Chapter 147: Why Are You Resorting to Violence Just Because I Told the Truth?
Walking out onto the main street, Qin Xuan looked at the school gate not far away with a hint of nostalgia. Back in the day, he had often been made to stand outside that very gate as a punishment...
"I'm sorry, but it's the holidays right now. Students are not allowed inside," the security guard stopped Qin Xuan and the others right as they reached the entrance.
Just as they were hesitating, Qin Xuan and Liu Ruoxi's high school homeroom teacher walked over from outside, carrying a stack of test papers. Her eyes lit up when she saw them.
"Eh? Qin Xuan? Liu Ruoxi?"
Hearing the voice, Qin Xuan turned around and said, "Teacher Yang! Long time no see!"
Teacher Yang had been Qin Xuan and Liu Ruoxi's homeroom teacher for all three years of high school. She had started teaching here right after graduation, and by now she had settled down in this city, with a child already attending kindergarten.
Teacher Yang cradled the stack of papers in her arms, nodded at them, and reached out to pat Qin Lin'er's shoulder.
"Lin'er~ Still looking as cute as ever."
In the past, Lin'er had often visited Qin Xuan's classroom, and through frequent visits, she had naturally grown close to Teacher Yang. The only regret Teacher Yang had about these three was that Lin'er hadn't ended up in her class. After all... out of the three of them, Lin'er had the best grades, whereas Qin Xuan and Liu Ruoxi, those two deskmates, spent the entire day playing around behind her back, as if she hadn't known!
"Hehe, hello Teacher Yang," Lin'er greeted obediently, her eyes suddenly sparkling with a bright idea. "Is Teacher Yang heading inside? Would you mind taking us in with you?"
Knowing their character, Teacher Yang exchanged a few words with the security guard and led them into the campus. Chatting casually, the group walked over to the administration building.
"Alright, go have fun, but don't go near the dormitory buildings," Teacher Yang instructed before they parted ways.
Once they separated, Qin Xuan noticed Nan Zhiyi looking around curiously at everything, so he reached out and took her hand.
"Let's go. I'll show you around our high school."
The holiday playground was completely empty, and the group stood beneath the trees at the edge of the field, overcome with fond memories.
"Big brother~ Do you remember that time during P.E. class when I fainted and you carried me all the way to the school infirmary on your back?" Standing on the steps, Lin'er leaped onto Qin Xuan's back and whispered right beside his ear.
"You have the nerve to mention it. I told you to eat some steamed buns in the morning, but you refused. Serves you right!" Qin Xuan reached back to support her legs, speaking in a playfully exasperated tone.
Lin'er let out an awkward laugh. "That was purely an accident! I used to skip breakfast all the time and nothing ever happened before, so why then?"
Qin Xuan pinched her leg in retaliation. "And you're proud of it!"
It was also after that incident that Qin Xuan started forcing Lin'er to eat breakfast every morning, which finally put a stop to such episodes.
Liu Ruoxi cast a disdainful glance at Lin'er from the side. "With a body as weak as yours, I have no idea how you manage to keep going every night..."
Hearing those words, the others broke out in a cold sweat. Sister Xi! Please stop dropping innuendos out of nowhere!
"It's not like I have to do the moving... of course I can keep going!" Even so, Lin'er retorted without missing a beat.
Hearing this, Liu Ruoxi reached out and gave Lin'er a swift smack on the bottom. If I can't win against you with words, I can certainly resort to physical force!
Lin'er turned back with a puffed-up pout, glaring at Sister Xi. I was just telling the truth, why did you have to hit me?
Liu Ruoxi took out her phone and snapped a photo of the three of them. Since Nan Zhiyi had come all this way, she naturally had to leave something behind.
She had originally only intended to take a picture of herself and Qin Xuan, but Lin'er clung stubbornly to Qin Xuan's back and refused to get down, so she simply included her in the shot as well.
Nan Zhiyi looked with satisfaction at the photo Sister Xi had sent her. She had managed to take part in yet another piece of Qin Xuan's past! How wonderful.
After wandering around the playground for a while, the group completely failed to notice Teacher Yang looking down at them from upstairs with a knowing, maternal smile. Youth was truly wonderful, but which one of them was actually Qin Xuan's girlfriend?
Somewhat dizzy from trying to figure it out, Teacher Yang finally sighed, sat back down at her desk, and went back to the grueling task of grading papers.
Probably in every high school, there is a designated spot specifically used for scaling the walls. Some students sneak out in the middle of the night to go to internet cafes and climb back in before morning self-study, while others slip out quietly to take care of personal business. In short, you can never cage the yearning for freedom beating inside the hearts of young boys and girls.
Qin Xuan and the others stood in a corner of the playground.
Looking at the brick wall, which had been worn down by half a height from people stepping on it, they sighed helplessly.
Back when Qin Xuan was in high school, he had also climbed out from this exact spot, but that was only to buy feminine supplies for Lin'er...
Just as they were feeling nostalgic, they suddenly noticed someone outside the wall. Then, they saw a girl with a somewhat cold expression leap upward, landing gracefully inside with a few swift movements. She glanced sideways at the four of them before walking straight toward the teaching building.
While they were still feeling puzzled, another boy climbed in right after her. He cast a curious look at the group and then hurried off after the girl, shouting at the top of his lungs, "Hey, hey, hey, wait up for me!"
Judging by their appearance, they must have been younger students whose youthful innocence had yet to fade away.
"Well..." Qin Xuan watched their retreating figures with an awkward expression. Smooth operators!
Paying the incident no mind, the group sat down on the playground to play for a while longer before heading toward the direction of the classrooms.
"Class 7... we're here," Lin'er said, expertly locating Qin Xuan and Liu Ruoxi's old classroom. However, both the door and windows were tightly shut, leaving them only able to look from the outside.
The very first desk by the door in the front row used to be Lin'er's absolute favorite spot. Because the seating arrangement rotated, whenever the two of them ended up in those seats, Lin'er could simply lean over the windowsill in the corridor and chat with her big brother for a while whenever she walked past.
Lin'er's own classroom was on the second floor, and this was the third, but she always loved running up to the third floor to use the restroom simply because she could catch a glimpse of her big brother from this spot and even pass him a few pieces of candy.
Seeing the nostalgic look on Lin'er's face, Nan Zhiyi felt a sudden, inexplicable wave of envy. If she had known beforehand, she should have transferred to this school back then!
The four of them leaned against the corridor railing to look out over the school, only to notice that the two students from earlier were now climbing back out of the school grounds.
"Do you think they're a couple?" Lin'er asked out of curiosity.
"Definitely not! Back then, my relationship with Qin Xuan was way closer than theirs, and we weren't a couple!" Liu Ruoxi said with absolute certainty at the mere thought of the past.
"They're back, I suppose," Lin'er muttered, rubbing her neck as she suddenly felt like eating something again.
Hearing this, Nan Zhiyi handed her phone over immediately. "Take a picture of me first!"
With that, she pulled Qin Xuan over to stand right in front of the familiar window, smiling brightly as she leaned against his shoulder.
Knowing what she wanted, Lin'er raised the phone and snapped several pictures of her from various angles before handing the device back to Zhiyi.
"Thanks, Lin'er!" Nan Zhiyi hugged Qin Xuan's arm happily, looking down at the screen to flip through the newly taken photos with immense satisfaction.
"You're welcome. Just lend Qin Xuan to me for one night in exchange," Lin'er said, holding her hand out toward Nan Zhiyi.
Upon hearing this, Nan Zhiyi immediately turned defensive and grabbed both of Qin Xuan's hands.
"No way! You're still too young, leave this kind of heavy responsibility to me!" Nan Zhiyi declared with a righteous expression.
Speechless, Liu Ruoxi looked at Lin'er and reached out to pinch her ear. "Are you really that desperate to work out your body? Should I let you have all my turns for the next two weeks too?!"
"Ouch, ouch, ouch, it hurts," Lin'er winced, breaking free from Liu Ruoxi's grip. But upon hearing the second half of the sentence, her eyes lit up and she nodded repeatedly.
Seemingly remembering something, however, her expression fell and she drooped her head in disappointment. "Never mind, my time of the month is coming in two weeks..."
"Even if I give it to you, you wouldn't know how to handle it. Don't you know about other methods?" Liu Ruoxi shot her a scornful look, then leaned over to whisper a few words into Qin Xuan's ear.
Qin Lin'er's spirits were instantly revitalized, but then she looked down at herself... There was no way she could pull that off either!
