Chapter 115: All My Stubbornness Stems from Loving You
After washing the dishes, Qin Xuan looked at Nan Zhiyi, who was still sitting in her chair, feeling a bit puzzled.
"Aren't you going to sleep yet?" Qin Xuan lifted his still-damp hands from the dishwashing and pinched her little cheeks.
In a few quick motions, he ended up getting Nan Zhiyi’s hair damp as well. Seeing Qin Xuan’s childlike actions, she felt truly helpless.
"I’m going right now..."
In the end, Qin Xuan watched her lie down obediently, reached out to tuck her in, and only then turned off the light before heading back.
Returning to his room, Qin Xuan discovered that Ruoxi had already fallen asleep. He lifted the blanket, nestled in next to her, and turned off the light. As if sensing a familiar presence, Liu Ruoxi instinctively turned over and embraced him.
Qin Xuan reached out, wrapped his arms around her shoulders, and patted her gently a few times before closing his eyes and drifting off into a hazy sleep.
When Qin Xuan was woken up by his alarm the next day, he found Liu Ruoxi still in his arms. He got out of bed carefully, afraid of waking her.
After Qin Xuan left, Liu Ruoxi opened her eyes and looked at the empty bed. Feeling the lingering warmth, she closed her eyes again. It felt so comfortable; she would sleep for... just another half hour!
When Qin Xuan returned carrying a stack of steamed buns and soy milk, he found the doors to everyone’s rooms tightly shut, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the arduous nature of his role as the "feeder."
A short while later, seeing everyone sitting at the dining table, Qin Xuan couldn't help but let out a long sigh of relief. He glanced at Qin Lin'er, who was feigning ignorance, and thinking back to the inexplicable sense of guilt he’d felt earlier, he thought: *You really have the nerve, don't you?!*
"Qin Xuan~ pass me the meat pie, please." Qin Lin'er pointed to the meat pies in front of him, looking a bit greedy.
Qin Xuan didn't think much of it and stood up to hand her a packaged meat pie.
To his surprise, as Qin Lin'er took the pie, she took the opportunity to scratch his palm, instantly jolting Qin Xuan wide awake.
After pulling his hand back, Qin Xuan sat in his chair, feeling awkward no matter how he looked at Lin'er. She must have been led astray by those people!
Qin Lin'er rested her face in her hands and smiled at Qin Xuan, looking completely unrepentant.
"By the way, I can't be with you all this morning. I have to go to another school, and I probably won't be back until evening." Nan Zhiyi took small bites of her bun, looking at them with a pitiful expression.
She had originally planned to spend the evening alone with Qin Xuan, but now she had to host an event—it was so annoying!
"Stay safe. I’ll have Qin Xuan pick you up tonight," Liu Ruoxi said after taking a sip of soy milk and thinking for a moment.
"Mm-hmm, don't worry," Nan Zhiyi nodded obediently. She looked at Qin Xuan beside her, and seeing him nod as well, she happily lowered her head to eat her bun.
...
During class, Qin Xuan received messages from Nan Zhiyi every so often, either updating him on what she was doing or sending photos of herself wearing her host’s outfit.
Qin Xuan was actually very happy with Nan Zhiyi being this way, but the truth was, she didn't have to do it. Even after Qin Xuan had told her so, she still insisted on doing it her own way. This was the first time Qin Xuan had truly felt the stubbornness of Nan Zhiyi.
On the other side, Nan Zhiyi took advantage of her break in the corridor to take photos of herself and send them to Qin Xuan. *You told me not to send them, but all my stubbornness is because I like you!*
Thinking of how Qin Xuan would say "don't send them" while constantly staring at his phone waiting for the next photo, Nan Zhiyi couldn't help but smile, her dimples showing.
"Nan Zhiyi, it's your turn on stage!"
Hearing someone call her name, Nan Zhiyi told Qin Xuan she had to go and put her phone away. She let out a sigh and trotted back into the room.
Qin Lin'er watched Qin Xuan with his head lowered, occasionally tapping on the selfies Sister Zhiyi had sent him... She wondered, if she sent Qin Xuan selfies, would he act the same way?
*No! I will never leave Qin Xuan! So the premise is invalid!*
By evening, after Qin Xuan returned home and finished feeding Liu Ruoxi and Qin Lin'er, he changed into the clothes Zhiyi had picked out for him and headed out.
Since Nan Zhiyi was still in training, Qin Xuan thought for a moment and headed straight to the school.
Fortunately, it wasn't far. Following the location Nan Zhiyi had sent, Qin Xuan found the door to the lecture hall. His gaze passed through the open door, and he happened to see Nan Zhiyi on the podium, holding a script and reading the lines.
Nan Zhiyi glanced over, saw Qin Xuan, and ended up misreading a few words...
The teacher inside followed her gaze and spotted Qin Xuan outside. A female teacher walked out and said, "Student, someone is training here. We aren't accepting visitors."
After saying that, she moved to close the door.
"Oh, Teacher Li, he's my boyfriend..." Nan Zhiyi ran over with her script and gave Teacher Li an apologetic smile.
"Ah?" Teacher Li was full of surprise. This was the first time she had learned that Nan Zhiyi had a boyfriend...
"Then come in and sit down," since he was "family," there was no problem with that, Teacher Li noted.
"Never mind, never mind. I'll just wait for her outside," Qin Xuan was afraid of distracting Nan Zhiyi, so he quickly waved his hands.
Seeing this, Nan Zhiyi frowned at him: "Then wait for me a little longer; this is the last run-through!"
After saying this, Nan Zhiyi ran back to the podium, leaving Teacher Li standing at the door looking confused. *A run-through? Didn't you just say there were two left?*
Once Zhiyi went back in, Qin Xuan sat on a chair nearby and looked around the school.
...
About ten minutes later, Nan Zhiyi ran out without even having time to change her clothes. Seeing Qin Xuan waiting for her, she finally let out a sigh of relief.
She walked over, sat down next to Qin Xuan, and wrapped her arms around his.
"Finished?" Qin Xuan felt his arm being held and turned his head to see Zhiyi.
"Mm-hmm, but..." Nan Zhiyi paused, "You have to wait for me a little longer, okay? I need to go change my clothes!"
"Go ahead, no rush," Qin Xuan reached out and ruffled Nan Zhiyi's hair. Seeing her squint her eyes, Qin Xuan inexplicably felt that her actions right now were like... a kitten asking for head pats?!
"Then I'm going. Do you want to come along?" Seeing that Qin Xuan’s hand had stopped moving, Nan Zhiyi looked up and asked.
"This... never mind, I'll just wait for you here." Although Qin Xuan was a little tempted, they were in a school, after all. Wouldn't it be better to just watch her later?
Not long after, Nan Zhiyi changed into her regular clothes and left the school with her arm linked in Qin Xuan’s.
"Did you eat today?" Qin Xuan suddenly thought, *You didn't skip another meal, did you? If so, I'll have to take action!*
"I did! Teacher Li took us out for Sichuan food," Nan Zhiyi saw the expression on Qin Xuan's face and knew exactly what he was thinking; that look was exactly the same as the one Sister Xi gave her before she was about to scold her!
Hearing Nan Zhiyi say this, Qin Xuan nodded. "Then are you hungry now? Do you want a late-night snack?"
"Sure! Did Lin'er have a chicken leg today?" Nan Zhiyi suddenly thought of the little sister at home.
"Not yet, I'll bring one for her in a bit."
Hearing this, Nan Zhiyi pretended to be a little angry and even loosened her grip on his arm. "So, taking me to eat was just an afterthought? I’m still an outsider after all!"
Qin Xuan turned his head awkwardly to look at Nan Zhiyi, who was putting on a dramatic performance. "It would be a waste if you didn't become an actress... I'll bring Lin'er a chicken leg, is that enough?"
"Hehe, I'm just kidding," Nan Zhiyi said she was joking, but her grip on Qin Xuan's arm tightened slightly.
"You're such a tease!"
