Chapter 85: Bewildering Veil
“What is this girl talking about?” Han Hua lowered her head to look at Fu Bao in her arms. Fog? Where could there be fog here?
“Yes, there is! Look,” Fu Bao pointed to a little spotted dog that was circling around the pillar non-stop.
The three followed Fu Bao’s finger and witnessed a strange scene.
“Isn’t that Zi Xuan’s big spot? Why is it here?” Han Hua put Fu Bao down, intending to grab the dog, but the little spotted dog bared its teeth at her!
Han Hua: ???
“This…” Han Hua stepped back, keeping a safe distance. This was a fierce dog!
“Didn’t this dog disappear? Why did it come here today?” Bai Yulan recognized the dog; only a few days ago, Han Zi Xuan was searching everywhere for it. Now it appeared here!
“There’s something odd about this dog!” The old lady Bai tapped her cane and prodded the little dog. Though it kept baring its teeth, its eyes seemed abnormal!
“This is terrifying,” Han Hua came forward and pulled Bai Yulan away to a safe distance.
Old Lady Bai: Useless!
“Let’s check on the old lady first, and have the servants handle this thing.” Remembering her purpose, the old lady Bai decided to visit Han Old Madam. The atmosphere here was increasingly uncomfortable!
The moment she saw Han Old Madam lying on the bed, old lady Bai felt that something was truly wrong in this mansion.
At that moment, Han Old Madam’s whole body was bloated, her eyes bulging, and sweat poured from her, while a maid kept wiping her down.
“This…” Old Lady Bai was horrified.
Han Zi Xuan, eyes red, bowed to the old lady and said, “Great-grandmother has been like this ever since returning from the palace!”
“The palace?”
“Yes! Aunt fell ill, and great-grandmother went to visit her.”

“Consort Shu is ill?”
“Yes! My younger sister said she wasn’t feeling well and wanted grandmother to accompany her in the palace. After returning…”
It was Han Ying, who had been at her mother’s side in recent days, who spoke.
“Even mother hasn’t been well lately, unable to care for the patient,” Han Ying continued.
“What did the physician say?”
“The physicians couldn’t figure it out! We’ve changed several, but none are competent.”
“Sigh… what a situation…”
Inside, old lady Bai continued talking with the Han family, while Fu Bao was amusing herself with the little dog.
“Come with me! The fog here is so thick—you won’t be able to find your way out.”
Woof woof: I don’t believe you, can’t you see I’m trying hard to walk?
“But you’re just circling around the pillar!”
Woof woof: I don’t believe you, I just walked out of the fog!
“But you just went from this pillar to that one.”
The little spotted dog: “…”
“It doesn’t understand you. It’s trapped in the maze and can’t escape!” At this moment, the little ginseng popped out from Fu Bao’s jade pendant and poked the dog circling the pillar.
“A maze? Is it this thick fog?” Fu Bao looked around; the fog here was dense, but why couldn’t aunt and uncle see it?
“That’s right! Last time in the palace, I sensed the presence of this maze. The aura was faint, but I didn’t expect it to be here too!”
“What on earth is it? Han grandmother is ill!” Fu Bao pouted, angry at the evil thing, and poked the little dog’s nose.

The little dog: It’s not the dog’s fault, why poke me!
“It’s just a maze! I know where it is.” The little ginseng lifted its face and sniffed the air.
Fu Bao: ???
“Follow me!” The little ginseng, acting like a police dog, led Fu Bao through the corridor and archway into the Han mansion’s garden. Strangely, the deeper they went, the fewer servants they saw.
Elsewhere, there was still one or two, but in the back garden there was none.
“Woof woof woof!” The little dog barked suddenly.
“Ah! Found it! There!” The little ginseng jumped up with excitement, pointing to a certain lotus leaf beside the pond.
“Huh—this one?”
“No, beneath this leaf.”
“Come, let me see—what creature dares to cause such trouble!”
With that, the little ginseng lifted the lotus leaf, and the mysterious object surfaced from the water!
