating the Gale skill.
Immediately, Su Mu raised the Holy Light Altar in his hand and shone it directly at Koster’s face. Instinctively, Koster raised a hand to shield himself.
“Now!”
Su Mu quickly pulled an iron chain from his clothes, wrapping one end twice around his arm before swinging it fiercely.
The chain shot through Koster’s right hand at high speed, and under inertia, it wrapped several times around Koster’s wrist.
Thus, the two were tightly bound together.
