Chapter 126: Rather... Cute

A little over half an hour later, Qin Liner leaned against Qin Xuan’s chest, her pretty face flushed as she slowly calmed down.
“Go to sleep,” Qin Xuan said, reaching out to pat her back.
But Qin Liner wiped the sweat from her neck and shook her head. “Let’s take another shower. I feel uncomfortable.”
Seeing her like that, Qin Xuan was about to get up and give her room, but Liner suddenly caught his hand. She looked at him expectantly.
“Carry me there…”
Qin Xuan pinched her nose, climbed out of bed, and swept her up in his arms. He kicked open the door and carried her out.
Before long, Nan Zhiyi heard noises coming from the bathroom. Her expression instantly stiffened, and she gripped her pen so hard that it left marks in her fingers.
So you two are the only ones allowed to have fun?!
With a helpless sigh, Nan Zhiyi tossed aside her pen, slipped on her slippers, and hurried out.
When she reached the bathroom, she pounded on the door.
“Watch your image, you two!”
The bathroom immediately fell silent. Satisfied, Nan Zhiyi let out a breath and was just about to turn away when the door opened. Liner poked her little head out and looked at her mischievously.
“Sis Zhiyi? Want to join us?”
Nan Zhiyi’s expression darkened. She bent down, removed one of her slippers, and threw it at her.
“Join you, my foot! Get lost!”
After Liner closed the door again, Nan Zhiyi hopped over on one foot, bent down to retrieve her slipper, then crouched by the door and peered curiously through the crack, hoping to catch a glimpse of what was happening inside…
She had not expected Liner to yank the door open again and look down at her. The atmosphere became intensely awkward.
Fortunately, Nan Zhiyi stood up and lowered her head as if she had discovered something strange. She clicked her tongue in disgust.
Then she lifted her chin proudly and walked away, leaving Qin Liner staring blankly at her back.
What was that supposed to mean?
Puzzled, Qin Liner turned to Qin Xuan.
“Uh…” Qin Xuan looked her up and down, suddenly appearing to understand. “She must have found her confidence in you.”
The moment Qin Liner heard that, she understood. She gazed at Qin Xuan innocently.
“You think so too?”
“N-No, no. You’re still quite…” Qin Xuan put an arm around her, genuinely unsure how to comfort her. “Cute!”
Cute…
Liner’s feelings became complicated when she heard that word.
You’re looking down on me!
She struggled free of Qin Xuan’s arm and glared at him indignantly. His skin prickled under her stare, and he hurriedly waved his hands, searching for another word.
“Promising?”
That only made Qin Liner angrier. She grabbed Qin Xuan’s hand and moved to bite his arm, but he dodged in time. Turning the tables, he pulled her into his arms and lowered his head to kiss her cheek.
“You’re so annoying!”
Liner frowned, took a towel, and wiped her cheek in disgust. She refused even to look at Qin Xuan and turned away indignantly.

Qin Xuan’s eyes lit up at once.
Nan Zhiyi returned to her room in satisfaction and sat at her desk, twirling the pen in her hand. Thinking about what had just happened, she could not help laughing.
But as she laughed, noises once again drifted in from next door. Nan Zhiyi was completely numb by then.
Could Qin Xuan really like that sort of thing?
No, that couldn’t be right!
Thinking of what had happened the previous day, Nan Zhiyi could not help blushing.
The next morning, Qin Xuan did not oversleep. He was in high spirits, humming as he fried eggs.
Then, early in the morning, he received a message from his father.
“Qin Xuan, I have something to take care of in Shudu today. I’ll have dinner with you all tonight.”
At that moment, Qin Jianguo was on a high-speed train bound for Shudu. He had changed into casual clothes. Though his beer belly was rather conspicuous, he was planning to seek out Nan Zhengyi and have a proper fight with him.
That man had been sending him insulting messages for some time now. He had finally had enough. The other man had gone too far!
Meanwhile, Yang Ying lay in a rattan chair, watching Nan Zhengyi warm up in the courtyard with an exasperated expression.
“I’m telling you, you two are getting on in years. Why are you still acting like children?”
“What do you know? His son ran off with my daughter! If I can’t beat up Qin Xuan, can’t I at least beat up his father?” Nan Zhengyi put down the towel he had picked up and wiped the sweat from his brow, grumbling angrily.
“That’s only because your daughter threw herself at him…”
“You have some nerve saying that! If you had stopped her from the beginning, would any of this have happened?”
Yang Ying was immediately displeased.
So it’s my fault, is it? You’ve never been to her room to see those photographs. How could I possibly have stopped her?
She picked up the bowl beside her and took a mouthful of noodles, then ignored him.
Qin Xuan was still somewhat dazed when he received the message.
What were they going to do about his relationship with Liner? He might end up being beaten himself!
After preparing breakfast, Qin Xuan went to wake Liner. She was still groggy, so he simply showed her the message from his father. As expected, she woke up instantly.
“Big brother! What do we do?”
“You’re calling me ‘big brother’ now?” Qin Xuan looked at her with amusement. “It’s fine. Just run farther away when the time comes. With Dad’s stamina, he won’t be able to catch you.”
Qin Liner: What kind of terrible advice is that?
“But I don’t want to run…” Liner bit her lip and looked up at Qin Xuan, her gaze resolute.
Qin Xuan smiled at her and took her hand.
“Then don’t run.”
“Tsk, tsk, tsk!”
The moment Liu Ruoxi woke up in her room, she smelled the delicious aroma from the kitchen. After waiting for quite a while and realizing Qin Xuan still had not come to wake her, she put on her shoes and went out. Her first instinct was to head straight for Liner’s room.

Sure enough, the sight of their clasped hands told her that she had arrived at an inconvenient time.
“Should I let you continue?” Liu Ruoxi asked with a bright smile, though she showed no intention of leaving.
“Continue what?!” Qin Liner complained.
Liu Ruoxi rubbed her hair and paid no attention to the remark.
“Then get up, will you? Dad’s coming over?”
“Mm.” Qin Xuan released Liner’s hand, stood up, and led Ruoxi away.
“Then won’t you two get beaten black and blue?” Liu Ruoxi raised an eyebrow at Qin Xuan.
Qin Xuan gave an awkward smile.
“Probably…”
“Serves you right!” Liu Ruoxi teased with a laugh. “I’ll put medicine on your wounds afterward!”
Why, thank you!
Qin Xuan gave her a playful smack on the backside, then carried the breakfast to the dining table.
Liu Ruoxi immediately punched him in retaliation.
That will teach you to be cheeky!
As they ate, Nan Zhiyi suddenly received a message from her father. He said he was going to get into a fight that day and promised to send her pictures afterward.
Nan Zhiyi was utterly confused. She handed her phone to Qin Xuan.
“What does my dad mean by this?”
Qin Xuan took a sip of porridge and glanced at the message. He immediately understood.
Why were these two grown men so incapable of letting anyone live in peace?
After briefly explaining the situation, Nan Zhiyi laughed so hard that she collapsed against her chair.
“Hahaha! Let them fight, then. They’ve been at it for years anyway. It’ll be fine.”
But when she saw the dejected expressions on Liner and Qin Xuan’s faces, she frowned.
“What’s wrong?” Nan Zhiyi thought for a moment. “You still haven’t told Uncle Qin and Aunt Wang about your relationship, have you?”
“Of course not,” Liu Ruoxi interjected mercilessly from the side. “We’re still trying to figure out which position to take when we get beaten tonight so it won’t hurt as much.”
“Sis Ruoxi! Please stop!” Qin Liner sighed. She speared a fried egg from her plate and stuffed it into her mouth. “It’s not that I’m afraid. I’m just a little worried about Dad’s ability to take it…”
