Ning Xianyu gave a startled jolt. Her first reaction was to put everything away.

She had barely begun when someone appeared before her in the blink of an eye and sat down on the stone bed she had just tidied.

Her hands trembled with fright, but after a brief struggle, she continued gathering her things.

Whatever happened, she could not afford to lose them.

The man on the bed looked completely unfamiliar. She had never seen him before, but she had heard his voice: Xiahou Fang, the rogue cultivator.

That lazy, carefree air, touched with wildness and something faintly sinister, was exactly like Xiahou Fang’s.

According to the people of the Jade Immortal Sect, Xiahou Fang never showed his true face. The skin he was wearing now belonged to some other unfortunate soul—though she had no idea which one.

The thought that it might be the skin of a dead man made Ning Xianyu break out in gooseflesh.

The man smiled. “It hasn’t been that long since we last met, and you already don’t recognize me, Senior Sister?”

Ning Xianyu was so disgusted she nearly vomited, but she forced herself to look up.

“You’re Xiahou Fang?”

He had changed into the face of a young and handsome man, with the refined, steady bearing of a gentleman carved from jade.

But whenever she remembered that this fellow killed people and stripped off their skins, Ning Xianyu could not help imagining that his smile would soon twist into a terrifying, bloodthirsty grin.

Xiahou Fang, however, looked delighted. “Senior Sister still remembers me. How wonderful. It seems that after I left, you missed me terribly. Then all those sleepless nights I spent thinking of you were not in vain.”

Ning Xianyu finished gathering her belongings and retreated in alarm.

What a true lunatic. Who would ever miss him?

“What did you abduct me for?” Ning Xianyu glanced around, then hurriedly summoned her courage. “I’m warning you, Xuanyuan Tunhan has been following me. He’ll find me very soon, so you’d better let me go now.”

That great demon had placed some kind of talisman—or something similar—on her before. He should be able to locate her soon.

She would rather be found by the great demon first. At the very least, he would not immediately haul her off to mend the heavens; she might still have a chance to escape.

This lunatic was different. He was capable of killing people and flaying them alive.

Xiahou Fang laughed as though he had heard something amusing. “Don’t worry. I’ve set up a barrier here. Xuanyuan Tunhan will never find you.”

“How do you think a rogue cultivator whom everyone wants dead has survived all these years?”

When it came to hiding, if he claimed to be second in the world, no one would dare claim to be first.

Ning Xianyu thought it over and realized that he had a point.

The last time he had infiltrated the Jade Immortal Sect itself, he had still managed to escape safely. That alone was proof of his skill.

Waaah, this time she was truly doomed.

[I’ve made up my mind. I’m going to wish for this bastard to die.]

Once this bastard was dead, she would be able to leave.

But Xiahou Fang suddenly said, [You’d better behave, too. Don’t do anything reckless. I created this barrier with spirit stones and a magical formation. If I die, you’ll never be able to get out.]

What?

[Wait a moment. I’m not making the wish yet.]

Xiahou Fang was such a bastard. How could he be so despicable?

Ning Xianyu asked warily, “Then what exactly did you abduct me for?”

Could he want her skin?

Huh?

Ning Xianyu suddenly thought of a brilliant idea. [If I give him this skin, I won’t have to mend the heavens, and I’ll still be able to escape.]

The system said, [That is indeed the case. But you’ll still need to make the wish more specific before I can help you fulfill it.]

Ning Xianyu pondered how to maximize her gains, while Xiahou Fang smiled. “I came to find you, of course, because I wanted to play with you. The mountains are dreadfully dull, so I thought I’d bring you here for a little amusement.”

He examined her with great interest. “Don’t worry. I don’t want your skin. It’s simply that your temperament is so entertaining that I wanted to bring you back and play with you for a while.”

“Play my ass, you pervert!”

Ning Xianyu covered her chest, thinking that if the bastard truly dared approach her, she would blow herself up and take him with her.

Seeing her reaction, Xiahou Fang thought for a moment, then suddenly made a disgusted face and waved his hands hurriedly. “What on earth are you thinking? Your mind is truly filthy. The human body is precious beyond measure. How could I possibly do the sort of thing you’re imagining?”

He looked at her with disdain, as though Ning Xianyu were some lecherous scoundrel about to make an indecent advance on him.

For a moment, Ning Xianyu did not know whether she ought to be pleased or furious at his expression of disgust.

What kind of nonsense was this? How dare he look down on her?

“No, wait. You were the one speaking ambiguously. What do you mean by that look?”

Xiahou Fang burst into laughter again. “You really are entertaining. You fall for every little provocation. If you truly fell in love with me, I suppose I wouldn’t mind keeping you company.”

He made it sound as though he were suffering terribly, and with that refined, gentlemanly face, he even put on an expression suggesting that he was about to be forced into prostitution. The sight sent a chill through her.

“Thank you ever so much. I’m not interested, I don’t need it, and I have no such desire.”

Ning Xianyu realized that he had been toying with her. That bastard had done it on purpose.

Unable to discern Xiahou Fang’s true intentions, she fell silent. She found a place to stand and adopted a defensive stance.

Seeing how wary she was, Xiahou Fang did not seem bothered. Instead, he asked, “You obtained the true Stargazing Stone in the Spirit Pivot Secret Realm. Did you ever ask Elder Bu Jiao about it?”

“I did, but I learned nothing. Elder Bu Jiao said that fate lies in one’s own hands and told me not to overthink it.”

Xiahou Fang clapped his hands sharply. “Exactly. Elder Bu Jiao’s words are entirely to my liking.”

Ning Xianyu thought to herself: If you truly agree with her, why did you go to such lengths to steal the Stargazing Stone?

Xiahou Fang smiled. “So the Stargazing Stone has fallen into Xuanyuan Tunhan’s hands now, has it? Do you think he would be willing to bring me the stone in exchange for you?”

He stroked his chin, his handsome brows drawing together as though he were genuinely considering the matter.

Ning Xianyu lowered her head slightly and thought it over. Then, unable to restrain her curiosity, she asked, “Is the Stargazing Stone really that important to you?”

Important enough to risk breaking into the Jade Immortal Sect just to obtain it—and to abduct her so he could use her as a bargaining chip?

Xiahou Fang’s expression shifted. Then he suddenly leaned forward and seized her chin.

His movement was so swift that he was before her almost in the blink of an eye. Ning Xianyu’s entire body stiffened in fright.

After gripping her chin, Xiahou Fang carefully stroked her face.

His hand was unnaturally smooth, as sleek as porcelain. When it touched her cheek, it felt as though she were being handled by a plastic mannequin.

Xiahou Fang studied her face intently, then smiled. “Your skin is truly excellent. Why don’t you follow me and learn the art of changing skins? Later, I’ll trade ten skins for this one of yours. How does that sound?”

He gazed at her face as though admiring a work of art, lingering over it and showing no desire to let go.

Ning Xianyu thought for a moment. “I don’t want to learn any skin-changing technique. Why don’t you offer me something else? If I’m satisfied with it, I’ll make the trade. What do you say?”

This time, Xiahou Fang was the one left speechless.

His hand paused, then tightened around her face.

“Are you trying to deceive me?”

A dangerous aura coiled around him, as though at any moment it might sweep her into a storm of violence.
