Chapter Ninety-One: It Feels Good to Be Good
There were more than a dozen human skins, all in different shapes, both male and female, and they had been stripped with unsettling completeness. The sight alone was ghastly.
It seemed that some of them even belonged to disciples of the Jade Immortal Sect.
Ning Xianyu glanced once and dared not look again. She hurriedly told Zhao Ling and the others to pack the skins away.
“Take these back and give your Third Elder an account of them. That should count as merit, shouldn’t it?”
Zhao Ling thought about it and found the reasoning sound, so he quickly ordered his junior brothers to gather the things up.
The junior brothers were merely attendants. They feared the Zhao family’s ancestor, and though the human skins terrified them as well, they still obediently packed them away.
They even collected Xiao Huai’s skin too. After all, he had been their junior brother; bringing him back would make the explanation easier.
What a pity. Such a young disciple, dead like this.
Though Ning Xianyu was disgusted by the human skins, she was not disgusted by the other treasures left behind by the false Xiao Huai.
She picked up a bottle from inside to inspect it, and Xuan Yuan Tun Han said it was a Transformation Pill, refined by the Seventh Elder, Xi Yao. After taking it, one could transform into another cultivator. It seemed this was stolen by the demonic cultivator.
Ning Xianyu immediately tucked the bottle away in secret. This was a fine thing indeed; if one sees it, one shares in it.
Inside there were also many spirit stones, several magical artifacts, a tent-like shelter, and many other valuables dug up this time by the false Xiao Huai.
Ning Xianyu packed away all the good stuff and handed the demonic cultivator’s remaining belongings to Zhao Ling. “Take these back, and you’ll have something to report.”
Zhao Ling had never seen such a greedy person, one who would even rake over such a small pile of things.
Seeing his look of disgust, Ning Xianyu could not help but snap, “What are you staring at? You want them too?”
“Let me tell you, this is the reward for me killing the demonic cultivator. If you want one, go kill one yourself.”
Zhao Ling only looked even more disdainful. “I don’t want them. They’re just rubbish.”
“I...”
So in the end, the other side turned out to be a rich second generation who looked down on these things.
It was infuriating. Damn those privileged rich heirs.
Why was she not a rich second generation too?
So annoyed that she thrust out her hand. “Come on. For saving your life, I don’t need you to pledge yourself to me. Just give me some reward, and we’ll call it even.”
If you’re so wealthy, then bleed a little.
Zhao Ling was shocked. “You’re robbing me?”
Ning Xianyu put on an aggrieved face and said in a soft, delicate, and frail voice, “How can you call it robbery? I saved your life. If not for me, the demonic cultivator would have beaten you to death.”
“What, is your life worthless? Or are you only good at bullying people and incapable of repaying a kindness?”
She drew her sword and planted it in the ground, wearing a wicked smile.
Hmph. She was not wrong. This was a perfectly reasonable demand.
Xuan Yuan Tun Han scratched his head and did not stop her at all.
To him, this was just a bit of horseplay among children. No need to intervene.
For someone like Ning Xianyu, there was nothing she could really do.
When Zhao Ling and the others saw her sword, they grew somewhat afraid.
Zhao Ling’s own life-bound treasured sword had been cut in two by this very blade, and that demonic cultivator had just been pierced through by it as well. They were convinced it was some priceless treasure Xuan Yuan had given her, indestructible and unbeatable.
Besides, Ning Xianyu had just defeated a demonic cultivator at the peak of Nascent Soul. In their own estimation, they could not possibly be her match.
In the end, each of them produced a pile of top-grade spirit stones, and Ning Xianyu accepted them with great delight.
“All right then, we’re even from now on. Ah, being a good person feels wonderful.”
What sort of good person are you? You’re clearly a robber.
Zhao Ling and the others were all depressed. They had clearly been robbed, and yet she still talked about being a good person?
Ning Xianyu also asked them for some wound medicine, then told them to hurry to the exit and stop wandering around.
As for herself, she went to find Lin Kaishu and the others.
Xuan Yuan Tun Han said, “Seen the benefits of having higher cultivation now?”
“Seen them,” Ning Xianyu said happily.
Big fists made everything simple. If others could not beat you, they had no choice but to obey.
Xuan Yuan Tun Han asked, “Still want to rise another level?”
Ning Xianyu still shook her head. “I can’t do it.”
In any case, she simply could not do it. No matter what benefits there might be, she could not manage it.
Xuan Yuan Tun Han fell silent at once. He had never seen such hopeless mud that could not be molded onto a wall.
Ning Xianyu soon found Lin Kaishu and the others, and took out the wound medicine. “This is from Zhao Ling. He said it was an apology.”
Lin Kaishu and the others accepted the medicine, feeling certain that Zhao Ling and the rest had not given it willingly.
“Senior Sister, did you go and teach them a lesson again?”
For their sake?
Ning Xianyu said, “No. I just happened to pass by and save them from death. They were filled with gratitude, proactively gave me many spirit stones and medicines to thank me for saving their lives, and deeply recognized their own mistakes.”
Xuan Yuan Tun Han closed his eyes.
Utter nonsense.
Chang Qi said it directly, “Who are you trying to fool? You definitely beat them up.”
For some reason, that only made him laugh.
Ding Hong also smiled. “Still, we should thank you, Senior... Junior Sister.”
Ning Xianyu smiled and told them they should all leave together.
Xuan Yuan Tun Han said that since a demonic cultivator had slipped in here, there might be others as well. He suggested they leave first.
This place was vast and sparsely populated. If something happened, they might not even find the bones.
Lin Kaishu and the others did not understand why she wanted everyone to leave. They had the map and had indeed found many good things. They still wanted to search a bit more.
But Ning Xianyu looked seriously around them, then at everyone present, and still advised them to get out first.
Because of her grave expression, Lin Kaishu realized something might indeed be wrong, and called everyone to leave together.
“This outing has already yielded far more than expected. We should stop while we’re ahead, so as not to draw the envy of others.”
Everyone thought about it and found that made sense. The things they had obtained were indeed much better than before, and leaving now was not a loss.
They packed up their things and followed Ning Xianyu toward the entrance.
Xuan Yuan Tun Han taught Ning Xianyu how to use a talisman to contact the sect and have them open the entrance ahead of time.
The talisman had an emergency summons function, to be used if one encountered a situation inside that could not be handled.
Ning Xianyu brought Lin Kaishu and the others to the entrance quickly, where Elder Bu Jiao and several others were already waiting.
Xuan Yuan Tun Han immediately jumped out, telling Ning Xianyu to remember to change him back later.
Soon after, he sent a message through to say that all disciples must leave the Spirit Pivot Secret Realm at once. Leave immediately.
Elder Bu Jiao hurriedly sent word to every disciple inside, ordering them to reach the entrance at once.
As for all disciples who came out, none were allowed to leave. Under the supervision of several elders, they were all gathered within a barrier.
When Lin Kaishu and the others saw such a display, they immediately realized something serious had happened.
“No wonder Senior Sister told us to come back quickly. Something really did happen.”
“I just wonder what happened to cause such a commotion.”
They all stood inside the barrier, glancing around at the other disciples, who were equally bewildered and somewhat uneasy.
Ning Xianyu had not left either; she was brought over as well.
She was not nervous at all. Instead, she took a cushioned long chair out of her storage bag and sat on it eating snacks.
Lin Kaishu and the others came over to ask what had happened.
Ning Xianyu thought about it, then told them.
When Lin Kaishu and the others heard that the false Xiao Huai had actually been a demonic cultivator, they were all startled.
They immediately looked at one another, fearing that there might also be some demonic cultivator among them.
The crowd fell into unease.
